Thank you sir for excellent explanation on pnueomonia cases. My father is in AIIMS ICU . Therefore I want to know such type of complications. First his treatment started in ward ,then bypass ventilator after 7 days, after 5 Days ventilator used. After 8 days now admitted to ICU. Progress is going on as per Doctors. Thanks once again Sir for clear vision.

Please thevtreatment for pneumonia, u said 5days for doxycycline during the outpatient treatment but later on u said 7- 14days for levofloxacin or doxycyclin during hospitalize patient. My question is that is it 5days for levofloxacin and doxycycline for out patient and 7- 14 days for inpatient. Also, u said we need to put patient on emperic treat till result for EIA or culture is out which takes about two weeks or more, are we going to continue treat ing the patient with antibiotics regardless of duration till result is out or are we to use the 7-14days duration in inpatient

Yes hospital treatment is longer than outpatient since it's more severe, otherwise we would not put the patient in the hospital.
We give empiric treatment while we wait for the results, but we don't need to give antibiotics for 2 weeks if not necessary, only if the treatment does not work do we need to switch treatment according to the culture that we obtained in the beginning.

Mrsa is a biggest crisis in USA only vanco, linezolid, Dayton covers it ... even vanco mic should be less than 2.zithro and unasyn does not cover mrsa.

Good explanation but you change your recommendation frequently e,g once you add azithromycin to MRSA treatment and sometimes you do not so it seems that you are not very confident of your knowledge...Yet many thanks

Hello thanks for your feedback. Azithromycin can be included in MRSA treatment but usually Vancomycin is the preferred one. First I told that Azithromycin should be given for patients with no risk factors of pseudomonas and MRSA. Then 2 minutes later I realized that its also possible to give Azithromycin to patients with risk factors for MRSA , so I corrected my mistake while presenting. Remember that I'm not reading a script, which means that sometimes as all human beings I forget some details, which I usually then correct when I recognize them.
I love all the comments from people like you, because you find these small details that I then can correct. The main purpose of these videos is to educate as many people as possible with easy to understand explanations of very complex topics. With the help of you guys, I know that this channel will be amazing.
So in conclusion: Azithromycin can be given to both patients with no risk factors and also to those with risk factors of MRSA.
