    TTU Tangara Technology Upgrade T106 Sydney Transfer
    Tangara T106 has been at UGL in Broadmeadow for a couple of months now.
    It was there to undergo measurements and a few other things in preparation for the major technology upgrade.
    In this Vlog we see T106 on it's transfer to UGL Auburn to undergo the TTU (Tangara Technology Upgrade).
    Im unsure as to what this upgrade includes however i heard it's receiving CCTV and Internal screens much like the Waratahs.
    There is a LOT more being done to the Tangara Fleet for this upgrade however I'm not sure what it is exactly.
    I do know that T106 will look a lot different on the inside.
    Im hoping T106 gets a new livery.
    Even something simple like the Waratahs.
    Once the upgrade is complete with T106 the other 110 Tangara's will receive the same treatment.

      Arclamp When you think about it, they haven’t aged very badly. You could easily mistake it for any other newer train at this point despite actually being in service for around 30 years. Even back when the T sets were still new to service, they were already a huge jump in appearance and technology compared to what came before it.

    Things I hope the Tangaras will have: Reversible seats (even though 106 already has them) Working outside display boards, and removal of the old push buttons on the G sets, and "Maybe" they could remove the slanted bottom part on the G sets, so all the Tangaras will be the same. (And slowly re number them from 1-111.

      Tanki Divide I don’t think the inner dip on the front of (former) G set Tangaras is that big of a difference anyway. It’s only something you’ll notice if you look up close.

    I heard this upgrade is taking longer than first thought. I’m sure the most likely changes to come out of this project are the installation of CCTV cameras, digital destination boards, internal PIDS boards and auto announcements like the Oscars, Millenniums and Waratahs currently use. New gangways seem to be less noisy (if what T65 is showing now) though I hope they don’t change too much on the outside, and changing the door opening/closing jingles would come off a little jarring to longtime enthusiasts because of the current sound effects having been used since the beginning. I think the changes won’t affect the exterior too much (considering the iconic image) but the inside will likely almost look entirely different. Just my two cents here.

    It's been ten months ago now since T106 went in to get its upgrade and hasn't been seen yet. Must be more work then originally thought or just taking a lot longer then originally thought. Maybe it's going to look nothing like a Tangara when it comes out from its TTU at its slightest. Can't wait though when it is ready. I'm guessing it will be more like a "Waragara" or "Tangatah".

    • @nicholetheotter1957
      @nicholetheotter1957 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      V666 From Hell It is definitely taking longer, now being three years since this footage was filmed. Must be putting a lot of effort into this project in order to ensure the longevity of this fleet. Probably going to be more changes to the interior, with the exterior likely getting more minor updates. Howard Collins (Sydney Trains CEO) did say he wanted to bring the Tangara up to the same standard as stuff like the Waratahs and Oscars.

      They're having trouble installing the upgrades as each Tangara is actually slightly different, so they've gone back to the design stage to make changes.

      Sunny Yan Funny, because I actually saw T106 and T72 when I passed the UGL site at Auburn. I managed to get photos of them, and they had a “Train under test” sign on the doors, so that must be a sign they’ve had their new features installed and they’re testing them before going back into regular service.

    Are the doors the new upgrade?

    • @MatthewGeier
      @MatthewGeier 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope - many Tangara's are getting about with these new doors. They are part of a separate program to replace the doors with ones that don't have panels that can be kicked out. The new doors are apparently lighter too.

    • @nicholetheotter1957
      @nicholetheotter1957 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sen Imseang The doors are not entirely related to this upgrade. They were installed so that the Tangara fleet can have doors that are more lightweight and no longer have steel panels that can get kicked out. There was a massive case of vandals kicking the steel panels, and the original doors were difficult to repair, so fitting a new style of door without the panels would help fix the problem. The upgrades T106 is going through are more for technology purposes.

Just wait for them and then other T sets will then head there for their own upgrades. I actually did get photos of them when I passed the site.
