I didn't mention in the stream, but the star doesn'T exactly "make you loose 8 HP every couple of seconds". That is why I had asked you if you tried boosting your HP with badges. The amount of damage scales with your max HP, which means if you have more HP, it does more damage. I haven't ever tested exactly the mechanic to know how much % of your HP it does or if there is a sweet spot that with rounding lets you live 1 extra damage cycle :P

interestingly the normal, usually ideal way to deal w/Unstable star is to use Recoil Throw+high heal items, as Recoil Throw defeats it in less turns than hammer throw, but you'd deff need at least several life shrooms+Jelly Ultras/other high heal items. I can deff confirm if you're fast enough w/the Recoil throw+Partner "Do nothing"+healing menuing, you'll be able to preserve your life shrooms. ie only Mario should be attacking if doing the normal recoil throw strat, as I found switching partners legit wastes time, as there's a reason Bombette is forced to trigger the unstable star fight. the fight actually tricks you into wasting time swapping partners and Goombario's tattle for the unstable star's the funniest one in the game, but its very nice to see that if the menuing's fast enough Buzzatrice works 🤲 next to Dark Mario, unstable star's prob one of the more unique bosses in DSE, w/it being a actual real-time battle. needing fast menuing really makes it stand out from most of the other unique stuff in this romhack. I really like it. as for Master 4, Berserker Mario w/all life shrooms basically the free win cheese strat, as you just need to hope Berserker mario chooses Jump over Hammer more often. yet its very satisfying fighting and beating the master 4 normally.
neat thing that helps in unstable star is that dying due to failing a hustle spell and reviving with a life shroom actually gives you 2 extra turns instead of 1 i have no idea why this happens but if i had to guess its probably a vanilla thing as dying on mario's turn with a fire pop actually gives your partner an extra turn it is a pretty funny way to finish off some bosses lol also i could not for the life of me find the last chance badge i still have no idea where it is 😭
I wonder if it's possible to change the flower graphic for every instance of FP damage, since the HP damage-over-time graphic looked like a decaying heart, and all that.
500 hp in the final fight (marked by a dry bones by him) 4 defense and attack that does 5 damage 3 times (has 1000 hp with curse badges) probably does more damage with them too. The other one don't stand a chance against him.
