Some more info on Kuruk: He actually saved the world multiple times and didn’t attend to the human world as he was occupied with the spirit world as Yangchen largely neglected it. He had to fight off dark spirits which sucked the life out of him which is why he died so young. He still continued to fight the dark spirits after he knew this and decided to tell nobody. He was the opposite of a selfish avatar, he was selfless but he still chose to keep the information about the spirits to himself.
I think he became self-less because of the abduction of Ummi, as his actions previous to her were selfish. after their wedding day, he then dedicated himself to saving her and then the world

@@cripplingdepression213 all avatars are the same, it's the concept of reincarnation. Where one soul goes to another body upon ones death. Another reincarnation theory is when someone dies there soul splits. Creating essential a new soul.
@@cripplingdepression213 each avatar affects the new avatar, normally the avatar keeps getting stronger and stronger upon each new life because of being able to access to all knowledge due to raava. Hence Yancheen did such a good job that Kurkruk was almost free of all tasks.
In the new kiyoshi book it was revealed he was actually a very good avatar secretly fighting off dark spirits entering the human world. He saved the world a bunch of times but kept it secret because fighting the spirits drained your life force
The new Kyoshi novels shed a light on Avatar Kuruk's mostly unknown heroism. The video called "Yangchen is the reason Kuruk died so young." Sheds a new light on him
can I just say how RECKLESS is the decision to destroy all the past lives of the Avatar? it's stupid and reckless, showing no respect or care for the series. with one scene, every avatar spirit was destroyed, forever. this might be the sole reason why we would never see more of the series, at least not how it was with The Last Airbender.
I do see people not understanding what happened, the same happens with people not understanding the ending of part 6 in Jojo's. The spirits of the avatars still exist in the spiritual world, they were not destroyed, but the link that tied their souls to the current avatar was. The new avatar rebuilding that link could be a good idea.
@@ofekofek7058 There is nothing that suggest that can't be the case. Because YangChen favored humans more than the spirits, avatar kuruk must re-balance it.Though he seems always chill and funny guy,he did everything to make all things OK.I owe kuruk a recognition even Koh stole her wife's face.
Actually I'd say he definitely looks like Aang if he was in his late teens/early 20's and then the Aang we see in Korra, is Aang in his mid thirties/early forties.
okay but the Kyoshi novels show Kuruk had to constantly hunt dark spirits because of Yangchen's choices, which damaged his spirit & contributed to his early death
If you are wondering where he got all this info its from the book written by one of the original writers. It’s called RISE OF KYOSHI there is no pictures and it’s writing is great and intricate enough for adults
I don't knoww why but kuruk was my favorite avatar when I was child even we barely seen him and I still love him maybe he didn't do too much but thats because of he born in a peaceful era
Actually in his free time he fought off dark spirits. And it weakened his own spirit. That’s why he died so young and it was his own avatar duty, he fought off all the dangerous spirits many of whom hated him bc of Yang Chen (she often sided with humans and that didn’t sit right with the spirits).
Kuruk is definitely my favorite avatar, he was the most selfless avatar and he solved all of yangchens problems, nobody knew how brave he was and he’s definitely the most under appreciated avatar.
Maybe they're just very unlucky to their lineup. If you think about it, most avatars contradict their immediate past life. Kuruk is irresponsible and reckless while the airbender before him (I'm not good with names) was very serious about being the Avatar; to the point that she almost neglected her personal life. Kyoshi lived a very long and responsible life as compared to Kuruk. Roku was more compassionate and more merciful in his way of handling things than Kyoshi. And finally, Aang ran away out of fear of being the Avatar when Roku spent his entire life mastering the four elements. Aang later grew to be a better Avatar, having a strong connection to the Spirit World, Korra on the other hand had an easy time learning the elements but struggled connecting with the spirits.
So the book Shadow of Kiyoshi got released this week and sheds new light on Kuruk and his time as an Avatar. Please consider a redo on this one so he gets the respect he deserves!
Kuruk was worse than Korra no question. Their lives were totally different, Korra did her best but she was way younger than him and had to fight crazy evil enemies. Amon wanted to destroy all bending including the avatar, Vatuu wanted to kill everyone basically and significantly hurt her power in the process, Zaheer also wanted to kill her and destroy the Avatar process, which that fight disabled her and left her with PTSD. Kuvira was legit the only normal villain she faced and that went very well. Korra had flaws no doubt and she wasn't the best Avatar or bender by far, but I love her and her life was crazy. Also there's a reason they wait until 16 to tell then they're the Avatar, we see that with Aang, Korra was again in a different situation and was raised in isolation knowing who she was. She loved it, or thought she did, and thanks to that was not prepared at all for what she had to face when she left. Justice for Korra 2020
Thanks for saying this, everyone's always hating on Korra, but honestly she was written to be in different circumstances so the shows wouldn't be the same. She's not a bad Avatar she's just a really different one.
Kuruk isn’t the worst he was prob the best, he fought off dark spirits that’s how he died early, the reason people like Yangchen so much is bcz of kuruk bcz he was focused on keeping her title clean
Blue Bird now that the new novel is out. I feel so sad people bashing Kuruk. He was such a fire avatar saving the world from dark spirts while taking severe physical and mental damage
Kuruk isn't irresponsible, trust me, you need to read the Kyoshi Novels, turns out Avatar Yangchen isn't even as good as you guys thought, AND turns out his death is more than you think. ONCE AGAIN, PLEASE READ THE KYOSHI NOVELS I'M LITERALLY BEGGING YOU...😭
@Green Sky could you explain why roku was irresponsible,? Sozin's plans was kept at bay because of Roku. If you will argue that Roku could've killed his friend when he had a chance, what would that entail? A murderous avatar killing the firelord. Both of them was at a stalemate, Sozin not able to move because of Roku's threat, and Roku not able to kill him because he is still his friend, and what reason would he have to kill Sozin? Sozin started the war after Roku died, because he was afraind of him. The only fault of Roku was he died.
To anyone who finds this, Kuruk was cursed by a powerful spirit, the curse not only effected his soul but it cursed the Avatar Soul, which explains a lot of the Avatars past Kuruk suffered great misfortune
7:30 = It was later revealed that Koh stole Umi's face because of Kuruk's massacre of several hundred spirits for sport. As for how he died? He was killed in battle with a Powerful Spirit named Father Glow worm, but the battle ended in a draw for both of them died!
It was yangchens fault that evil spirits were rising and kuruk was the avatar who had to deal with it, he killed them but everytime he killed one it drained his life away, thats why he lived so short, he never told anyone because yanchen was seen as a god by the airnomads and the earthkingdom and he didnt want to ruin that
"they had a legendary friendship" kuruk: *was thought to be neglectful but actually was doing bunch of stuff with the spirits, then died* jianzhu: *kills kelsang and then poisons hei-ran, then dies himself* hei-ran: "if jianzhu was only alive right now i would kill him" kelsang: *is dead* um,, yeah
By killing off all the past avatars, I lost complete faith in the future of the series. Don't get me wrong, I still hated korra's series, but at least there was hope that it would be better. Only TLA is canon in my head canon now.
@@mouth4war880 The Avatar usually fixes the largest mistake the previous Avatar made. I:E, Whorra bringing back the Air Benders or Aang ending the 100 year war. The Legend of Korra is a tale of extreme change and modernization, it was never meant to be the same as The Last Airbender. It shows us that not every avatar is a perfect peace maker. The reason why the creators refuse to make more stuff is because people like you are so nostalgic for the first series that you close off to the change and compare every little thing to the original, refusing to acknowledge the best aspects of the Legend of Korra. Let the Legend of Korra be a metaphor for the change you people refuse to acknowledge.
Avatar kuruk is still In the spirit world, as is every avatar. It's just that they lost connection with raava, just like Korra did. But since raava entered Korra again, the cycle starts again. It's not like they ceased to exist like you said, but they no longer can communicate with future avatars.
Yeah,he was called the worst avatar of all time but he was fighting a dangerous spirit by himself because yangcheng neglected her responsibilities and he decided even though his friends could help his body from the spirits that were infecting his body like a virus he didn't want them to get infected as well yangcheng was the reason he died in such a young age but everyone worshipped her while no one realized his sacrifice except kyoshi and yangcheng herself
People- think kuruk is the worst avatar for being chill and living life. Korra who literally wiped all of her past lives from existence- Am I joke to you?

It’s a shame he died before he could get a redeem ark. He could’ve gone on to change his ways as the avatar and leave a legacy, he probably died after losing his love feeling he had nothing to live for and therefore became more reckless than usual.
He redeemed himself in his next life as kysoshi.

@@Cloverfr there is nothing to suggest that they can do that
@@ofekofek7058 There is nothing that suggest that can't be the case.
Every avatar had taken care of the previous avatar's mistake, Aang taking care of the 100 years war Roku could have ended, Korra taken care of the genocide of Aang's people by allowing new benders to exist.
There is a video that relationates every avatar biggest regret into the goals or foundations of the next avatar.
It's quite interesting, there is most likely that within her lifespan Korra can never restore the link that was broken, nonless, is something the next avatar can accomplish.

Actually I'd say he definitely looks like Aang if he was in his late teens/early 20's and then the Aang we see in Korra, is Aang in his mid thirties/early forties.
*oh no* i can't unsee it
This is why I love the philosophy of avatar the last airbender an the lore of it.
This is the best Halloween gift I could ever want.
okay but the Kyoshi novels show Kuruk had to constantly hunt dark spirits because of Yangchen's choices, which damaged his spirit & contributed to his early death
If you are wondering where he got all this info its from the book written by one of the original writers. It’s called
RISE OF KYOSHI
there is no pictures and it’s writing is great and intricate enough for adults
The one that gives you more information about Kuruk's life is SHADOW OF KYOSHI
I don't knoww why but kuruk was my favorite avatar when I was child even we barely seen him and I still love him maybe he didn't do too much but thats because of he born in a peaceful era
Actually in his free time he fought off dark spirits. And it weakened his own spirit. That’s why he died so young and it was his own avatar duty, he fought off all the dangerous spirits many of whom hated him bc of Yang Chen (she often sided with humans and that didn’t sit right with the spirits).
So both the avatars that we know of from the water tribe suck.

This guy's personality match with sokka
Imagine sokka as Avatar
Sokka if their family wasn't torn apart by the Fire nation
If Sokka were the avatar, or even just a bender, the series would've made it MAYBE one season.
He would be astounding as one!!!
The show if he was a bender: Sokka, and his good friend the avatar
If sokka was the avatar, imagine how many children would say that their father is the avatar 🤭
Kuruk is definitely my favorite avatar, he was the most selfless avatar and he solved all of yangchens problems, nobody knew how brave he was and he’s definitely the most under appreciated avatar.
So, the water avatars are always terrible at their job.
Seems about right
Maybe they're just very unlucky to their lineup.

*Kyoshi
This video does an insane injustice to Kuruk. He did so much more, but no one knew the burden he shouldered.
I always imagined that Kuruk died in the spirit world while fighting koh or trying to grt to koh
No, he died by fighting dark spirits
@@bluebird7488 yeah, but 9 months ago, when I posted this I hadnt read the book where they reveal it as it hadnt come out yet.
PREACH.
Kuruk isn’t the worst he was prob the best, he fought off dark spirits that’s how he died early, the reason people like Yangchen so much is bcz of kuruk bcz he was focused on keeping her title clean

Kuruk is a great avatar, read shadow of kyoshi and korra is better avatar than aang, although i love aang, the fact is korra is better avatar
I would be down for 10episodes or even animated shorts of avatars we don’t know about
To anyone who finds this, Kuruk was cursed by a powerful spirit, the curse not only effected his soul but it cursed the Avatar Soul, which explains a lot of the Avatars past Kuruk suffered great misfortune
Teen Kyoshi: “Am I gay or is Kuruk pervert?”

@@ogolow570 You hit the nail.
