How the f is he your dad? Like in any way? You don’t know him and have never met him. This association people have with feeling like entertainers are close to them is actually a mental illness. No wonder your dad left. Lol

Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death.
While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the war, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes.
Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way.
It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......

Every single time I see a guest I'm not familiar with on this show I am SO glad that I clicked on the video. I can relate to Drew in so many ways after a life changing disability I've been dealing with for the past 16 years, totally different struggles compared to his but such similar internal feelings and attitudes due to the struggle of overcoming. This was really inspiring, thank you both for this💗
*that part about the dunk tank clowns was fucking hilarious btw🤣🤣

Half way through, but I feel the need to comment. I hardly comment on TH-cam at all, but I feel compelled to do so here. I can totally relate to this mans experience. I'm in my late 20s and was born with a motor disability (cerebral palsy), totally different set of circumstances, but man this is resonating with me so strongly.
After 20+ years of blaming myself and feeling ashamed, I've recently found acceptance for my disability. What Drew said about being a service to others hit me hard. That's where I feel I am now in my journey. After years of struggling to find myself and only seeing my disability, I now see myself as an educator and an advocate for those with disabilities. I'm making it my life's work.
Thanks Ryan. You may not see this, but this podcast has helped me so, so much. I really needed to hear Drews experience, its cathartic to know the emotions I've gone through are so similar to someone else's. In tears right now.

I'd really love to hear a 2nd visit on the honeydew with Drew now that he is not so nervous being on and has a better feel for Sickler. The difference in his voice from 15:20 to 1:01:00 is crazy. You can see the calmness set in and his voice deepen as he gets more comfortable. Great story and an awesome comic as well!

Ryan I really hope you see this to let you know how much I appreciate your podcast. There have been other episodes that have been some of the hardest I've laughed i.e. Harland Williams and some that have helped me heal but this one is so resonating with me. I'm 33 now but i went thru the same thing at 12 years old. Got pushed out of a 15 foot tree house onto the metal circle siding of the trampoline. Instant whiplash got the wind knocked out of me some cte im sure and had to go thru 2 years of speech class with only 3 other people who had speech impediments. Pretty much what Drew said about the training and how to form smooth structured sentences is what we did plus we had unique boards games tailored to help practice. Love your show.

Growing up I was super athletic, at 23 I joined the Marine Corps for the physical and mental challenge and until the age of 47 I played indoor soccer 4 days a week and worked a very physical job.
Then at 47 I started dragging my left foot like a wounded fucking dog until it got to the point I would fall down when walking. I refused to
believe something was wrong. After much testing I was diagnosed with a tumor in my spine which is very rare. The neurosurgeon said 6 weeks I’d be back to work, 31 days later I was released from the ICU and transported to a rehab facility as a quadriplegic all because of a fuck up by the surgeon.
I’m very open about my mental health and depression. I’m also very open about suicide with my family and while they don’t agree with it they understand. It’s been 2 years now with very little progress. The injury is extremely painful and quality of life is shit.
But you Ryan get me out of my head. Even if it’s only for an hour a week, I can focus on something other then shit situation known as life. Thank You so much for having Drew on, he sparked some hope. From thinking “what the fuck” when I first saw him on AGT, to absolutely loving him by the end it’s so great to see his progress.
Something changes in you emotionally when go through a traumatic injury. It was great to see that Drew trusted you enough to go there.
    Peace

I'm glad Sickler had Drew on. If you haven't seen the king's speech you should definitely check it out. I've had a small stutter growing up and I can attest that cussing definitely was such a release!
