Thrilled she mentioned the use of classics because I follow one writer who landed representation by saying “my book is basically Jane Eyre in space.” This time, when I start querying again, I’m going to focus heavily on the comp titles as I’ve recently learned of their importance. Have you read any of Lisa Jewell’s books? They’re very good and most of them involve strange families. She has an extensive backlist, but puts out a new one just about every year. I read And Then She was Gone and after that I had to read the entire backlist plus everything new she writes.
