Booker is saying without saying that Buff was already deep in his addiction, therefore wasn't the performer he once was. He's just choosing not to put Bagwell's business out there, which is a classy move.
That’s exactly what I got out of it. Bagwell was canned from WWE because he was pilled up all the time and he’s even admitted he was; not because of that match.
Everybody knows they were set up the fail. The fans werent booing because the match was bad, they were booing because they didnt want to see a WCW match at RAW, which WWE fully expected to happen. Also, Booker says Buff's story is inaccurate, but doesnt say what was inaccurate about it.
It's well documented that many guys, buff Bagwell particularly, had over inflated ego and bad attitude. If you wanna call that wwe "burying " wcw your willfully ignorant. If they just wanted to humiliate wcw wrestlers, then why did guys like Flair, Booker, Guerrero, mysterio, Benoit...... to name a few, all had success in wwe. Those guys had good attitudes and did what was asked without a huge ego. Booker says it right here. He understood that he had to earn his keep.
@@rel8edgamerz445 WWE did not purchase WCW for it to flourish. It's clear in the way WCW talent was presented against WWE talent on television. WCW wasn't meant to shine.
@@rel8edgamerz445 Vince bought them so no one else could, and thus eliminate any real competition. And yes, Vince LOVES humiliating those guys, esp. those who left WWE for WCW in the 90s...go ask Kevin Nash if you don't believe me.
Booker had that 'Lord Jesus give me strength' look on his face right when Buff started talking... 😂.... Buff still preaching the same thing... over and over....
Buff’s story has never changed. WWE set them up to fail. What Booker fails to mention is that WWE set him up to fail many times after that. They saw him as a tag wrestler that WCW turned into a poor Rock knockoff.
Booker himself has spoken of the fact that one of the primary barriers to guys getting over in WWF was having to learn the Federation style. The way WCW and WWF did matches was different, and there was a learning curve to the transition. And I’ve noticed that the WWE lifers work real hard to downplay the fact that it was absolutely on purpose that those guys took L’s. I think Book scoffed at somebody saying they brought them in to fail, retorting that “You don’t pay a guy to have him lose.” Yes, you do. They even have a name: jobbers. Vince can be extremely petty and he’s got deep enough pockets to pursue that pettiness. Paying the guys that had had to basically surrender to his conquest to come in and publicly be humiliated by that conquest? That’s absolutely within his realm of possibilities. But they don’t wanna admit that, probably because of biting the hand that feeds, knowing which side your bread’s buttered on, etc.
It wasn't a bad match, it was a standard match you would see on Nitro or Thunder, but at the time WWF had Angle, Benoit, Eddie, Edge, Jericho etc and those guys were setting the bar very high.
you also would see it on WWF, in the lower midcard or right before the main event. But this was some important main event stuff even for the World Title, and Buff + Booker did not treat it like that.
Lots to unpack especially with Booker being mum on the subject but Ill say this....I was a fan of Buff, but I couldn't sit here and give you a top 10 bagwell list of matches if I tried.
It was a trial by fire. They didn't tell Buff how important this was to give a full effort tear down the house match, because he was supposed to realize this on his own. Not "give us 10 minutes" of an autopilot house show match. Buff will admit to being on pills and booze at this time, but won't attribute it to not being able to pull it together and focus on one very important task at a very key point.
Actually the wwe set them up to see how they would react and work with a crowd booing them out of a building. Clearly Booker did something right and buff something wrong after the match took place. It was a test the same match was gonna happen the following week in Atlanta but clearly buff did something other then the Shane helms slap that got him fired after the first match on raw
Haven’t seen the match 20 years ago and seeing it today, it’s really not that bad of a match. It was your standard, average pro wrestling match. We see matches regularly far worse than that match on a fairly regular basis
You're misunderstanding a bit. It's a dance, right, between two guys. When he says he wasn't able to showcase his talents like he wanted to, he's saying it's because his dance partner wasn't ready. Booker says that he was absolutely ready for anything.
You're misinterpreting his comment. He's saying his 💯 % wasn't possible because of Buff. This is highly common understanding that it takes both parties to put on great matches. There is no great match throughout wrestling history where ONE of the performers was on and the other wasn't, see the point 🤷🏽♂️? If there is one it might be Bret vs Bulldog Summerslam 91 but it's super rare to see.
Hey Booker, who was a wrestler that helped you out when you were younger trying to find your way?? "No one, no on, no one at all............I had a great mentor named Ron Simmons". Bro you gotta THINK, then TALK. Not talk instantly and then think while you're talking

It was not a good match but there is worst on WWE tv every weeks. By the way Buff is been asked about it in every interviews. Hes not the one that brings it up
Buff should have went to Japan or stayed current you can't keep blaming WWE...it didn't work then go somewhere else ....but Booker made it so he ain't going to talk but so much
Bagwell never was a main eventer, you just couldn't take him seriously. Booker T on the other hand is an absolute legend, fantastic in the ring and on the stick.
Im not sure how many people watch buff bagwells interviews, but basically he is talker and every interview is the same, he gets on intoxicated and talks and talks about the same thing over and over and points fingers at everybody else for what happened to him but it wasn't the match.. it was his baggage.. he was hard to do business with, he was heavy into drinking and popping pills, etc. starting fights with people, his mom calling up there, etc . That's not a way to make a good impression especially when you are not even a main eventer ..i mean who would want to deal with that.. buff was a liability and they did exactly that.
everytime I listen to Buff on a podcast I lose a little more respect for him. "I had to use the tanner or I wouldnt look good on tv" "I had to use the steroid because otherwise I wouldnt look good on tv" "I had to play politics or else I wouldnt have been on tv"

Exactly. Its a shame too because Buff was a fun character - could see him doing entertaining stuff in the mid card with Too Cool/ Rikishi etc
Everybody knows they were set up the fail. The fans werent booing because the match was bad, they were booing because they didnt want to see a WCW match at RAW, which WWE fully expected to happen. Also, Booker says Buff's story is inaccurate, but doesnt say what was inaccurate about it.
Right then he names DDP who also got screwed over by WWE. You know they wanted all of WCW to fail
WWE didn’t buy WCW for it to fail but they did want to humiliate the WCW roster nobody buys a company to ruin it and make no profit

Buff getting thrown out the door was the biggest burial ever 😂😂😂

Buff wasn't a "good match" kind of wrestler, especially after he got super roided up.
I loved BUff as a kid. He seemed like the man lmao
Love you KING❤

Book always been solid.. always
It was a decent match..can't expect a lot more than that under the circumstances...Booker was the better wrestler by much
I don't understand booker's face. Buff didn't say anything wrong
Because he knows that Buff was on pills at the time and is frustrated that Buff wouldn't just admit that.
The locker room noticed he would be good in there with them. Its called respect.
At one point Buff actually said he was on the same level as the Rock .. I knew he was smoking some serious shit
Actually the wwe set them up to see how they would react and work with a crowd booing them out of a building. Clearly Booker did something right and buff something wrong after the match took place. I’m the wcw champion sucka
5 TIME…5 TIME

It was a perfectly normal match
Booker T admits he didn't give 100% and also it wasn't his fault the match was bad. It can't be both.

What vince did with ecw and wcw was a major reason wrestling fell off for me
Lol Booker doesn't look impressed 😂
It wasn't bad at all.
Johhny ace screwed buff
Vince ruined the business!!! Point blank
na the match was good just saw it they buried him he performed well during and after the match 💯

Booker is a class act. Respect to him for weeding through the politics and b.s.
Buff wished it was him.
Entitlement.
