very nice of backyard samurai. Definitely a very fine gift. I had my 599 xt for over a year and treated it like baby much as possible. One of the best folding karambit next to cold steel tiger claw.
Well I totally agree that it is a very well suited defense knife, you will also find it to be very utilitarian. This knife was originally designed for utility purposes.
Using the the wave, I’d suggest twisting and pulling forward, rather than straight out. If I just want it out and closed to hit, I just pull it straight out and grip the whole handle so it stays close. If I want to immediately deploy the blade, I twist the ring towards what i’m aiming at and punch towards it. It’ll come flying out in extended grip ( mind your fingers! ) but you can let it fall back in grip and slash in the same motion.
From what I've seen people have said the 599 XT can get locked in the closed position. And others are worried that 599 liner lock will close on their fingers. Has anyone had any issues?
Nope it’s easy to adjust the pivot and the second lock never gave me an issue and I have pulled it out my pocket many times. I would say just put knife oil around the pivot and your good to go. This is a great utility knife or rescues knife. There is a video of a EMT worker using one the cut seatbelts and glass breaker and it worked great. The curved blade in a panic helps you cut anyone out of the car safely even if your hand is shaking it’s why I love karambits. The ring keeps it on your hand and the wave help you get it out quick to get anyone out safely. Great tool all around. And won’t need sharpening that curve edge lasts forever like serrated knife does!
Gary Johnson He went on and on how shiny it is without saying it comes in black, LOL. The Karahawk also opens better: smoother, quicker. I own both, but for a combat knife, I like the tiger claw the best.
i just bought the 599xt and im having issue closing the knife. im pressing as hard as i can on the spine to close it but it just wont close.. i can close it 1 out of 20 tries.
Hey! Quick question: I have short fat fingers (I know I know) but my hand is roughly 4 inches wide (knuckle to knuckle). Should I go for the 599 or 479? I’m 6’0 180 lbs btw
I don't know if this helps but when you look at the specs of the 599 when closed it has a handle length of 4.75 inches and that includes the ring and the 479 is a bit longer than that, I would personally recommend the 479 to you.

You had or have had? Did you sell it and if so, why?
