Btw, Kylie had just come out w Loco Motion '88, not into pop, travelling in Ireland during my gap year, all of 5 even & 85lbs w an overbite & poodle cut. A group of schoolboys insisted that I was her and begged for an autograph lol, but I didn't even know who she was! I was a fan of The Smiths and The Violent Femmes at the time.
I’m 72 years old and grew up with music from the late fifties, the sixties, seventies and mostly listening to that music now but like some music from a lot of different artists. This is the second song I’ve heard from these guys. Who the hell are they, where do they come from. I will buy their CDs. WOW
They are German and most of their songs are German, but they are still great. Just wouldn’t recommend you their album „12“ because it’s … well the vibe is pretty dark. They made this album in 2020 with social distancing (recorded themselves mostly alone at home and put it all together in the end). And well the songs are about the anxiety and sorrows we all had in 2020 due to Covid.

The drummer does use a full set in concert and some videos. Henning May's voice is really special. The arrangements are so cool whether it's just the 3 of them, or a almost full orgastra.
I'm kind of obsessed with AMK's version of Toxic. I find it extremely interesting to listen to when I was never a huge fan of that original song. This one you're listening to is fantastic and so complex. Love it.
He uses his full drum set most of the times. I would recommend looking at any of the recent releases they have made with the "Probaum Session" they are playing with violins and trombones and sax and trumpet and cello as well as their regular guitar bass guitar set up. I love their Probaum Session "Ausgehen" and "Vielleicht Vielleicht"

AnnenMayKatntereit is a german band (that started as a school project if I am not mistaken) based in cologne, germany and the Band name is simply their surnames put together.

Bob, You remind me of my Band teacher. He was such a huge factor in my musical life. I appreciate your videos and how in sync we are on the reactions you give. You've actually lit a fire under this old gal to pick up her instruments (sax, flute, clarinet) and try to locate a place to gather with like-minded musicians. I got a 3/4 Fender Acoustic a few years back and wanted to learn how to play, but ended up having hand surgery on both hands for CTS and that kind of put that off. But, thinking I might hit up the local Community College for beginner acoustic lessons and see what happens. Thank you for your insight and just keep living! You rock! 🫶

When you do some to theire origins should translate the texts cause the meaning alqays correlates with the vibe. I love this kind of music, feels real. My son said hey dad I heard this song on TikTok you should do this one. Well his birthday was about a month away so I did the video for his birthday. It was out for a week then got blocked there was no way to unblock it. A month later it was unblocked and blew up and here we are. So glad it got unblocked.
I was watching and listening to videos by The Animals after the mention of House of the Rising Sun mention. There are so many songs by them that he could do, and I think it would sound amazing. He can add such an amazing sound to some other artists like Jim Morrisons music.

I think it was 2012 when I visited Cologne, my wife actually wanted to go shopping, but we met AnnenMayKantereit on a street corner. We stood there for 1 hour and were flashed, the band were street musicians at the time.
Can't forget one comment on a video saying something like the vocalist looks like 16 year old with a 50 year old voice and dances like an 80-year grandma. But just amazing! Happy to discover them.
I'm actually going to get professional vocal training after this and finally find some help in reading music. I've played by ear my whole life and I'm 47, guitar and piano, gimme a year. Thanks for the inspiration guys

Drummer comment - not playing on full set. I’ve seen henning twice now with only guitar player and drummer sitting on a chair playing a beat on a wooden box..no drums. One time there was a huge university class room going on.. all 3 stand up and just start sing in the middle of class. Way big hit. The other time they were outside of a dive bar at the door entrance on the sidewalk and just start belting out. Every time they sounded like a full band. Henning was younger but still that full rich voice.
High production values, expert mixing but always HIS voice??? A little bit Joe Cocker, Tom Waits and Sting and and and and and... A very unique and pure vocal!
I don’t know if he is actually straining. It sounds that way but it might not be. I contacted them to see if we could talk and I will sure ask that question.

There is something about the hertz quality of henningmays voice ...I listened to some other gravelly voices on tvp polish war videos and the experience was exactly opposite . .I felt degradedand sour ......but with this voice there is healing ....it would be interesting to find the hrtz value

I think it was 2012 when I visited Cologne, my wife actually wanted to go shopping, but we met AnnenMayKantereit on a street corner. We stood there for 1 hour and were flashed, the band were street musicians at the time.

I'm actually going to get professional vocal training after this and finally find some help in reading music. I've played by ear my whole life and I'm 47, guitar and piano, gimme a year. Thanks for the inspiration guys

Drummer comment - not playing on full set. I’ve seen henning twice now with only guitar player and drummer sitting on a chair playing a beat on a wooden box..no drums. One time there was a huge university class room going on.. all 3 stand up and just start sing in the middle of class. Way big hit. The other time they were outside of a dive bar at the door entrance on the sidewalk and just start belting out. Every time they sounded like a full band. Henning was younger but still that full rich voice.

I don’t know if he is actually straining. It sounds that way but it might not be. I contacted them to see if we could talk and I will sure ask that question.

There is something about the hertz quality of henningmays voice ...I listened to some other gravelly voices on tvp polish war videos and the experience was exactly opposite . .I felt degradedand sour ......but with this voice there is healing ....it would be interesting to find the hrtz value
