Thank you so much. Since returning to dance, I've been stuck in my progress with a creativity block. Your videos are so beneficial. I am filled with gratitude that you so willingly share your knowledge. Your generosity is appreciated more than I can express. 💕🌺🌸🌹🌷🌻🌼☺
Thank you for this great explanation of counting and the demonstration! The concept of counting finally clicked in my mind! Love this 32-count combination :)
I absolutely love your teaching methods and combinations! I'm so happy I found your channel tonight I am performing with my dance troupe and in part of my choreography I use one of your Veil combinations that I find absolutely gorgeous! I will share the link to the video once it's posted. Thank you for everything you do you're amazing!
Oh gosh, thank you so much Mary!! That’s the most wonderful comment I could have read and it makes me so happy to know that not only are you enjoying my teaching, but that you’re using it too! Yes, please do share the video - I’d love to see it ❤️
Absolutely love this choreography and using it for different songs! One question, the song that plays at 06:00, I think the song is called la la by Omda, what style of arabic music would this be classed as? (forgive me I'm still learning!) the most similar thing I find to it is saidi, would it be classed as saidi? I want to find similar songs as I love the energy of these styles of songs and dancing to them. Thank you for your amazing videos!
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! You're absolutely right about the name and singer. In fact it's not saidi but I know exactly why you thought that! It would probably be classed as sha'abi (a style of music of the popular people, often classified as street music) or as pop. But the rhe reason you think it might be saidi is that a LOT of pop songs use the saidi beat, because it's nice and heavy. So it can be very confusing... The way you can tell if it's saidi is if you hear the sound of the mizmar (that weird, slightly screechy instrument that sounds like a strangled cat - sorry I'm speaking as a great cat lover so I mean no offence to cats anywhere!) I hope that helps xx
@@CharlotteDesorgher Ah thank you so much for this thorough explanation, that makes so much sense! I look forward to listening to more music and learning more. I love the description of the mizmar from a fellow cat lover haha! Thank you as always for sharing your knowledge and for the positive energy xo
Your teaching skills are amazing, I'm so glad I've found this channel!!! Thank you. One question: can any move be executed on any rhythm (baladi, maksum ecc) the same way as a choreography can be danced to any song then? Or would they have to slightly adapt to the rhythm and therefore change? Hope that makes sense, it might be just me overthinking it.
Hi Mathilde, great question! Pretty much any move can be executed to maksum, saidi and beledi, because they are simple 4/4 rhythms. The maksum is the most common one used in traditional Egyptian style bellydance and the saidi rhythm is used a lot in pop songs. Beledi (also known as masmoudi seghir) is quite common too and tends to be fairly interchangeable with maksum. You can indeed adapt moves to pretty much any rhythm, but some will work better than others. And there are also certain rhythms that are associated with specific dance styles, such as Khaleeji, or indeed Saidi (more on that below) Now, the saidi rhythm is used in pop as I said, but if you hear the saidi rhythm accompanied by the sound of a mizmar (a screechy oboe-type instrument) then you need to dance specific saidi moves and maybe dance with a stick too. I hope that helps! Oh and thank you so much for your kind words about my teaching! xxx
