my grandparents were the same way about their tv, they would NOT let me hook my original xbox up because they were convinced it was going to damage their screen because it was meant for shows/movies not games lol
When i was a kid, we got an nes for xmas and the idea of exploring different worlds by replacing a cartridge was so mind blowing to me as a 5 year old. My mom would take me to the one side of the grocery store to rent 1 game a week, and I looked forward to it every minute. Me and my sister had a sega genesis....an snes....and in middle school I had a ps1....then a ps2. I stopped gaming during high school for a few years. I kept all of our nes games, genesis and snes. One day my sister came home and asked to borrow them.....she ended up pawning them as when I asked for them back later and said they were all stolen. It included lots of heavier hitters like mega man 5, super metroid, boxes of many high quality titles now looking back. Sad day. She also took my gameboy as well. I was always playing that in the backseat as a kid. I began working at a babies r us in high school and stayed there for a while as I was taking classes in college. I got promoted to management over time and ended up getting transferred to the Toys r us side. I was an ops mgr for toys r us and was around the R zone for many years and would end up picking up titles here and there. I had an xbox 360 at the time, and the idea of achievements was a new kind of revelation. I slowly would purchase games especially if there was a clearance deal plus my employee discount. This was also when amiibos started coming out, and I'd pick those up too. I bought a wii u at my store one year. Then shortly after I bought a ps4 with a gift card i got for ordering verizon fios. I have some friends/previous reports who I worked with at TRU, who I ended up promoting that bought me an xbox one for xmas one year, and a switch lite later on. With those consoles in hand, I kept piecing things together. I have about 400 ps4 titles, 200 xbox360, 60 switch titles, and 50 xbox 1 games. I don't have family anymore really and buying games brings back the nostalgia and memories I have of my parents during the holidays. I've never gone to a convention or been around others who collect, although I'm not at the level of many youtubers. I can appreciate the detail it takes to collect and care for things. I like to think that my bookshelves of games as a portfolio of sorts that will explain my gaming tastes. I don't really collect just to collect, but I enjoy enough different games enough to build a collection. Funny enough, Iive in dallas currently, but grew up in Forney, Tx. I think wright way might be in the area based on some of his videos I've seen and just knowing the area.
i’m 26 in august. just picked up my first console as a kid in the box last week to start collecting for. The original Xbox. looking forward to see where this journey takes me
I didn’t seriously started collecting until my Son was showing interest into video games 8 years old. Now, he is 22 and we play video games together. I started buying retro consoles and games. We also saved up for special consoles. It’s fun hobby for Son and I do together
I started collecting videos games just of last year and I first started out with playstation games then moved onto collecting nintendo games. Mr Wright Way really inspired me into collecting and cooper you videos always have such great energy. The videos really show me the joy of gaming and how fun it can be.
I first started playing games when I was 4 years old and was then gifted a NES from my Aunt and her daughters for Christmas. They also gave me 10-15 games. My parents got me a Genesis for Christmas the next year. My parents also got my an N64 the year it came out. I saved up money to buy myself a SNES after that. I have most of the Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox and Sega consoles. I also kept my games and did not sell them off, except for a couple I didn't like. So when I started really collecting in 2012 (the year after college) I didn't have to go rebuy games from my childhood. Their a local store in my area that opened and it opened my eyes to games I did not even know about. I also started finding other game stores in my area to go and watching TH-cam videos about hidden gems and buying guides for consoles. The Gameye app really helped me organize what I had in the collection and what I wanted on my wish list.
For anyone wanting to get into collecting I recommend starting with sub sets. For example I started collecting the SSX games all in sealed condition. Also a Megaman zero gba sealed collection games that I really enjoy and wish to keep. Doing entire game set collections are deff to extreme for me 😅 but this way I can still collect and enjoy my purchase.
I got back into gaming a few years ago (2018). Getting an XboxOne S, and a Switch, and a PS4. I played games like Gears 4, and Breath of the wild, Mario Odyssey, and The Last of Us remastered. After playing these games, I immediately got started into collecting. I brought up nostalgia of all the games I used to play in the 90’s (the the consoles I had); Like the NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, GameGear. I thought of games like Mario Bros, Zelda, Mario RPG , Killer instinct, Megaman 2, Contra, Zonic, Jurassic Park, Mortal Kombat 2 , NBA Jam tournament edition. After this. I immediately started collecting, and have ever since. And I started my YT channel as well with my friend who had a massive gaming collection at the time. Ive never looked back. 😎🎮💪🔥
My Mother used to Work at Child's World in the 80s. I received an Nes in late 80s for Christmas with a few games. That started it all, from there I was lucky enough to get almost every Console after that till I was old enough to buy them myself. Mario, Punch Out, Jackal and Mega Man some of my fondest memories playing.
Great video, I love Mr. Wright Way! It’s a long story, but in short, as a child I was selectively mute. My parents were trying to get me to open up. They noticed how much I loved playing the NES at my Aunt’s house so one Christmas they surprised me with a Super Nintendo. Super Mario world helped teach me how to read. Our next console was the N64 in the early 2000’s. I was blown away by Ocarina of Time. When I beat the game, I even wrote to Nintendo. They responded back with a letter and an autographed photo of Link from US Devs. I was so fascinated by Zelda that I wanted the next one. When I found out Twilight Princess was coming out, I saved up all I could and eventually bought my own GameCube. The game ended up not being released until way later, but my brother and I shared a lot of fond memories with that system. Funnily enough, I fell out of gaming due to sports and pursuing music in our local band scene. I didn’t play Twilight Princess until my junior year of high school in 2009/10 when a friend let me borrow it. (It might be my favorite Zelda game.) I would play games a little bit here and there, usually halo 3 at a friends or the time my girlfriend introduced me to Assassin’s Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead, but I was by no means collecting or owned anything but a GameCube. When I graduated High School in 2011, bought myself a graduation gift in July. Finally, an Xbox 360. It was a black “elite” model with a couple of games, NCAA Football and Halo Reach. Around the same time bought Assassin’s Creed, Alone in the Dark, Bioshock, and Condemned. All of those games were great but my friends and I really got into Halo Reach, and that started my love for that franchise ever since. Now here I am 12 years later not missing a beat. My wife and I currently own every modern console, even multiples of each so we can play together. We’re both lovers of physical media and keep Cooper in business from across the country (lol). We’re not going after full libraries like Cooper but some of our favorite games/series are Halo, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Assassin’s creed, and more. I could keep going and dive deeper but this is just a comment section for Christs sake! If you made it this far, thank you for reading.
I was a console gamer as a kid. I got an original dmg gameboy hand-me-down when I was 7 in 1998. I asked for a N64 for Christmas that year and I got my first video game console with Banjo Kazooie, SM64 & Diddy Kong Racing. I eventually got a Gamecube, GBA, PSone, original Xbox, Xbox 360 throughout my school years and then when I went to college in 2009 my last console from then was a PS3. While I was in high school I had so many games. I loved collecting, looking for deals & having shelves of games in my bedroom but in 2007 I built my first gaming PC and by the time I graduated college in 2013 I was mainly a PC gamer. I ended up selling all my console games when I moved after graduation (luckily I kept my original N64 & Gamecube). By the time 2017 came around I was building a $3k gaming PC and had completely left console gaming in the dust. In late 2019 my kids actually asked for a Switch for Christmas since they played it at my sister's house when they went over. I bought it a few months before Christmas and ended up playing it while the kids were asleep in November and December of 2019 before Christmas. Breath of the Wild became my nighttime secret and I felt just like a kid again myself sneaking around my parents to stay up (ironically I was sneaking around my kids so I didn't spoil a Christmas present). I ended up just buying them another Switch before Christmas and kept that Switch my wife and I. Then COVID hit in 2020. Animal Crossing became our life just like most people in the summer of 2020 and this led my down a rabbit-hole of console gaming again. I ended up buying a 3DS, Wii U & PS4 during COVID the following year and then of course lockdown really cemented me back in to console gaming. I now have every console from every generation from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. I have over 500 physical consoles games now. I truly feel like a kid again; it's like I finally have the collection I dreamed about when I went to Target or WalMart as a kid and drooled over the glass full of games. I still enjoy PC Gaming but I'm about 80/20 now Console/PC gaming. My gaming PC is also my workstation for mixing/mastering audio so having dedicated consoles for gaming has also really helped me separate my workspace from gaming and I've enjoyed both better for that reason as well.
I started collecting when I was about 19-20 (I’m only 21, turning 22 in a couple months, so it hasn’t been long😅). It started with me feeling nostalgic for the PS2. I sold mine back to GameStop when I was like 7 for a whopping $40, I thought I was rich at the time. Anyway, I bought a PS2 from a local retro game store and I was kinda hooked from there, began buying way more physical copies of games and I started collecting a lot for the PS3. It’s a fun hobby and I’m glad I got into it :)
We as a podcast group have been collecting video games since the 80s. I (ReidimusMaximus) have been collecting since the 90s but my very first game I ever played was paper boy on the Super Nintendo and heavily got into Pokémon. I just completed my Japanese set of Pokémon titles. Such a fulfilling feeling owning my childhood again!
My collecting of retro games started during the PS4 era...I simply just got tired of tons of FPS games, online only games, constant updates, etc...I just went back to collecting and playing games PS2 and earlier. I've modded my Switch with a bunch of retro emulators, my phone has emulators, my laptop has emulators, I bought one of those 150 in 1 NES cartridges to play the hard to find or expensive games (like Little Samson). Although I did import a Famicom and Disk system back in 2008 because I wanted the full experience of playing Super Mario Bros 2 as it was meant to be...still have not beaten it
My granny used to call them stories too haha! I forgot all about that until now. She was also from the south. And was very protective of the color tv hahaha!
I was a gamer since the days of the atari. I didnt have one but a neighbor did. Then eventually another neighbor got an NES and i would go over to his house and play it as long as he would allow. Got my own later on the SNES for xmas a few years later. I went from SNES to ps1 shortly after it came out, my first console I ever bought on my own. Had a mc d's job at 15 so I could afford it. Ive since had ever PS console. Ive never considered myself a collector all though i have my NES and SNES still and some games for it. I only actually recently started collecting, probably at the times games exploded in price in 2020. I just played them until then. My collection is super small but its a lot of fun to do, adds more then just playing them. Love to see @Mr. Wright Way in here!! Im 44 also so I remember black and white tvs to play on too!
To comment on the question did I have anyone around me like friends or family that were into video games. My answer is yes, my brother, cousins neighbors and friends were into video games. They progressed with the times and newer video games and gave or sold me their old video games. So they were into it, but I always was happy to end up with their games.
I'm really enjoying my PS1 game collecting process. It's really the ideal console for me. Games are really cheap so you find fun games that you can enjoy again and again very easily you are not breaking the bank
What got me started was a £10 chipped PS1 in a blockbuster case. And then Sega Lord X with my Saturn collection I love 2D 90s games. I collected in bits and pieces in my 20s but then my house got robbed so lost a lot but then when I found that magical ps1 it was open season! Both your stories are great and Mr Wright Way I’ve always been a hustler too many times in school I did quite well and it all went on vinyl records as I’ve been collecting them since 16 😊👊👊
When you asked the question, did you ever sell or trade games. My answer is no with a few exceptions. I am happy with the games I collect and plan to play all of them. Back in around 2012-2016 or so, whenever Wii games and PS2 games were super cheap at Gamestop, I picked up a few games and tried them. They were so bad I went back to return them and got something else or my money back. If it was one games I didn't like, it wasn't worth my time to go back and return a $1 dollar game. The group of games I got that I returned were PS2 Maximo Ghosts to glory, Sprint cars Road to Knoxville, Legends of Wrestleing, WWE crush hour, World destruction league, Escape from Monkey Island, Star trek encounters, Transformers, Robotech Battlecry, Alfa romero racing, driven, IHRA Drag racing. For the Wii it was Kidz sports hockey and baseball, spy games elevator mission, impossible mission. For the Nindendo DS it was Myst, Noahs ark, After, Moshi Monsters, Winters tail. Those games I would naver play again after trying them. So I returned them. Some other ones that I have that are really bad for example is Wiffle ball for the DS, but its not worth me going back and selling them for so little. What I should do is put all those games that suck together and sell them or give them to someone.
Intellivision was my first console. I just bought games to play and I did not realise that there was collector side of it. Of course, like MJR I played a lot of games as PC version. Then later I got PS1 and original Xbox. And then later PS2, PS3 and PS4...
GameCube was my first console ever. I was that stupid kid who traded it in for an Xbox 360 or something like that, and so, in more recent years since I wanted to get my GameCube games back so I started “collecting.” That turned into buying a 3ds, psp 3000, gba sp, custom gba sp, and vita. So now I’m collecting for all those along with having a ps5 and Xbox series X. Basically, I’ve always been a gamer but it wasn’t until this year that I really had all the consoles I wanted to collect for.
I just always like playing games. I never considered myself a collector. I somewhat still don't. I just came to the realization that I colected things that I like. I don't have a goal of collecting a complete set of any system. I just collect what I am going to play. It started when I was a kid. My parents had an intellivision. Then I went to other peoples houses and they had a nintendo. Then I wanted a nintendo. I got one and loved it and I just always loved getting and playing video games. I really started getting huge amounts when I realized games were super cheap like 1-5 dollars at funcoland. Then whenever I was out and about games were getting sold really cheap and I have always colleced that way. Garage sales would have games super cheap and I would buy them. Nowadays games are either gone or near ebay prices. The last times I saw games cheap was probably before the pandemic. After the pandemic, the prices of everything went up and stayed up. So I really slowed down with collecting and lowered my expectations. I am very happy and greateful that I picked up all those games when I did. Now when I'm out and about I see dvds really cheap. That is also something that I have been collecting and watching for years. Luckily, there are not a lot of people who are looking at dvds. So I am able to pick up huge amounts really cheap. I have a lot of tings that I like. The problem is space.
My sister and I got a NES for Christmas 1992 from an aunt. There was a junk store next door to where my mother worked. They sold nes games for $1 so every day mom would let me buy 1. Built that up and just moved on to other systems as they came out.
Always had video games since my dad bought us a Sega Master system way back. But never collected just played, until last year when after playing Pokemon go with my boys I was like I want to play one of those old pokemon gameboy games... so I bought one... then It has grown from their. Now I am trying to figure how far do I actually want to take it and what direction... complete sets are really awesome, but not my personal goal at this point... now it's just have fun with my boys playing and collecting retro games.
I’ve been going to prge since I was really little. Then when I was 12 I bought an old GameCube game to play. This would have been about 2016 or 2017 and I played it so much then I started buying more GameCube then I got a switch and it blew up since then.
I was buying and selling in the late 90s. Nobody cared much about the nes or snes games like they do now. It was more about the playstation and saturn back then.
I believe "collecting" is a more recent thing in video games. When nes came out, it was still a new form of media entertainment. Then people moved onto SNES, then N64, then GameCube, then Wii, etc., Then all the sudden, we have collections, lol.
That question, if I had 200k what would I buy gamewise? I kind of want a few PS2 RPGs like Wild Arms 5 and Suikoden 5, but for now I found other ways of playing them. Other than that, I have a wish list of games that look interesting to me. I would go though that. I did get most of my top tier games and am very satisfied. So my wishlist I can get when I feel like it.
I’m kinda getting into collecting games lol. All I really have right now is a bunch of ps3-ps4 games and a few ps5. I have a bunch of gb/n64ps2/ps1 games some where at my parents I need to find lol.
Still have some super Nintendo games and nes games and playstation 2 and PS3 games and my favorite MegaMan x5 game and not the MegaMan x collection but MegaMan x5 by itself use cheat code to get the black armor for zero awesome deal on that cheat code and it's free
2000-2002 it was the good era Nintendo 64 WrestleMania 2000, Zelda Majora's mask and Zelda ocarina of time and pokemon gold version silver and crystal version and replay pokemon red blue and yellow version and super Mario 64 and playstation 1 console breath of fire 3 in 2002 and super smash bros for Nintendo 64 and In 2002 my friends brought up something if I have super Nintendo and Sega Genesis I told them yes and my friend wanted my Chrono trigger so bad I gave it to him because I figured it was way too short and I had final fantasy chronicles and it was Chrono trigger and final fantasy 4 on it and i said to my other friends about super Mario world and they said that it was way too easy to complete the game So I laughed and I had earthworm Jim 2 I wasn't playing it and let my friends use it they gave it back and said that the second stage of earthworm Jim 2 was too hard getting out of the dirt stage and never fought the bugs that would produce new bugs on that stage that would get harder when you hit the big bug. I was a collector of Gameboy color and regular Gameboy games and still play video games to this day. I still play MegaMan x for super Nintendo and MegaMan x5 for playstation 1. At one point I did have champions of norrath for playstation 2 and I lt would be too hard to play because you're on foot fighting monsters and they're everywhere and more clever. I played pokemon gold and silver and crystal version from best buy and buying breath of fire 3 from where house music for $18.87 in very good condition complete manual case and game. Uniracers and turtles in time 4 and final fantasy 3 and super Mario world were my favorite super Nintendo games. I had a Sega Genesis model 2 system and play a Garfield game and it was so fun and dragon quest 8 for playstation 2 with the strategy guide in 2006 still have disc only and dhoulmagus was the 7 rpg boss fight that was awesome. My top rpg boss fights in video games. 1. Kefka final fantasy 3 2. Geist breath of fire 3 3. Ganondorf Zelda ocarina of time 4. Majora's mask 5. Doom gaze final fantasy 3 6. Culex super Mario rpg 7. Dhoulmagus dragon quest 8
Thank You so much.
Lets do it again soon!
my grandparents were the same way about their tv, they would NOT let me hook my original xbox up because they were convinced it was going to damage their screen because it was meant for shows/movies not games lol
@@stankyyboi so so true lol
this was a very fun video to watch!

Love these chill videos of you talking with other creators. So glad you are back!
Gentlemen like you really keep me inspired to keep my retro Gaming collection going 😊
What I should do is put all those games that suck together and sell them or give them to someone.
really enjoyed this chat, lots of fun memories!
Basically, I’ve always been a gamer but it wasn’t until this year that I really had all the consoles I wanted to collect for.
my friend had a black and green tv. which was a commodore monitor I believe. We would play sega genesis on it.
Yo this video was a whole vibe of positive energy.
What's up peeps of course it's Chad shouting out from Grifton Nc. And what's up Mr.Wright Way. ❤
What’s up my dude
Y'all have good vibes awesome video 👍
I started collecting again in 2019 with my kid. Our favorite thing to collect is graded games. We also collect Pokemon cards.
I have a bunch of gb/n64ps2/ps1 games some where at my parents I need to find lol.
ah your back ... nice
🗣Whaddup, #MrWrightWay and #SicCooper‼
Watched the whole thing… I had no idea wtf he said the entire time 😊
You become a collector when you stop selling your old games back to GameStop hehe
Still have some super Nintendo games and nes games and playstation 2 and PS3 games and my favorite MegaMan x5 game and not the MegaMan x collection but MegaMan x5 by itself use cheat code to get the black armor for zero awesome deal on that cheat code and it's free
2000-2002 it was the good era Nintendo 64 WrestleMania 2000, Zelda Majora's mask and Zelda ocarina of time and pokemon gold version silver and crystal version and replay pokemon red blue and yellow version and super Mario 64 and playstation 1 console breath of fire 3 in 2002 and super smash bros for Nintendo 64 and In 2002 my friends brought up something if I have super Nintendo and Sega Genesis I told them yes and my friend wanted my Chrono trigger so bad I gave it to him because I figured it was way too short and I had final fantasy chronicles and it was Chrono trigger and final fantasy 4 on it and i said to my other friends about super Mario world and they said that it was way too easy to complete the game
So I laughed and I had earthworm Jim 2 I wasn't playing it and let my friends use it they gave it back and said that the second stage of earthworm Jim 2 was too hard getting out of the dirt stage and never fought the bugs that would produce new bugs on that stage that would get harder when you hit the big bug.
1. Kefka final fantasy 3
2. Geist breath of fire 3
3. Ganondorf Zelda ocarina of time
4. Majora's mask
5. Doom gaze final fantasy 3
6. Culex super Mario rpg
7. Dhoulmagus dragon quest 8
