@@chriscavin5453 what's cool is that the sponsor is actually Rick Hendricks city Chevrolet dealership which was obviously on the 46 car in the movie. Hendrick built the cars for the movie and when jeff moved up they originally planned for him to drive the 46
Every time I see or here that name it rends my heart. The guy had so much talent. I've been a NASCAR fan for so long that the Petty family seems like my family.
My late father was in the Army, stationed down there. He & a few buddies went & watched the '52 Southern 500. He said there wasn't any shade anywhere & they got burnt up! That spoiled it for him,he never went to another race! This was a year before I was born. NASCAR has sure come a long way since those early years! Now instead of watching about 5 minutes of the previous weeks race on the Wide World of Sports Saturday show, I get to watch it live every race! In some ways the good old days take a backseat to the modern times! Also RIP to late great Silver Fox, Wood Brothers, & all the others involved in the racing world!❤
It actually wasn't hard to get City Chevrolet on that Willam Byron throwback. Rick Hendrick is a big business man around Charlotte/Concord NC and owns nearly every single car dealership in the area. City Chevrolet was actually Rick's very first dealership dating way back to the 80s before he even got into NASCAR.
Matt Tifft's throwback for this weeks race is for a man named Steve Hilliker. He raced a late model for Tiffts parents locally here in central Michigan. It absolutely awesome to see someone I grew up watching get a throwback scheme on such a high stage!
I love all the Hendrick cars throwbacks. I even like Bubba’s car. 1. William Byron Days of Thunder 2. Chase Elliott’s father scheme 3. Alex Bowman’s Axalta 4. Bubble Wallace multicolor car. I even liked Stenhouse John Deere throwback scheme from last year
Talks about how much he dislikes tony Stewart then tells story about how tony Stewart’s championship brought him back into nascar and in a way would have started his channel
I love to dislike Kyle Busch. Makes perfect sense to me. Everyone has their favs, their indifferents, and their bad guys they dislike. Tony's 2011 run was legendary whether you liked him or not. I liked him a lot, never cared much for Carl but he was very good wheel man.
@@OBG791 KB is a great wheelman. NASCAR wouldn't be near as good without him for sure. I dislike him for his comportment, not his driving. He likes to dish it out then cries when it comes back around. Being driven to win is one thing, acting as if your entitled to win every time is something else. He's like a spoiled little kid that throws a fit when he doesn't win.... EVERY TIME. TV loves him for this. There have been a few times when KB's spoken out about NASCAR that I agreed with him. It's those 'after a tough loss' interviews where I'd to jerk a knot in him. Tony Stewart had a handful of those but got beyond after race tantrums, at least on TV anyway. Tony is also a masterful wheelman. 2011 is such a unique story it will live as long as there's a NASCAR.
X man I have to agree the race at homestead in 2011 Tony dove his ass off people need to remember that Tony had a little damage to the front of his car that knight and to restart in the back and drove the wheels of the car to get back to the front

Here's my top 5: #5 Clint Bowyer's 2011 Tony Stewart scheme #4 Daniel Suarez's 2005 Tony Stewart scheme #3 Bubba Wallace's Adam Petty scheme #2 William Byron's Cole Trickle scheme (I love the bright green and yellow on this one) #1 Aric Almirola's 2002 Tony Stewart scheme (2002 was my first season as a fan, so it's very nostalgic, plus orange is my favorite color)
I love the #24 Chevrolet City from Days of Thunder! I love the throwback weekend, I miss those beautiful old school paint schemes back when NASCAR was great!
The Stewart schemes are amazing, and I love how they have a JD Tribute decal on each one. Also rumor on Reddit is that Logano is running a Harvick tribute, so that’s hysterical.
Speaking of Darrell Waltrip, Western Auto is a place that I wish still existed. The stores they had near where I lived had service bays in addition to the auto parts store.
Brad always seem to have the best throwback schemes (he’s lucky enough to still drive the same sponsor and number as it was when Rusty drove it) but that Adam Petty scheme is probably my favorite
I wonder if good ol harv will throw his car back to smoke's indycar championship because tony is the first driver in motorsports history to win a title in indycar and nascar.
I would say my favorites would be the #11 throwback since D. W. was my favorite driver back then #24 with the movie connection and the #43 because it’s such a wild one
Since the 10, 41 and 14 are all running Tony Stewart NASCAR championship throwbacks I wish Harvick would run Tony’s IRL championship or one of his Dirt Championships
I was going to add this but you beat me to it. So many young Millennial fans don't understand just how heavily Hendrick was involved in Days of Thunder, it's their story.
@@MondayMorningRacer True, but im not criticizing anyone's knowledge of things that happened before they were born, im sure there is a lot of Nascar info I can be corrected of before my time.

Rick Hendrick owns City Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports only exists because of Days of Thunder. All the cars in the movie were his, he used the movie money to start the team
Logano is doing a Harvick throwback. Someone was at the penske shop and the cover on the car barely showed the side panel. Late 2000s Harvick shell/pennzoil
Need a Tide, Kodak, and Valvoline cars in there. Folgers, Purolater and Skoal Bandit too if you can stretch the 90's thing a little. Hooters and Mountain Dew would be good but Chase can only run 1 scheme. LoL
Huge Byron fan was really hoping he would do well, the qualifying had my hopes up, Rick Hendrick owns City Chevrolet so thats how they got that on the car. Also this years cars were awesome!!
Logano's throwback was leaked when he was asked about it in an interview on one of the NASCAR Radio shows. Joey hinted that it would be Kevin Harvick's Shell-Pennzoil scheme from 2010 where Joey said I guess his wife wears the fire suit in the family.
My Top 5 Throwback Paint Schemes: 5. Daniel Hemric 4. Brad Keslowski 3. Aric Almirola 2. William Byron 1. Also Jimmie Johnson’s was accidentally leaked by Noah Gragson. Jimmie’s is gonna be a throwback to his trophy truck. And I think I heard Joey is throwing back to Kevin Harvick
Eric - “I don’t like when drivers throwback to themselves”
Also Eric - likes Erik Jones’ throwback to himself

raginOKCTHUNDER Johnson throwback to himself

The Hamlin, Bubba and Byron throwbacks are my favorite so far.

Austin Dillon?
Best throwback is Byron’s Days of thunder

I want to see him win the race
The race that its finally 90s themed and it's not a jeff Gordon throwback lop

I had seen Bowyers already but the second Eric said let’s take a look and got excited, two ads came on!!!!
Chevrolet Cup Series same
Lol I only got one at the beginning
The Jimmy Means "Powder Blue 52" throwback.
Jimmy Smut Means Alka- Seltzer paint scheme looks great.
There are so many good ones this year but the Adam petty one and William byron probably my top 2
I also really like the Tim Richmond throwback paint scheme if tim would have lived there is no telling what he could half accomplished
I just realized the irony of Tony Stewart's 2011 championship. He beat Carl Edwards with Carl's old sponsor on his car. Wild.
And to celebrate throwback weekend Eric has a throwback Kenseth shirt. How fitting

1. William Byron Days of Thunder
2. Chase Elliott’s father scheme
3. Alex Bowman’s Axalta
4. Bubble Wallace multicolor car.

I was so happy to see Adam Petty's paint coming back. He was my favorite driver when I was a kid. Can't wait to see that car out on the track.
If they do a 2000 throwback next year the 95 needs to throwback to the original lighting McQueen paint job
Hamlin/Wallace throwback >>>>>
