Many thanks for this. We are preparing a short YT video about a VAD named on a 'served and died' memorial in our collection and this has proved most helpful.
I have to find a scholarly video to watch and then critique for one of my history classes and since we haven't discussed ww1 in this class yet, though we just discussed the suffrage movement along with the early wave of feminism today during class, that this was the perfect video.
Sue - absolutely inspiring - I'm discovering more VAD's of 1st Northern as I re-open my research in light of approach by the University Library, in preparation for their 'celebrations' of WW1 over the coming years. Will keep you informed, already have one I cannot find anything out about [without spending money]. Fee
Many Aussies share your sentiments. One Aussie wrote a book about it in 2008 which has now become a mini-series being broadcast as "ANZAC Girls" next week. The Other Anzacs by Peter Rees Lest we forget.
In doing a lot of research on WW1 nurses, the speaker here, Sue Light, stands out as THE expert. Her website and blog are the most comprehensive sources of information I've found on the web. website: www.scarletfinders.co.uk/index.html Blog: greatwarnurses.blogspot.com/
