Aluminum Block Experimental Top of Deck Insert Alternative Repair Kia Blown Head Gaskets Part 8

After lots of measuring, wailing, gnashing, grinding of teeth, and consulting with my engineer friend I'm cautiously optimistic and moving forward with this experimental alternative repair method of installing the steel inserts at the top of the head bolt hole, which if it works is several hundred dollars less than the over $500 Manufacturer approved method and tool to install them way down deep for the Factory Torque To Yield bolts. I am using SB Chevy 7/16 - 14 Main Bearing Cap Bolts as Head Bolts. If it works this might be the way to go on an old high milage aluminum block engine to get some more miles out of it and keep it as a grocery getter w/o investing in an expensive one use tool. Otherwise, and honestly is you have high miles and it's not wrecked, sell the vehicle whole for parts.
