hating people who are like "well they only care about mirabel" cuz its like YEAH only because mirabel is having a crisis in this movie, but you can clearly see they're concerned for they're other children when they need to be!

I want to see Julieta encouraging her daughters to explore the things they really want to do, I want to see Félix and Pepa aggressively support Dolores and her relationship with Mariano, I want to see Bruno get re-introduced back into the town, I want to see Mirabel help her family members open up, and whatnot.

Some fun facts about Agustín (sorry if my english is a bit broken): -I've seen some people curious about how Agustín wears clothes so different from the rest of the family. This is because he's a cachaco, which is how people from Bogotá (the capital city) were called during a big part of the XX century, and one of their main characteristics was that they always dressed in an elegant and formal way, despite the weather or the occasion. -The song he plays at 1:36 is called "En Barranquilla me quedo" by famous salsa singer Joe Arroyo. -This I'm not so sure, but I like to think that his allergic reactions are a reference to the fact that since Bogotá is a very cold city with few bugs compared to other parts of the country, some cachacos (or rolos, how bogotans are called nowadays) get aggressive reactions to bug bites when they travel to warmer regions.
Also more fun facts. Even when Agustin is allergic to bugs like bees he still wears Isabela's flower and I think his socks are different colored to represent both Luisa and Mirabel. The sock detail im not quite sure of so correct me if im wrong :))

This movie broked the traditional disney chain in small ways: 1- main character with siblings with a role 2- sibling arguments are sassy and realistic (ahem frozen) 3- no main animal sidekick 4- songs really have a meaning in the movie 5- no traveling outside main setting to discover something 6- household isnt holding a title like the chiefs/princess 8- songs dont need to show off how Colombian they are (through cultural pride like in Moana, not that there is something wrong) Anyone else wanna name a few more?

This was the part when I almost stopped watching the movie. This part hurted me so much… Mirabella being ignored by everyone just because she didn’t get a gift. But I’m so glad I kept watching. This movie is just amazing ❤️
What's interesting is that Abuela accepts the husbands, Agustin and Felix, in the family pictures even though they don't have powers BUT she doesn't accept Mirabel. (I think it's because Mirabel is blood-related to her and should, genetically speaking, receive powers but she didn't.) But if Abuela wanted strictly members with powers the husbands shouldn't be in the pictures...
She accepted the men because they were adults, they were as good as they could get. Mirabel she watched grow up a normal and that was scary and disappointing. To Abuela.

Reunites with Mirabel covered in bee stings and he's like, "Don't worry about me, I'll be alright". That's a father we all wish to have. But seriously how does he get stung in the exact same spots as before? The bees are just hungry for my guy.
Am sorry if my mother was deliberately leaving my child out of stuff,pushing her aside and constantly putting her down I was not participating in any activities and I was even moving out with my family and leaving her their with the magic she's loves so much. The parents added to the mistreatment by standing aside and allowing it to happen although they tried to reassure maribel their participation allowed abuela to do it for so long.
you do have a good point about how the maribel's parents were often bystanders in the situation; but i also think that it contributed to the theme of generational trauma in this movie. julieta and agustin clearly love and care about maribel, but there's not much they can do in regards to the power abuela has in the family. because abuela 'runs the show,' everyone looks to her for guidance and keeping the family together; therefore, maribel's parents can't always do as much they'd like for their daughter because it would be actively telling abuela that she doesn't know what she's doing (which causes tension in this power dynamic of respect for elders). maribel was the only one who had enough courage to stand up to abuela once and for all; this breaks that tension and allows for open, healthy communication about weaknesses within the family.
Throughout the movie Julieta told Abuela several times to treat Maribel nicely and that she’s always been hard on her. It’s very common to see this sort of family system in Latino countries such as my own. It’s normal but honestly quite sad as there is always someone with a higher power (in this case Abuela) and everyone has to simply abide by the rules, since it’s just simply the custom.

What I love about this character is because his voice actor voiced in my childhood series, Handy Manny. He plays the character Manny, if you don't know.

What's interesting is that Abuela accepts the husbands, Agustin and Felix, in the family pictures even though they don't have powers BUT she doesn't accept Mirabel. (I think it's because Mirabel is blood-related to her and should, genetically speaking, receive powers but she didn't.) But if Abuela wanted strictly members with powers the husbands shouldn't be in the pictures...
She accepted the men because they were adults, they were as good as they could get.
Mirabel she watched grow up a normal and that was scary and disappointing. To Abuela.
I feel like some of the scenes also tried to show in Mirabel's perspective on how distant and how she probably doesnt feel included with her own family which made me relate to her a little

Am sorry if my mother was deliberately leaving my child out of stuff,pushing her aside and constantly putting her down I was not participating in any activities and I was even moving out with my family and leaving her their with the magic she's loves so much. The parents added to the mistreatment by standing aside and allowing it to happen although they tried to reassure maribel their participation allowed abuela to do it for so long.
you do have a good point about how the maribel's parents were often bystanders in the situation; but i also think that it contributed to the theme of generational trauma in this movie. julieta and agustin clearly love and care about maribel, but there's not much they can do in regards to the power abuela has in the family. because abuela 'runs the show,' everyone looks to her for guidance and keeping the family together; therefore, maribel's parents can't always do as much they'd like for their daughter because it would be actively telling abuela that she doesn't know what she's doing (which causes tension in this power dynamic of respect for elders). maribel was the only one who had enough courage to stand up to abuela once and for all; this breaks that tension and allows for open, healthy communication about weaknesses within the family.
Throughout the movie Julieta told Abuela several times to treat Maribel nicely and that she’s always been hard on her. It’s very common to see this sort of family system in Latino countries such as my own. It’s normal but honestly quite sad as there is always someone with a higher power (in this case Abuela) and everyone has to simply abide by the rules, since it’s just simply the custom.

@@biancaaraujo3424 Yeah but the problem with this argument is that both Luisa and Isabela were hiding what they were really feeling due to their gifts. Yes, they could have done more I agree, but there's only so much they could do if they didn't know the full extent of their daughters' feelings.
