First thing that came to my mind was increased resistance in the circuit which may have been caused by the problems you see at the fuel pump. I don't recommend bypassing the relay as you have done because you could fry the wiring and not just the relay.
my voltage regulator is bad and that was causing it to burn my fuel pump relay..the fuel pump still works but the start button just makes the starter solenoid to just click causing the no spark to my plugs..but so far so good..thanks for the input that helped me a bunch...ill keep in touch with you

yes... try ur fuel pump relay and you mite need a voltage regulator...cause if your fuel pump relay goes bad your fuel pump still mite work but when you hit the start button it jus clicks..and if this is the case your voltage regulator is going bad..i hope im not to late answering you back dont give up..i know i didnt and i have been messing with this bike for over 2 year..keep in touch and let me know whats goin on...hope i can help

I All I need your help i have a 1990 starcraft motor home which has a 12 volt relay to run the fuel pump. When driving along the pump is fine but when we stop the engine stops. No pump running. When i test the relay we have powder always to one side but nothing coming out. When left for 1/2 hour the pump runs fine again, We have just re tuned from Holiday doing some 250 miles ok. When we stopped at home the engine cut out. The pump was new 2 years ago, but we have had treble with a fuel filler which was blocked. the pump was running like this for 1500 miles could this be the problem?.

Did you ever figure out the issue? i am facing similar problems with my 1996 yzf600r...My starter solenoid is just clicking...i thinking i blew the fuel pump relay once but replaced it and can hear the fuel pump priming but still just a constant clicking on the starter solenoid / relay ....Any help would be appreciated..Thanks
hi! by any chance were you able to fix your problem? im having the same issue, the starter keeps clicking. I was thinking that i needed to buy a new starter... am i right?

Whennyou rev the bike its purduceing to much voltage burning up the relay or wrong. Regulator

Your voltage regulator rectifyer is not working corectly replace it
