Hey Linus here I've been watching you for a while now and watched every video of yours about the Wilson Steam. You often talked about how the Wilson Steam is not available on the retail market these days. But I am a Tennisnerd myself and know a lot about the current Wilson racket lineups and I gotta tell you that the mold of the Wilson Steam 100 has actually been available for many years in the past and still is today. The mold of the Steam 100 has been selling under the name Wilson Blade 101L for all of the Blade versions. I discovered this myself, have used the Blade 101L v6 for many years and still have it laying around
I'm currently playing with a Steam 99 27'25 with 333g and 330sw, strung with luxilon alupower 1.25 X Wilson NXT Power 1.30 and a Fairway leather grip. Amazing frame!
I have the 100, 99LS, and 105S. While the Pro Stock versions are comfortable, the retail versions of these frames had reputations as wrist and forearm killers and as a result, consumer sales of these racquets never took off. When they don't sell, and they don't have a top 10 player repping them on tour, then you can't turn a profit on the retail lines. So in the end it's economics.
There's a Wilson racket called the Pro Staff "Precision" 100 sold. 100, 305 grams, 23mm beam, BLX, and foam filled. Could be an old Steam mold? It's a fantastic racket. Sold at Dick's here in the US and in Europe. $109 US dollars. I think they painted up an old mold.
@tennisnerd if I wanted to try the 99 inch model would you try to find a pro stock model or just buy the Nordic dots racquet you reviewed? Or eBay hunt?
Used to have the 104 sq. in. version which came with an outrageous 16x15 string pattern. That was a string-eating machine. I think I resorted to putting kevlar in the mains and 4G Soft 15 gauge in order to not break the strings.
A lot of the WTA pros use the BLX Steam line right? And some still use the nCode line? Does anyone use a *regular, off the shelf* Blade v9, how Alcaraz uses a PureAero98.
i just bought the Prostaff 95S, never used apparently, I'm liking it so far but I need to fine tune the sting settings - currently running Solinco Confidential at 41lbs.
Yes, this style of racquet is definitely a hole in their line. I thought that the RF 01 line was their attempt to address that. But I think that the could use something that is more of a true power/control hybrid that tilts more toward power rather than more toward control. Head has the Speed line, Babolat has the Pure Strikes and Pure Drive 98, Yonex has some of the VCore and Ezones but Wilson really doesn’t offer anything in this class except maybe RF 01 line and the Pro Staff X. But even those hybrids are more control first and power second. Also would like to see this kind of frame offered in 97 and 98.
Seems There is the Euro ver Steam 100 and Japan ver Steam 100 which has the Ultra Tour specs the only way I can tell them apart is the throat to the handle is different. Please confirm
This is hillarious, I have been searching all over recently for a Steam 100! Such a good stick!!! I have it with grip size 3, graphite molded handle (have 2 each pro stock blade v6, and 2015 paint job) and I need a size 1!
You can find Steam racquets for sale on the Japanese resale markets. They continued to sell them their long after they abandoned selling them in the USA and Europe.
@@geoffchriste1703 not sure how to shop Japanese resale markets in the US. I see a bunch of Steam on eBay from Japanese sellers, but I see the same racket with same imperfections from multiple sellers. Has me thinking they are scammers.
Caught a glimpse of the green on black paint scheme and thought “There’s no way that’s not a Blade Pro/Tour model” 😅 Speaking of black and green, what model/line would you like to see Prince bring back?
Personally Wilson should bring back the pro staff ncode with kfactor pj. Because if you watch Federer play during the era he played the kfactor pj, it was a very special period. Bar none, nobody painted lines better.
I’ve got a customer of mine that I string her racquets and she uses the steam 99LS… she will not get rid of her frames under any circumstances… way crazy

Very true, although the blade 101L’s length is 27 in. instead of Steam‘s 27.25

Let’s be real here, it’s the company that decides what racquet a player is endorsing, not the player themselves…

Little birdie told me it's coming back as the Wilson Ultra Pro 100 soon.
@@brunis_m yep!
When might this be?
@Mewborne89 a pro player friend of mine was testing it for last two months. Probably until April 2025 this stick will be available.
Oh no, with the v4 color way? Shut up and take my money
get out, for real?
I just ordered a pro stock Steam 100 in the Blade V9 shiny pj. Can’t wait to try it out!
Bia Haddad Maia uses a Steam too, with blade v9 cosmetics.

Maybe some 150 and below pros but the top 10 not.
Yes they need to bring the Wilson steam esp the blx 100
wilson need to reput on the market the entire blx line kek

So is it safe to say, buying the Wilson Blade Tour V8 would be just as good? Since its the same mold.
Steam 96 was probably the best ,even retail version, with some weight added can turn into s pro stock
Is the Juice BLX an early version of the Steam ? I’ve had an eye on the pro version recently, lots of them for really cheap 2nd hand.

I have a steam blx 100, but i don't feel anything special with it. feels like blade 101L
it seems they changed the main middle grommet color on the v9 paint job, can't tell know if it's blade 100 pro or steam 100
Ok, but how is it compared to the latest Shift line?

you could change the grip pallet

Textreme extended got removed
Prince graphite II 97 22mm straight beam 14x18
I think that the blade team v8 is the steam 99s mold

Do thy still make the Wilson Juice?
The steams used to crack!
love the 80RA racquets, the stiffness myths are still strong I see
isnt that the blade 7? im confused
Just a cosmetic, this is what they do for pro player racquets
The steam racquets come in a Blade paint job as they’re made for professional players.
Just re-release it as a Pro Labs offering - no need to add models or make it fit into any current frame silos.
Vänta här nu! Spelade ni i Munka Ljungby? 👌
Jajamensan! Nice banor :)
I have the Steam 99s. Like the spin and power, but with the stiffnes of 69 it is too stiff for me
Doesn’t Petra Kvitova use a Steam 96 painted as a Pro Staff?
She use nTour 95. Same mold as Nishikori and Qinwen Zhang
did you try the 16x15 pattern?
Yea, Henrik did
Good racquet but a voracious string eater. A good many retail customers won't be able to afford to feed it.
May I ask why it’s a “string eater”?
I'd still be hitting with the 99S if it wasn't too stiff for my elbow. The spin never failed to surprise me, and decent control.
Steam sounds like a strip club lol Yeah its a pretty cool racquet I think a few ladies on the WTA tour use it as well.
Jonas, 'Steam' doesn't sound like a strip club. At all. Something on your mind?
