Been my main gigging guitar since I got it, and it has blown me away. My favourite thing is the humbucker. It is so powerful that it is basically like a built in boost pedal. I like to swap between the 2-4 positions on the pickup selector for rhythm playing, but when it's time for solos I just flick to just the bridge, and boom. You're golden. No pedals needed.
What's always impressed me about Charvel is their guitars always seemed to be designed for a true gig ready professional guitar player. Impressive guitar.
I ran across a used DK24 Matte Green HSH version in a local shop and bonded with it. I initially walked away but the next weekend walked back in and had to leave with it. Now my favorite guitar.
If charvel upgraded these DK24 pastel models with stainless steel frets but also kept the costs really low (maybe like $50 to $80 extra tops), I think it would be an instabuy for me.
I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I was 100% sold and ready to buy this thing until I realized they didn't come with stainless frets. I was leaning toward a Suhr and while i know that will run me $2500, its got stainless frets and comes Plek't, Hell, id pay $500 more for the Charvel if it came Plek'y with stainless frets.
@@Lovell93 I owned a Gibson Les Paul for 17 years and had to have the frets levelled 3 times in that time. Lot of factors at play. Even PRS who claims to use the hardest nickel available for their frets.... my 2017 CE24 was showing fret wear by 2021. I know everyone's experience is different but I love knowing my custom S guitar with stainless Dunlop frets is pretty much never going to need fret work. I also have become very accustomed to the FEEL of stainless as well.

Ok this is crazy, no joke I finished work yesterday and on the way home I stopped at the guitar store and saw this Charvel. I sat down, played it and instantly fell in love. Then I went home and put my twelve string for sale online and found a buyer today. That money is going towards one of these. You literally made a video on the same day. Incredible.

I 've seen this video when originally released and watched it again couple of days ago. Yesterday I had the chance to try the HH DK24 in Burgundy Mist in my local music shop and I can confirm those Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 are totally insane instruments! You are right to be so excited about them.
I agree with you, haven't bought a new guitar in 11 years. But really want a Pro Mod after playing a couple. Incredibly comfortable to play, great value and amazing bluesey to thrash metal tones
It truly is an amazing guitar I played it and loved it.. I bought a 22 stainless steel frets exotic wood neck from warmoth for my fender Strat with groven locking tuners, now converting 6 screw tremolo to Gotoh 510ts, it has Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge and custom shop fender middle and neck pickups... BUT I still want this, I don't know why.
Never been a Charvel fan but, that sounds pretty good although, I'd probably opt for the HSH version ,nice feature set for the $ . Great demo Hunter ! Rock on !
I get my HH sunburst model tomorrow. I am so stoked that you mention the Thin U profile from ESP/LTD. It is without a doubt my favorite neck profile out of all the guitars I've ever tried.
Mick Mars is very underrated (super well known and all, but often just “the guitarist in MC”). Love his playing, lots of fun interesting riffs. Also D Standard :)
Mick deserves extra credit for being a total original when every guitarist where trying to sound like Eddie, Randy, and Yngwie. That and also his medical condition. True Rock and Roll Warrior !
Richard Binder He’s such a smooth player, so in that way he’s similar to Hendrix, Eddie, and Randy. Dimebag is another one with that “meta type” of playing. But all sound so very unique, which is the cool thing. I’m very fond of Yngwie’s guitar work, but he’s the opposite extreme. He’s just so damn precise. Doesn’t have the groove of the others.
Please don’t ever demo anything else again without roasted maple ...didn’t think it’d be such a dream to play but they are.i have a prestige az I got a good deal on but I’m returning for the Dk24 the c profile az neck gives me cramps...feels like your holding a bat the first few frets
I found a lot of really nice electric guitars. I’ve been really fortunate, to own a couple of Gibson Les Paul’s, fenders, etc. From the moment I bought the Charvel DK24, my mind was blown. It’s genuinely the best feeling most playable guitar I’ve ever played in my life. It’s amazing to the point where I sold my Gibson because I literally didn’t play it.
This is interesting...super strats actually are my thing and the Guthrie Govan charvel sig is a dream guitar for me but I was very underwhelmed by this guitar when I tried it. Beyond the flamboyant colors, I was intrigued by the versatile pickup combos, the non-locking trem, and the roasted maple neck so I was excited to try this guitar. It was easy and enoyable to play but the neck was super thin and flat-backed...almost like an ibanez wizard neck. I also couldn't get a useable sound at of any of pickup combinations maybe except for the neck pickup. The bridge pickup is SUPER bright and icepicky as well as the split positions which are thin and cartoonishly aggressive/spanky sounding. The sounds were way less versatile than you may think and only really suitable for hard rock.The guitar was also really light and flimsy feeling and lacked sustain. I much preferred the indonesian ibanez AZ guitars when i tried those. This is why you shouldn't buy guitars just based on the spec. Make sure to try one!
No problem! Hunter is absolutely killing it with this channel. I love his honesty and that he’s not basically just making commercials for companies like some of the “bigger” channels...
So I actually bought this guitar 1 month ago and it is awesome. I love that guitar and will never give it away but the humbucker is very bright so I actually changed it but now it is a perfect guitar. Definitely worth checking out
@@Lovell93 I dunno, I'll definitely be changing the humbuckers in mine. It's in a weird place at the moment, it's too thick to be a strat but too thin to be a super strat. It's in no-man's land. I'd like mine to sound a little punchier.
shouldn't make any difference! the flat poles are just for flatter radiused fingerboards. Fender fingerboards are usually pretty round, so that's why the SSL-5 has staggered poles
I bought the HSH in November and my god for $1K easily the best value. Plays like butter out of the box and sounds wonderful. Spec’d out perfectly for the versatile music I like to play.
not sure why I love this guitar so much, the look of it. I won't say sound because it just sounds like a strat with duncans, but this guitar is aesthetically pleasing and don't even mind the pink.

Charvel and Kramer are both sleepers. Great guitars a lot of younger players don’t really know about. I love Charvel DK24 guitars. But the ones with the maple fretboard. Cleans are snappy.
Charvel is knocking it out of the park,with these Pro Mod models in the last couple of years. You get a shitload of guitar,for a reasonable price,now if they could more color options that would be even better.
Nooooo dude, the plastic Fender knobs are what put it over the edge! It feels like a player's guitar, NOT something that you just wanna keep on the wall. I like the blend of functionality and beauty of this guitar, and I think that's what makes it so special. It's not trying to be anything it's not.
Just tried this the other day. can get very sweet clean stratty tones on it as well. very much loved the bridge + middle pups together. There is one used and mint in long mcquade Moncton new brunswick right now for those wanting to order
I have the satin orange crush hsh version. It's really a fantastic guitar. Doesn't leave you wanting anything more from it. Except maybe a maple top version

Just got this guitar in from AMS. Same exact condition as you described. All springs floating in bridge cavity. Strange. I set it up and guitar appears to be fine.

I just picked up a 1988 Charvel (MIJ) Model 2 in Burgundy Mist modified with a EMG 81 and a tone knob in amazing condition! A real metal machine!

I wonder if the tremolo spring claw wasn't drawn in enough to keep tension and they became detached from the block. They just kind of push in.

Glad to hear your praise in particular, though I must admit: your frown on 'certain rigs' with the guitar is one I must say should be seen with the argument that a rig back up its instrument! Just got this guitar in from AMS. Same exact condition as you described. All springs floating in bridge cavity. Strange. I set it up and guitar appears to be fine.
I have 2 pro mod HTs. I love them. The Mexican Fender stuff is pretty amazing these days. This guitar is beautiful.
