When I lived there in early 90's it was boarded up and derelict. So happy they are restoring it now. We were able to take my son there to see "It's a Wonderful Life" last Christmas. The scarab on the ceiling in front of the screen is gorgeous. If I lived in LA now I'd be going to all the revival showings in these gorgeous old theaters.
My son and I saw the premiere of "The Empire Strikes Back" at the Egyptian Theater in 1980. He was six years old and has been a dedicated Star Wars fan ever since. A beautiful theater and a special day. Thanks for the update on the renovation.

I remember going to the Egyptian Theater in the 1970s and it was completely different looking. They tried to modernize the facade and it looked horrible. I'm so glad that it has been restored to it's original intent. Thanks for your efforts.

I believe it was Todd-A0 movie process, which was introduced by Elizabeth Taylor's husband, Mike Todd and utilized in Todd's production of Around the World in 80 Days, back in the 50's.

When Hollywood High School was built I think around 1927 everyone complained how far out in the country it was. My friends and I saw Star Wars at the Egyptian. Of course 25 years later after seeing the 1st three back then George Lucas comes out with the prequels which made the ones I saw parts 4-6. What it looks ;like in your video isn't even close to what was there my entire childhood. They had an awning all the way from the ticket booth which was near the sidewalk to the front door of the theater. I went there during the 70's-80's and never knew it was built by Grauman. In fact I just recalled that I saw the Poseidon Adventure with your dearly departed friend Shelley Winters when it first came out at the Egyptian.
Had no idea there are 2 Grauman's theaters. You keep learning me things Jordan. I wondered why there was a period they called the Egyptian theater Mann's. Am I mistaken? Thumb up. Just catching up.....

hey have fun I have not a clue what your plans are just leting you know if you were to go to an amusement while over in Sweden theres a roller coaster from Cedar Point at an amusement park over there called the Jumbo Jet I know its blue and white have fun be safe and always pull on the card slot before withdrawing money over there make sure theres not a card reader on it so someone cant get your information be safe have enjoy
