Well done being so proactive and quick to repair. Many seasoned riders would have left it till too late and it would have totally failed miles from home with no phone signal in the pouring rain with nothing to drink or eat ! You are doing everything right. You are a natural.
Hey kiddo you're doing great - but I think you guys should adjust your handle bars back towards you, that way you won't have to lean forward as much when you ride 😊 It's actually really easy to do - just loosen the bolts on the triple clamp and then loosen your mirrors and move them forward to compensate👍
Yikes, glad you got that figured out. I'm inland in a very arid area so I don't see rust happening that fast. I'd recommend maybe a small can of penetrating oil(ie PB Blaster, not WD40 as it's actually not a lubricant) or waterproof grease to keep that from happening so often. Salt from the sea can definitely change your maintenance requirements ;)
Great tip Rea and glad you figured that out ! My first thought was that happened when putting on a custom lever or something but it was just good old rust. Thanks for sharing with us and greetings from Kentucky!
WD40 usually fixes this sort of thing Rea. Sometimes, rain and moisture causes rust to seep in these areas. Glad you figured it out before it became an issue. As always, ride safe! P.S. - This hasn't happened to my Rebel 500 yet 😅. Again, ride safe and God Bless 🙏
Funny you made this video, I had the exact same issue on my 02 Shadow😅 Ended up replacing the whole clutch lever assembly cause it was too far gone lol.
A little squirt of WD40 or a drop of engine oil occasionally. If the other end is exposed, lube it too. Keep your folding footpeg pins lubed too. If there's a nut on the bottom, make sure it's a locking nut.
You should never just trust looking in a mirror. Always, Always look over your shoulder before making a move!!! Ask me how I know that? I was lucky, I lived.

I'm glad it hasn't happened to you yet! I think the weather conditions where I am cause a lot more rust than usual
@@RidewithRea I’m glad I was educated by your video before it could happen. Stay awesome Rea 😎
PB blaster to free up rusty parts, then oil or grease.
Cables too.
And of course, your primary drive chain.

Nice video and thank you for sharing this 😊
thank you!

Ingat, anak.

New Sub! Just getting to know bits about You!
It's not common with hondas. He probably is a Harley fanboy
Honda quality control has gone down as of late. Too many of their bikes are no longer built in Japan 😢
@@lesoram6236 Her chain was really rusty in a previous vid too. I think the problem is that her bike was stored outside at some point.
It's not Honda quality Bruh - that's what happens when you store a bike outdoors👍
It's the salty air from the ocean, that will rust the crap out of anything
I notice that you still don’t trust your mirrors. You keep looking over your shoulder.

It's called checking your blind spot, too many car drivers don't do it.
@@gregd.88 if she got a pair of blind spot stick on mirrors there would be no reason to look over your shoulders.
It's called a Lifesaver, you do it after checking your mirrors and it's mandatory on the test in Britain.
Mirrors? Who rides a bike with mirrors? 🤣
