I grew up with Dave Allen at large. He was one of those comedians whose content was tame enough for family entertainment with any adult material going straight over our heads. Brilliant man sorely missed.
Agreed, I was allowed to watch Dave Allen on the tele with my parents, so funny, a genius of comedy, if he ever had to use a swear word I'm sure it would be applicable & appropriate to make the story even funnier than I thought it could possibly be
😊🙌🙌
I also grew up with Dave Allen at large. I was also educated in a catholic convent, at times I found breathing hard because I was laughing so much. He was amazing. I was laughing so much watching these clips😂
Dave's story on teaching children how to read a clock is the best.
One of the best and funniest comedian that there was 🤣😂🤣☺️😂🤣
ABSOLUTELY, I loved DAVE ALLEN I WAS SO UPSET WHEN HE PASSED RIP BELOVED DAVE , GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. XXXX
I loved and do miss Dave Allen, imagine what he would make of Ryanair today. RIP very funny man.
GOD BLESS him.
The best comedian Ireland has ever produced, there has never been a better.🤣
His observations of life, religion - priceless😂
Gods best comedian 🙏👍
@@poshpaul55 I don't think the church would agree lol🤣
His real name was actually Dave O'Mahony - he went to school at St. Pauls C.B.S., Brunswick Street, [Dublin 7]. As did Johnny Giles. And me!
@@daveroche6522 excellent, native of Limavady now an adopted son of Birkenhead....E....
I dont know, Frank Carson also top qual.
Watched him as a child with my father. Genius of a comedian. 👍
Ditto. Obligatory viewing (Thursday nights?). Plus we had Frank Hall on Tuesdays. Happy Daze.
One of the all time greats this guy and sorely missed. My late Father & I used to cry with laughter at this guy when I was a kid.
😊👍🏻👍🏻
He was a genius. One of the best ever
Hey Amanda, have you seen "Dave Allen On The Vagaries Of The English Language"? He used the F-word in a joke once and people complained, so the next week he told a joke in which he used every swear word, but in a way that people could not complain about because he was using double meanings that are okay. Dave Allen is pure genius.
Brilliant.
😊👍🏻
@@LADYRAEUK no one like him since, a true one off,a great storyteller in the Bardic tradition...something that still happens up in Scotland and over in Ireland ,thank you for sharing this with us all, best wishes from the wirral peninsula....E...
Ronnie Barker was another comedy genius. His Rindercella spoonerism was utterly filthy yet he got away with it. Though never repeated.
Dave Allen used to say at the end of every show (though an atheist himself): 'And may your God go with you.'
Dave Allen was a great Irish comedian. He did many short sketches which were hilarious.
I hope you can show more of his shows.
He is always able to destroy me and reduce me to tears he can just talk about anything and make it hilarious.😂🤣
DEFINITELY.
Im from the uk and years ago when Dave Allen was on TV my late father use to blackmail me to be a good boy so i could stay up and watch Dave Allen
me and my father were both laughing so much one day my father fell off his chair laughing at dave (A true story)
In my option (David Tynan O'Mahony AKA Davd Allen) was THE Best comedian of all time now he's making God laugh
May your god go with you 🙏☺
😊it’s lovely when it brings up good krnories
Used to watch him with my Dad. He was and still is, one of the true Irish greats.
Hes so funny, i enjoy all of his stories :)
Dave Allen was one of the best. Very sorely missed.
🙌
TRULY missed.
I hope his God went with him.
a MASTER OF HIS ART that's it for me after 62 years of still watching his videos
I grew up watching him in the 80's/90's. Even as a kid i found him hilarious. This series from 93 is my favourite and actually watched them all a few weeks ago and still found myself laughing out loud. Good to see he's still making people laugh, including younger generations like yourself
Great analysis Amanda that scored high on snort scale. Dave was wonderful. A gifted story teller.
I agree 😊
Thank you Amanda for bringing Dave Allen back. The black boxes got me. I seen craters where planes crashed, nothing left but the black boxes!
I went to the same primary school as Dave Allen. He was a neighbour back then. Later, Sean Hughes, also a comedian, went to the same school. It was pretty grim back then but that school seems to have produced more than its share of funny people.
Would that be Brunner, Mike? Gilsey went there also. Me three. For the record, despite his public persona, Paddy Crosby was a complete pr*ck!
I've loved Dave Allen since being a kid in the late 70s. Feck funny.🤣🤣 RIP Dave🙏🙏
Dave Allen was one of the funnest comedian ever RIP sadly missed
I’m 74,resting in bed with a bad back & hip & trying so hard not to laugh😂. If I ever want a good laugh, with no bad language,I can rely on Dave Allen. Watched them when I was a lot younger & his comic genius never fails to have me laugh & laugh.
I'm so glad youre enjoying it :) i hope you have a lovelly day
he was the king of comedy and thanks to television we can still watch the greatest
Saw Dave back in the 70's live in Wellington. He manages to tease out the mundane into something very funny.
It's always nice to laugh at comedy sketches, with someone else. Thank you Amanda. 😃
Welcome Peter 😊
Agreed. Those of us who remember ever word still laugh out loud when there's someone else to laugh with. Thanks Amanda - you're brilliant!
my all time favourite! I miss that guy!
He’s brilliant 🙌
Dave Allen was GREAT!!! Rest in beautful peace...
🙏🙏🙏
I remember seeing this sketch. His expressions and acting are just as much part of the fun as his jokes
Thanks for picking my video to react to, seems loads of people have reaction videos to this and it is really good to know that almost 20 years after his death, Dave and his observation humour is timeless and still entertaining people.
Amanda he's an absolute genius. This is one of my favourite bits he's done. I was lucky enough to have seen him live in London.Glad you like him. His TV shows were brilliant as well.
I've always loved Dave Allen's comedy from his tv show's in the late 70's n 80's
I loved watching this. My dad and I used to watch him on a Wednesday night and we would laugh so much, we were crying. The man is a genius, an observationalist of people first class. Thanks for this x
Another throwback to my childhood. I remember lying in front of the TV and riveted to every word. Wonderful man. He truly does see through a child's eye.
Absolutely great. Please have a look at him teaching his child to tell the time 👍
Dave ALLEN & Victor BORGE my 2 favourites ❤🇬🇧🌹
I love him have watched this so many times but, still get a sore throat from laughing, its the way he does all the actions too. Have you watched his Adam and Eve one??? its brilliant.
He has me crying and clutching my stomach in helpless laughter . The funniest man that ever was 😂❤🙏
hes brilliant isnt he? he always makes me laugh so much :)
I'm so grateful for David's brillants growing up, love him ❤
wow nearly 60 I forgot how good this guy was, loved him as a youngster he made so much sense .... and still does. What a talent , im pleased he is still liked cant beat talent . its good you like his style.
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this. Comedy genius x
He makes you smile and you make us smile. Keep ‘em coming because one thing our crazy ass world today needs is more smiles and laughter. Thanks Ms. Amanda
I was a big fan of Dave Allen and did see him live on stage and He was absolutely fantastic and I want to thank Beautiful Amanda for posting all these wonderful clips just watching your reaction is like a tonic to me 🥰🥰🥰
thank you so much :) .. youre very welcome! :)
Hi Amanda. You should watch all Dave Allen's material. His stand up and sketch's are all hilarious. His bravery for an Irish comic to take on the church is legendary and hilarious. He's quite simply a comic genius. You should try Les Dawson as well, another legend of British comedy. I've tried American humor but unfortunately I don't get it.
I love the black fins. Whenever I have a chance I carry on his legacy in adding those little black fins to safety cards.
Lol
He was amazing god bless him thanks amanda
😊🙌
Oh! Amanda. It does not matter what time of day (or night) that I watch your videos, they make me feel so much better than any medication. Just watching you laugh almost uncontrollably, is a truly wonderful sight. Keep up the good work you do a better job at making people feel better, than the NHS could ever do.
I love the blessing bit, cried so much. 🤗
Dave Allen a real humourist. Total legend
One of the best,if not the best, miss him
👍
Dave Allen will be sorely missed. Also when he scratched his ear there was a close up and his drink was filled up when they zoomed out
A much needed laugh and great to see your amazing laughing face Amanda
Hope you’re keeping well 😊
Thanks for that, Amanda. Yes, he’s brilliant. Cheers.
I have 2 top Dave Allen tip. 1) in the cafeteria waiting for a Car to move away. 2) the competing funeral companies😂. And it is very Nice to follow you. ❤️
He was brilliant! Saw him live in the UK once...
When I was a kid, Dave Allen was 'Must Watch' TV, Amanda. If I recall, his shows were on a Monday night, and the following Tuesday, every kid in School was talking about it and swapping the jokes from the show.
Used to rush home from lectures on Tuesdays Nights in the late 80's to see his shows on TV. Bloody Hilarious after watching Allo Allo LOL.
Lol 👍🏻
He excelled in satire, and class. He was so far ahead of the competition. without alienating people with every other word being a swear word he said more and commented more on society than a thousand other stand-ups.
A genuine great! Only man to tell a joke I have heard many times and never smiled, Then he tells it and I fall of my seat laughing. Dave Allen WAS humour to the soles of his feet.
Have you watched him teaching to tell the time to a child or Adam and Eve ? I love the anticipation in your face between the funny parts. 😊
Yes I have, brilliant.
Thanks for this , had to watch as Dave Allen is my favourite comedian
Good evening Amanda, Dave Allen was a comic genius everything he said was so true but very funny 😂🤣 must look for supermarket/ shopping
Dave Allen glad u have brought his humour back to our screen thanks
Oh yes he was a great comedian and no swearing Thanks for this series I had forgotten how good he was.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Amanda, great reaction, love Dave Allen grew up watching him.
😊🙌
I used to watch him with my Dad, in Oz, at 11 most of the jokes went over my head, at around 13, the penny started to drop.
Brilliant man.
I enjoyed that, Amanda and I thank you for sharing. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth 8 minutes of your time (sic) watching his sketch on ‘telling the time’🌞
Hi Amanda. Its nice to see that you found Dave Allen. I grew up watching him on TV in the seventies. I once saw him live in London, one of the funniest men I have ever seen. I like watching you laugh. Bless you.
Great vid, great reaction, you have a nice calm pleasant demeanour, good production, haven't seen you in a while, 👍
Thank you 😊
Amanda Dave Allen is my era, extremely funny man. It’s wonderful to see you laugh, you are one lovely lady. I look forward to your next video. 😀
Dave Allen was my dads favourite comedian. He used to watch him on tv. Im going way back now to the 70s/80s. We were not allowed to watch because dad thought his jokes were too mature for us kids. This has brought back so many memories.
Ah I’m so glad, it’s lovely looking back on fond memories
The other thing about the whistle.....no one noticed the huge airliner smashing into the sea, but..."peep peep", they can't fail to notice that! :D
I was lucky enough to see Dave Allen live in the 1970s. He was absolutely brilliant. I ached from laughing so much. Unlike his TV shows, there was quite a bit of swearing, and much edgier content. One of a kind. Even today he makes you laugh out loud.
oh i bet, i would have loved to see gim live
There were 2 weekly comedy treats which most of us here in Ireland tried never to miss in the '70s - Halls Pictorial Weekly (kinda like Ireland's Spitting Image with real actors - wayyyy before the original, well, Spitting Image (also epic)) PLUS Dave Allen at Large - THAT funeral sketch in particular still makes us laugh. Happy daze!
Love this , watching in crazy 2024 , U.K. gone bonkers , back in time for some sanity
i know it :)
My dad was a big fan of his but I was too young to understand it at the time. I am just rediscovering him now through your vids, and it's nice to watch with someone else, don't know why stuff seems to be funnier with other people "in the room" so to speak. Thanks for these uploads.
ah im so pleased its bringing back good memories :) i hope you continue to enjoy them :)
I have loved Dave Allen since I was a little girl. I still love watching him. God rest his soul. He's making them laugh in heaven now. Miss you Dave. See you when it's my turn. ❤❤❤❤❤
:)):
R.i.P. DAVE ALLEN, you were the best!
My favourite sketch was Dave as a drunk asking a broken down motorist what the problem was. The motorist replied "piston broke" and drunk Dave said "Me too but what's wrong with the car?"
I'll have to look that up
I never heard that one before nearly wet myself laughing.
We saw him live in 1972 here in Toronto. Brilliant.
Come back Dave Allen, We need your stories again..... 😎
My birth mate so to speak, born 30 years before me on the same date.
Bless, one of the greatest comedians ever.
hes absolutely brilliant!
Hi Amanda x
I grew up in the uk watching Dave Allen- such an honestly funny man.
Phil x
😊🙌
Love this video this young lady has such an infectious laugh 😂 Thank you for reminding us what an amazingly funny man Dave Allan was 🌹
Hi Amanda, I took my dad to see Dave Allen at the Strand Theatre in 1990. All bar a twenty minute interval that man stood and delivered the most amazingly funny routine. What mad it more special was looking over and seeing dad cry with laughter because this was the one time he'd gone to a show and not have to worry about the reaction of the person next to him which was usually my mother. Mum was very sensitive to bad language and told me 'Go on. take your Dad'.
You should watch the time when dave is recalling the time he took his son to school for the first day. You might perhaps enjoy his other take on time in which he issues such gems about a friend with a new watch and did Dave want to know the time in San Francisco. He covered working day - getting up to the clock working to the clock and I won't give the punchline away.
Communicating with teenagers is another one it ties nicely in with trying to find out who used the last of the toilet roll and had a bath last as it was dirty. Another comedy god is Bob Monkhouse. Such gems as I'm still having sex at 72, I live at 76. Bob in the 80's introduced Britain to comedians from 'across the pond' such as the bizarre Emo Philips, American impressionist extraordinaire Rich Little and a 21 year old Canadian by the name of Jim Carrey.
If you fancy British radio you'd be hard pushed to beat 'Hancock's Half Hour'. Perhaps you'll let me know your thoughts when you've watched and/or listened to my suggestion.
All the very best.
This man was brilliant, I don't think any subject was off limits with him.
Wish he was still around for Virgin Airways "first all woman virgin flight crew" announcement.
He would have had a field day with that. R.I.P. my childhood laugh factory.
Check out him explaining the telling the time and his comedy sketches 🤣😂☺️🤣
some of his best stuff were his silent skits, the funeral of the steamrolled man comes to mind
Oxygen Masks - I always love the "breathe normally" phrase. If the cabin pressure fails and the aircraft goes into a steep descent to equalise the pressure, I will be breathing extremely abnormally.
This is the most hilariously British piece of stoicism i've ever read on TH-cam. Well played, sir!
Great observation on life had Dave, his take on talking car's was hilarious.
The brilliant Dave Allen. Throughout the 70's I watched his TV series. This man was a unique one of a kind comedian, and he was totally on point. The thing to notice in comparison to todays comedians is that there are no profanities. Bad language was unnecessary because these comedians were simply funny. They did not need profanities. Dave Allen holds my attention in that he considered everyday simple observations of life but in a wonderful manner. Superb. RIP Dave Allen. Well missed. Thank you for everything you gave us.
Another comedian that you should seriously consider Amanda is Les Dawson. He too had this special quality. So superb with words, and musically talented too, he really was the comedians comedian. Try him out Amanda and you will be astounded. Again no bad language, just perfectly timed comedy. I recommend the Les Dawson and Shirley Bassey skit. You will roar with laughter. Note Les's piano playing.....yes, you really do have to know how to play piano well to play it that bad! Look up Les Dawson 'There's something nasty in the castle yard.' It is only a very short skit, but brilliant. Then you will begin to realise what a brilliant talent Les Dawson was and still is to this very day. RIP Les Dawson. Well missed. Thank you for everything you gave us.
So glad you liked this, I still cry with laughter everytime
Dave Allen was a great comic & brilliant story teller as many were in that era. The one though that made me cry laughing everytime through the 70s/ 80s was Kenny Everett, that guy was a comedy genius & it still baffles me how he got away with doing all the stuff he did at the time on the BBC at primetime hours.
What a man. Sorely missed. ❤❤❤
Dave Allen's humour was always brilliantly well observed from life and logical on what were still considered controversial subjects .Sitting in the chair with a fag and / or a glass of spirits it was always a great way to end the evening. In those days he was the adult entertainers shows how much things have changed .
Quick example of Binary Opposites - in one corner we have Dave Allen. In the other [apologies in advance], sigh, Bernard Manning. 'Nuff said.
@@daveroche6522 indeed...
Dave Allen was a brilliant Irish comedian. He was extremely popular here in Australia.
I miss him , only saw him live once...brilliant
I used to love sitting with my father watching him when I was young. Found me.ladies of the two of us laughing at him
This is Dave's speech from the British Airways Charity Ball.
that makes it even better! haha :)
