Had the same exact bike in 74'. I was free, mobile, and 15 years old!

I recently purchased a 1974 AMF H-D SX175 with less than 2k original miles that is exactly, down to the metallic blue color, like my first scrambler owned as a youth at age 14 and purchased with my paper route money. I traded in my beginner cycle that was a Z90 4-speed and both motorcycles were purchased new from the former Rick’s Harley-Davidson in Allentown, PA. 😎

I have a Cagiva SST 125 which is the same bike but sold under the brand Cagiva in Italy, restoring will start tomorrow, my dad bought it when he was 16, has more than 100k km on it and inspecting the piston it looks like it's brand new still, no marks on the cylinder whatsoever, just incredible

I've been on an Aermacchi "restoring" binge.. bring them back to road quality, while maintaining patina. Currently working on a 73 Z90 and 76 SS 125 on my channel. They're neat bikes.

I just picked up the same bike with ~1300 original miles and the one-owner title from its original sale. The only thing missing is the battery cover.
The story I was told is that it was bought in 73 and the owner was KIA in Vietnam soon after. It sat in a garage since he parked it prior to deploying.
I'm not a Harley guy and I'm new to bikes in general but I'm ecstatic about it. I fell in love at first sight.

My first real motorcycle. Mine was a year or two newer, but essentially the same bike.

Nice. Working on a 73 just like it. Engine is ready to install. Didn't have spark before taking apart. Hope it sparks with new battery.

I had a new 1971 model for only 2 years. It was a complete nightmare. I wanted "Made in America", but didn't notice "Made in Italy" until I unloaded it at home. We didn't have the luxury of the Internet in 1971. Most of the problems were electrical. There was no voltage regulation. The headlight brightness was according to how high the engine was revved. I tried to keep the RPMs to a minimum or the sealed beam would blow. Nonetheless, I had to replace several. The light switch went bad very soon after the purchase. The only thing the 6 volt battery seemed to operate was the parking tail light. The dual-range drive train was a nightmare to change, that required chain links to be added and the rear sprockets to be unbolted, rotated into place, and bolted back into place. The 2-cycle oil measuring cup in the underside of the gas cap was totally useless. When the cap was reinstalled, the gas overflowed and went all over the painted gas tank. That's most of what I remember after 49 years, and they are all bad memories. Obviously, I was very dissatisfied and frustrated, especially when I could have had a Suzuki 125 Duster 5-speed for exactly the same price.

I hope the Aermacchi two stroke is more reliable than Piaggio's. I had a 63 Allstate that broke down mercilessly.

Amazing bike. Horrible audio. I understand your challenges though, with wind, etc. Your audio even lacks quality, however, even when you are inside (e.g. echo in such a big room), on all your other videos. I suggest a lapel mic, even if it means going to a separate audio recorder in your pocket and syncing audio and video later during editing...

RICHARD HILL Richard my apologies I was appalled when I listen to the video quality also the audio was really messed up it was extremely windy in fact a tree blew over into Transformers blew up and the hill behind the shop caught on fire all fire department was here total shitshow but in any event no excuses were going to order a special microphone so it doesn't happen again on Monday thanks for your patience and keep on watching God bless
