    Damn, this is so good! On paper, I like the specs of the DK24, thought the pickups would be a little more bluesy hard rock, but you make that So-Cal sound even better. Thanks for not making my decision any easier😝 Subscribed🤘🏻

    Just got my 1st charvel Jim root sig and loving it , I was never a big fender guy but after picking up a boxter tele for half the cost of some of my prs's I've fell in love with the necks and feel of these fender owned companies, there's just something about them esp with shred type playing that feels like home

    Can’t really speak for the SoCal, but I do have that exact blue DK 24 That this guy is playing in the video, and I can say that it’s the best electric guitar I’ve ever owned.
    It’s absolute perfection.
    I even had a 50s Gibson Les Paul, I sold it because I never touched it after playing this thing. Of course, that’s just me. I really connect with the neck and playability.

    I had the same DK24, sent it back, had a weird resonance Hi pitch thin in the first 2 strings after the 12th fret...but that Super Shred Humbucker is Garbage, horribly thin, harsh sound, and I was right because the SoCal sounds WAY Better, maybe my DK24 was a Lemon, but that Super Shred is a bad sounding Humbucker and this video made it clear to me! Great video and playing!

      Some have JB/59 with a coil split and those sound better than either of these to me by far. But I've never liked any other Duncans. You have to be a tinkerer with Charvel because their QA is irritating. Sounds like yours had wide nut slots.

    I have a Chavel So Cal pro mod and a Jackson Adrian Smith USA San Dimas. The Jackson is only slightly better. In the sense that it comes set up and the neck is a bit thinner and it has a German Floyd rose. Thats it, but i do love the HSS pikcup configuration. I love both guitars. The Dk24 looks sweet.

    Great comparison, you got yourself a new subscriber!
    I have taken a look at their neck-specs and they look identical (nut width, radius, scale length). Apart from the flamed maple on the DK24, do these guitars have identical necks in terms of playability/feel?

    Great playing!Makes me want to learn to play like that.I picked up a DK24 used and can get some pretty cool tones out of it.
    The series parallel switch provides some cool greasy strat tones but I spend most of the time trying to keep it in tune.
    The 2 point trem,full route and non staggered tuners do not work for me.
    I will try lubing things up and If that does not work will probably pick up a So Cal or San Dimas with a Floyd.I really like your demo format,makes it easy to go back and forth to compare the tones.thanks.

    • @tommypity
      @tommypity 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, make sure you use a 1.5mm hex wrench inside the bridge pins to lock them properly once you've adjusted the height, it increases tuning stability a lot ;-) also nut sauce will help any guitars tuning.

    Great Demo and both punch way above in quality than the price suggests. I like the width and radius of both but how thick are each necks? I know they aren't going to be chunky like my Les Pauls at .90" thick at the first fret and 1.00" at the 12th, but any chance they are somewhat close to a Fender Strat?

  • @DJ-nl8bu
    @DJ-nl8bu 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've been considering the DK24 over the So Cal or San Dimas because I like the neck profile a bit better and the 24 frets, but I've heard many negative stories about the tuning stability on the dk24. Anybody that has a dk24 able to share some insight on that? Should it deter me from picking up an otherwise fantastic guitar?

    • @voodoochilezee
      @voodoochilezee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a San Dimas and the DK24, and out of the box ultimately I lean SD. They both have their individual characteristics I like. I modified the DK24 A LOT, but it was a fantastic guitar to begin with, and now it is absolutely amazing. You really can’t lose with either guitar.

    • @guyincognito320
      @guyincognito320 ปีที่แล้ว

      My DK22 wasn't bad with a two-way vibrato setup. But I always intended to install a blocker to make it dive-only, so I never seem to need to tweak the tuning when I pick it up in the morning. Simple L-brace blocker with 4 springs and you can do double stops, and the guitar resonates better than a decked strat with a stock bridge.
      DKs are typically 2 lbs lighter than SD/So-Cals, and roasted maple + better jack placement in the back. I just want a hot rodded Strat without a dumb 9.5 radius so DK is the best looking/best neck guitar in that area. I only wish they'd stop putting noisy single coils in when there are so many noiseless pickups out there. As far as SD/So-Cal go, the only detectable difference between the two lines is a pickguard.

    • @pavielanastazie9509
      @pavielanastazie9509 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The main points would be whether you prefer the So-Cals floyd over a non-locking trem, 22 fret neck over 24, or a strat body over the slightly smaller dinky body. Both are excellent guitars.
