It wasn't Suarez's choice, he even said it in NASCAR race Hub. He said that he was wondering why nobody was talking to him about a throwback then Michael Waltrip was the one to show him his car

My favorite throwback has to be Jimmie Johnson's tribute to Richard Petty/Dale Sr, It blends in really well with the other HMS schemes.
I love it! Already ordered 2 of the diecasts..one to collect long term, one to show / have out. Being a Jimmie Fan since he was racing in the desert, it's such a classic Jimmie thing to do. Honoring the 2 other 7x championships with his own car on his last year. Upon reveal, it had me in tears. Can't wait till Sunday!

16:19 M&M's has been in nascar before 2004. Take this however you want but I'll always remember the 36 M&M's car because it was involved in Earnhardt's fatal crash

I've been a Jimmie Johnson fan since the early beginning of his career, and I won't lie. When I seen both the 9 and 88 going around, it brought back so many memories! Especially Bowman's, I loved that paint scheme, it all brought back so many memories to where, I just couldn't stop smiling, I miss the lowe's 48 days, you never think they would end, until they do! But of course, you simply can't go without, mentioning the man himself, Jimmie's paint scheme, possibly my most favorite of the throwbacks he has ever done. Not to mention, this just shows, the amount of class Jimmie has, the classic class of Jimmie Johnson.
IN MY NASCAR HEAT CAREER MODE I DROVE FOR SPIRE AND I DID THAT SAME EXACT THROWBACK😂😂

Jimmie's Darlington throwback has to be #1 in all of them in my opinion.
This years theme is "NASCAR's Champions... Past, Present and Future".

Exactly! Definitely not any of Ryan Newman’s Outback schemes looked like that. The only ones that come close are the Harvick ones. But those all had mountains on it still. Don’t know what Outback car he was looking at that compares to the John Hunter scheme.
The 15 Ricky Rudd car was spot on.....especially with the double line car number
The Harvick scheme is also a tribute to the past Busch Series champions pre 2008. Im not a harvick fan but that scheme is my favorite and i wouldn't mind seeing it in victory lane. Also love the Johnson 2006 and 2009 throwbacks.
"there is a theme but no one really follows it" is an understatement.
My wife and I went a couple of years ago and dressed up all throwbackish and halfway to the track we realized that literally no one even cared about the throwback. It was neat though seeing peoples reaction to us and taking pictures. but definitely way too hot for that honestly.

Saw the reveal of the Jimmie Johnson’s throwback. The combo was genius. Shear genius. JJ seems to always pull off amazing throwbacks. His 2018 throwback when he shaved his beard and I believe the team went retro on the fire suits. What a class act!!!

The Spire Motorsports/Ross Chastain #77 throwback is best in my opinion. When they unveiled it during Dale Jrs podcast he said that they used actual gold leaf for the numbers. Yes, Dale Sr did run the #77 Hi-Gain Chevy Laguna in 1976 and this throwback is spot on for that car!

My least favorite is Daniel Suarez car, I really don’t like it that he threw it back to him self, so as Christopher Bell. But all in all these throwbacks look great!

John Hunter missed the golden opportunity to run the 2003 38 M&M's Elliott Sadler scheme.
Paul Menard also won a busch series race in this car and Menards has been sponsoring teams for years so they are definitely significant even if maybe he is not a superstar
Kyle's is cool because he's being sponsored by just plain M&Ms. It's so rare (if ever?) that there are normal M&Ms on his car, usually a variant: peanut, caramel, pretzel etc.

I completely agree with you. I had the same thoughts on Bell, Suarez and JH Nemechek. At least they could have done the Citgo car that had the black and yellow from the following year. Logano missed out by not changing the number font.

Imo it isnt gonna happen, if you look at the statistics of someone who is on their last season (Dale Sr. Not included obviously) they dont do nearly as well.

I mean he's consistently had a fast car this year. If he gave it another year to really iron out the details of this 48 team, he'd grab a win or two. He is just so humble and content with 7 championships. Wish he had more of a hunger for that 8th..
