    Guga, probably the nicest player-champ ever. Modest, classy and always smiling. And a great talent on top.
    Funny to notice here how much Federer has improved in the meantime, specifically in the way he moves on the court. I think this must have been the only match in which I saw Federer slide and almost crash. I started to think he was born with the perfect sense of balance :-) Talent is nothing without a lot of hard work in other words.

      I believe in competition that happens on the court so unfortunately it will always be a mystery regarding Rafa but Guga took down Federer at The French in a year when Fed won the 3 other majors and a lot of people may not know this but this was AFTER he returned from his hip injury. He had an effortless game and he could make great players look ordinary at times. I saw a match on hard court where he dismantled Patrick Rafter who was also a great player. Sadly we didn't get to see all of what Guga could be but please believe me as a lifelong fan of tennis going back to Connors/Borg/Mac up to the present this man Guga was an elite special player.

      De jeito nenhum. Eu vi a carreira inteira do Guga. Jogo a jogo.

    Federer just had his breakthrough moment in 2003 and was beginning to dominate, but yet Kuerton on this surface was able to make him look ordinary. To me fed maybe lacked tactical experience on clay, but his shots kind of sat up on clay rather than kuerton’s whose shots went through the court. Well played Kuerton.

      I tried to tell people Fed played indoors on carpet and clay growing up...there was no grass and hards for him...so clay being his worst surface is bullcrap....
      Fed is simply not a grinder...he has a. pretty game. but he can get dirty if needed...
      but it's clay excuse is so unbecoming of the Supposed GOAT...that's why he is not the best and he himself knows it....it has to kill Federer inside..

I've always been a Federer fan since he beat Schalke in a Davis Cup match (played so easily). • @eltonalonsopompeu615
    @eltonalonsopompeu615 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The result of a Nadal x Guga match would depend very much of Nadal's tactics.
    If Nadal plays with high topspin and without angle, Guga would feast with those balls because of his ability to hit winners from everywhere with both his forehand and (especially) his backhand. His backhand would be a major problem for Rafa because, unlike many one-handed backhand players, Guga was not affected by high balls because of his extreme grip.
    But if Nadal starts to create angles, especially against Guga's forehand, Rafa takes it. Guga was vulnerable to two kinds of players: serve-and-volley players (because of his tendency to return serves from way behind the baseline, what allowed the net rushers tons of time), and players who negated his power and explored his very average court coverage with angled shots (and this is something that Nadal can absolutely do).
    It would be great to see anyway.
