Nice Video! For your water tank vent line you could install another small faucet at the sink (without a valve) and hook it up to that instead of the drain. That would remove the possible backflow issue, provide a vent, and overflow.
@@CruisingMeraki on a normal sink, yes. It vents away stinky gas and prevents a p-trap from siphoning dry. I'm not sure if your galley sink is plummed like that

Our galley sink drains straight out. My understanding of the ptrap in a house is so the stinky smell doesn’t come back up through the drain.
