Like creating four walls , floor and roof and after that there is nothing , no interior design and infrastructure , no plumbing and no electrification etc which are essential.

China's construction industry has many competitors. If someone isn't doing their job properly and efficiently, they get replaced.
The term "Saving face" or "Having face" in Chinese is about having a good reputation.
China's social credit system as they call it in the western world rewards people who provide good service and quality. It's like a review system but with accountability. You can't create fake ID's in the government database and put fake reviews artificially boosting the credibility of your company or business.
In the US the love of privacy and anonymity due to distrust of the government allows bad people to use deceptive practices. For example, it's common for bad construction owners to do shoddy work, then re-brand itself a new name every few years to shed the bad reputation. They do it to squeeze the profit margins. The goal is to secure a big pay out while using poor cheaper material or hire lower paid skilled workers leading to poor quality.
You can't do that in China. The Chinese have designed a better system. The problem in your country is the rich have more power than the government. Not all rich people are honest or noble. If they can bribe the government. This leads to inefficient policies for the overall progress of society.

      1. What they don't mention is the three years of planning, the one year of off-site pre-fabrication, the 3 to 6 months getting to ground level before starting the tower, and the 3 months of commissioning water, elec and air cond systems and landscaping and local authority inspections before being really, actually completed. It's the assembly of structural elements above ground level that took 19 days, albeit with approx 3 to 4 times the normal cranage and hoists for a building of that size. Still a remarkable achievement, just not really 19 days start to finish. The real pay off will be IF they have an opportunity to repeat the identical tower design.
      2. Tram lines through an established city, while trying to keep traffic and people moving without cutting power/water/sewer every hour, are not at all simple.

We've become a fragmented nation of multiple ethnic groups and cultures who lack any real aspiration to join the US society. They seek to make it a mirror of their own homeland. Plenty of hard working US citizens...hard to get motivated for $1.50 a sq. ft when they used to get $3.00. The US being the land of immigrants is its shining light and its worst enemy all at the same time.

nah. That's like saying that your house was not built in 1 year, because the the osb or plywood sheets used - need cips of wood - but that wood was needing 40 years to grow. So your house is not taking 1 year to build, it takes 41 years to build.
Or if you don't like the analogy - consider bricks. Since they are like lego. Takes long time for bricks to cure and end-up in your yard to build with them. So if you build a wall in 1 day and you tell your friends - "hey check up how muscle strong i am" - i'm calling you out on it - "hey that's cheating.. those bricks took 1 month to make :)) - so you built the wall in 31 days not 1 day.. so on.
I will choose this lego style of construction over anything i've seen practiced around me.

I spent a year in China and I have seen such quick construction jobs. I have also seen that those quickly erected sky scrapers looked dilapidated and ready to be torn down again, only half a year after being built.

I watched 2 documentaries about high rise building construction China vs. US. The US building was inspected right after the floors were installed with strict adherence to the engineering requirements for spacing between the plumbing, electrical and data conduits. Time consuming changes had to be made to bring everything up to code. Then the floor was poured.
The Chinese installed a floor frame, ran all their pipes and conduits (some of them literally lying directly against each other in bunches. Then they poured with no code inspections that I could see.

ttraderjim The worst part is that they often copy and paste building designs, so if one has a major flaw, the other 200 do as well.

Well you are comparing a developed country to a developing country, why not compare China with another developing country? That would be more fair and China does much better.
Just remember the US had 300 years to develop but China only had 70 years, even the US can't match your expectations in that time frame.

@@AndrewManookthere are also factors involving the development of a nation.
But the main drive is the available technology.
Ib the past 300 years, the US doesn't have the same building technology as of today.
So comparing the 300 - 70 years is absurd.
