A well done video, all good advice. After 60 wonderful years as a slot car person, scratch builder, racer and collector, I can say this. In my opinion, the best way to learn is to find a club or even a group of like minded folk, like at a hobby shop. Slot car people are are open and will share. Most of all, have fun, it's a great hobby and I have made many life long friends because of my participation.
I bought one of the Carrera Go F1 sets last year and have bought a few more sets and cars over this year. The Carrera Go sets are alot more fun when you make larger faster layouts with the bigger curves and banked curve pieces. Then you can drive the cars harder than the basic box layouts which dont let you get much speed.
Very well done. Concise and clear. My favorite pastime as a boy was playing with my Strombecker Parnelli Jones set. Lotus vs Chaparral. Cheers from California.
Great vid! This was fun to watch - and informative. I don't know why... .but over the last 2 or 3 weeks.... I have developed a "wild hair," or possibly even a mini-obsession with Slot Cars and Slot Car racing sets! I had a small AFX H-O set when I was a kid - like many of us did. Loved it. But it's been 35 or 40 years now! And all of a sudden... I've got to get back into the Slot-Car thing. LOL Been on vacay for the last 5 or 6 days. Got home last night. Went out today, and bought a killer little Carerra Evolution set. 1/32. The Super-Cars set. And picked up 3 additional cars! 2 of them were basically clearance items. $25 bucks a piece! Man I can't wait to get back into it. I'm starting Analog... but will likely convert to Digital after a little time. Or I may just do both!
I really only learned some from the video. I have been considering getting into slot car racing and perhaps even compete. I know that the 1:32 scale size is the most common scale used in the sport. I also know I would like to go digital as it makes for a better racing experience for a bunch of reasons, and you can run digital cars on an analog track, just not the other way around. I understand if I go with a Correra set, not only do you have the option of also running a larger scale car as well, my understanding is that the Cotrera tracks are firmer, lay flatter and are slightly textured for better tire grip versus Scalextric. So, the actual questions I have are: What do you think is better, Carrera or Scalextric and why? I also would love to know what is the best most basic digital kit to get me into the hobby? My thought is I can start very basic to keep the initial cost down, and, of course, over time, I would expand and upgrade the set.
Massive thanks to Metro Hobbies for all the goodies and consistently great service. Not only do we have an awesome Carrera digital slot car layout, but we now suddenly have one of the fastest growing and most regularly watched new slot car channels on TH-cam, attracting subscribers from all around the world. Would love to interview you guys at some point. Thanks again!!! 😎🏁
I have an SCX original analog track with analog pit box with connected tower. Will Carrera cars work with my pit box? I have tried FLY and Ninco and they don't trigger the pit box. So far only SCX cars trigger it.
Hi Alex, Thanks for reaching out. It is possible to do. Carrera have a digital back box that allows you to convert your 1/43 scale analog track to digital. You then need to purchase 1/43 Digital cars that will run on the track. Sadly at the moment this is not something that is in stock and it appears to be out of stock with Carrera directly.
Hi Scooter825, good question and one I am not 100% sure about. Really without trying it is hard to say for sure. Usually we encourage our customers to stick to the same brand as without modification they aren't always comptible.
New to this....I wanna make the cars slide or jump ...I remember some slotcars can do this. Can this set do that? What should I look for if I want that. Can you put guardrails so the cars won't fly off the track?
Love the easy off yellow can only I spray my car bodies in plastic a zip lock bag,and zip it up no smell alot less spray smell...it is a strong smell.....but it works ...try it in a bag 😊 enjoy love your videos
I guess this is okay information for 1/32 or maybe 1/43 scale...but doesn't mention other companies or HO scale which is still widely marketed. I guess that's another video

One of the most diverse hobbies you can have! From painting, track building, photography, videography and racing 🎉 Nice video
Good introduction to slot cars.
For a kid carrera go is the right choice. I bought the Super Mario set. It’s amazing.
Taking my boy to the hobby shop tomorrow to check out track set to buy. Thanks for the information

Congrats on your new set 👏

You forgot the smaller scales.
No mention of PoliCar track or cars. My first ever Slot Car Track / set up was PolyCar. And I love it.
PolyCar works with Ninco track too with adapter

Thete are so many Producer around nowadays for tracks, cars, controller,.... but A LOT IF FUN!!!!!!
I prefer Carrera, recent cars seem to be much higher quality as far as details and moudls go.
100% mate, all the small details like how Carerra has working brake lights when you’re off the throttle.
How fast you running that delorian

Good video
How can I transform my Carrera Go into a digital one? Can you show me how to do it?

@@MetroHobbiesAus Ok . It's sad that Carrera discontinued this line. Do you know if there is a digital model in 1:64 or 1:43 scale?
Want that knight rider bttf set. Is there a way to make the cars drift or jump? Kitt was always a jumper and skidder
Take the magnets out and add some lead weight if you want to be able to drift the back end.
Will my old tycos run on a 43?

Scalextric do a jump, send it as hard as you can and see how far you can jump! Barriers and borders are available for both brands.
What about HO?

Aren't there any slotless manufacturers nowadays? BITD I had TCR, amazing you could change lanes.
Yes but slot cars are still the main racing type of model racing. Pure and simple fun
👏👏👏🏁🏁🏁🏁
*SCALE-EX-TRIC
Up in da club, I am building a track in the VIP section called Sluts and Slots. Its going to be the Ho scale!
Basically you need AFX! FASTEST best performance. These are geriatric slow!
You look exactly like 🌽 ⭐️ Jordi “El Niño” Polla 😂
Please say ’raises the question’ instead of ‘begs the question’ (8:35). Let’s reserve it for the named fallacy.
I am a professional slot-racer. I think many of what you have said is wrong.
