- Today, we're going to have a really close look at this castle-like hotel in the heart of Edmonton. The Hotel MacDonald, we're told, was built by the railroad in 1915!
100th Avenue and 100th Street NW. Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Hi Scott. My pleasure. It was a lovely day to poke around here and sneak a peek. Thanks. Cheers!
She’s a beauty Frankie, thank you for sharing ❤
Hiya Cathy. She sure is. I had a blast exploring Edmonton and this lovely place was certainly a highlight for me. Thanks and take care. Cheers!
That place is always a good time. Beautiful day for a nice set Frankie!
Hey Rothrods. Thanks a lot. Yeah, it was a perfect day to have a closer look at this beauty. Have a good one. Cheers!
Wow thanks for your time.
Hiya Lady Lacey. Thank you very much. It's certainly a pleasure to explore a lovely place like this. Have a good one. Cheers!
Very good building. Good coverage. Thanks Frankie.
Hey George. Thanks bud. I was very happy to finally get up here to have a look and share it with everyone. Take care. Cheers!
Nice boots buds..
Hey Chris. Oh, thanks a lot there, eh bud. Yeah, this place is pretty phenomenal. Cheers!
Beauty of a building, wonder if it's self powered, guessing so with all that copper in the roofing, also very close to that funicular, building is most likely the power source for it as well mate ? 👍
Hi Von. Could be. I think that, if not now, than at least in the past. It may have gathered power and distributed it through to nearby buildings... just a thought, but who knows? It sure is a beauty though. Cheers!
Yeah I think so too, the larger buildings supplied energy to infrastructure and the smaller buildings and utilities around them.
Pretty sure the corrosion in the roofing gives it away that it's not operating but the buildings with Gold roofs like the Iowa State capital etc may still be operational, who knows
@@Von_YT23 Oh yeah. That Iowa State capital building is on another level man!
I have travelled back and forth to EDM and have often scoped out this building. Didn’t know it had a funiculaire! Even Old Quebec has one right in the heart of their old city. Fascinating.
Hi Bandigraham. Yeah, this place is quite beautiful. The Chateau Frontenac in Quebec city is on another level... I used to live in Montreal so I've seen it a few times in my childhood on family trips up to Quebec city for Carnivale in the winter. Thanks and have a good one. Cheers!
👍🏰
Hi Filip-I. Yep... that's what I thought: a castle disguised as a hotel. Thanks a lot. Cheers!
Check out Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise...you can totally wander around inside...the interiors are incredible
Hey Nancy. Yep, they are both on my list to explore. Will have to wait until spring or summer, but a guy will get there. Cheers!
I think the V is silent hahaha ....... it's pronounced Bohemian 🤫 thanks Frankie
Hiya George. Bavarian/Bohemian... either way, she's a head-scratcher. LOL! Thanks a lot bud. Cheers!
