    I wasn’t initially considering, but I now have done research and found really great pre-med programs. I’m particularly interested in Amherst, Williams, Bowdoin, Bates, and Colgate. These schools have high standards so a bit nervous. I have gotten 6 B’s and 1 C but have a good amount of A’s. I have great EC’s and have rigor.

    Hey, I'm not sure if you're still checking these comments but I was admitted to both Wesleyan and Vassar as a junior transfer and am trying to decide between them. Right now I'm on the fence but leaning Wes as it's closer to home and I hear Vassar has less in the way of night life. I'd love to hear your take as an alum on the campus culture of Vassar though.

    rly nice video!! one thing i did notice, is that you guys said 'smaller class sizes' as one of the pro's. would you say that those smaller classes also take away some of your freedom, or maybe even make the college experience more like highschool (compared to other non lac)?

    • @heyalexaa
      @heyalexaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      i think it depends on how you see it? everything we are saying in the video is all subjective and id say based on my experience, i did enjoy small classes and prefer small class to big lectures bc I am a type of person who learns better through small-group discussions! but I do see where you are coming from and I think it's possible to feel that way in small classes :) and yes it is kinda like high school in many ways 😂

    do you believe that going to an LAC is a good idea if you want to do pre-med? i heard smaller classes and all are good when it comes to professors getting to know you better.

    • @heyalexaa
      @heyalexaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes I think that LAC is an even better option for those who are on pre-professional tracks (pre-med, pre-law). I personally do not have any idea how med/law school applications work but I have met so many students who are pre-med at vassar! I do recommend reaching out to current pre-med students at liberal arts colleges and hear about their experiences. I have a friend at vassar who is pre-med and also a youtuber !! check her out: th-cam.com/channels/7237KV7At6FdSpu3QTdbgw.htmlfeatured

    How “liberal" liberal art college are? cus I read from both perspectives(conservative & liberal) and I agree with both sides of some of their point,and I love to share my thought on politic. Would I be too conservative for a liberal art college?

    • @heyalexaa
      @heyalexaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! thank you for your question :) I think it's amazing that you read sources from both political standpoints! I cannot speak for every liberal arts college in the US, but based on my personal experiences at vassar, I do feel that the general student body is definitely more left leaning than the other way. If you want to get a better sense of the students' stance on politics, I recommend looking up and reading some of the news articles/op-eds written by the students of the schools you are interested in! here's the link to the vassar one miscellanynews.org/

    I want to be an engineer. Is the LAC good for this major?

    • @heyalexaa
      @heyalexaa  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hi! so there's no right or wrong answer but typically most liberal arts colleges do not have structured engineering programs/majors to my knowledge. if you know as a high school student that engineering is definitely what you want to pursue, I'd personally recommend looking into bigger universities with engineering programs! I do want to say though some liberal arts colleges offer accelerated/dual degree programs that allow students to take some engineering-specific courses at another institution (vassar has one with dartmouth!) it requires a lot of research but if you want to take classes from multiple disciplines and also study engineering at the same time, you might want to look into programs like this :) hope this helps!

    • @yanwinaung8111
      @yanwinaung8111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would advice you to do some research. There are some LAC which have good partnership with Engineering school to have first track program. That way you can have best of both worlds.

  • @404TRUCKERTV

      @MorallyReprehensible 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily.

    • @yanwinaung8111
      @yanwinaung8111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might be mistaken with Liberal Arts College with Liberal Arts majors. Many LAC has myriad of majors including Sciences and Computer Science. Pretty much the same typical majors as you will find in big universities. The main difference would be in LAC, you are allowed and even encourage to explore other interest beside your major.

    • @404TRUCKERTV
      @404TRUCKERTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yanwinaung8111 no confusion, you are correct however, of these three, the gentlemen to the right is majoring in economics. the average starting salary for economics majors are higher then finance and accounting. and the mid career average is a little north of 100k. The other two are in the arts. I am concerned about young people these days because they go to school for these useless degrees and find out after all that work and student loans at this expensive school means nothing in the real world. the best job they can get only pays 40k with 5 and 10yrs experience.

      I agree with you - it is not easy to find jobs with a non-stem/econ/business degree. I can't even begin to count the number of times I have regretted my decision to major in a non-stem major 😅 You are actually posing a question to a greater social phenomenon in education and US workforce (e.g. the shifting employment trends towards STEM jobs, the ever-increasing wage gap and employment demand between stem and non-stem majors) and that is something that I am also interested in exploring! While I do have many reservations about my humanities degree at a liberal arts college, I absolutely loved my experience at vassar - made lifelong friendships, met phenomenal professors, and learned so many things about the world that I may not have had access to otherwise. But thanks for sharing your thought and I appreciate your concern and alternative perspective that is just as valuable.
