As much as I dislike Miquella after the DLC, gotta respect that he achieved that, even if it's despicable.
Radahn most likely agreed as a youth though. It’s pretty clear that he made a vow and a promise. Things only changed after the shattering when his mind was twisted by his great rune.
@@Halovex This is a rather long response and rant, but I'm compelled to be as thorough as possible even if some of it is a little repetitive. You've been given fair warning.
Your premise is that Radahn once agreed because that Miquella references a vow? Reliable old Miquella, know for acting in good faith and definitely not known for coercing, brainwashing, and enslaving his enemies and friends alike without discrimination?
If it wasn't clear, that was sarcasm. Miquella's words and claims don't make much sense for a reliable source. He brainwashes and manipulates, forcing his "truth" on others. Mohg, Thiollier, Leda, Ansbach, Hornsent, Moore - possibly even Leda and Malenia herself? It's definitely not a far stretch that Miquella tried charming Radahn either. Before thr DLC, he was implied to be sly and guile, but now? There's not much support to imply he doesn't rely on brainwashing first and anything civilized second. Most of Miquella's "truths" are tainted by the fact that he mentally enslaves almost everyone around him - free will is a lie when Miquella is involved.
I rant about this because you paint this like Miquella is the good guy and Radahn was afflicted with something to 'suddenly' resist. You imply that he was twisted by his Great Rune. None of the runes actually function like that. Least of all Radahn's. "The Great Rune burns, to resist the encroachment of the Scarlet Rot." Radahn's rune fortifies his health - body and mind - and helps him resist outside forces and diseases - like the Scarlet Rot. Such effects of simple empowerment would only impact Miquella's supposed vow and contract if it was coerced, enforced by charms - because all Radahn's Rune does is fortify him. It would only give hum the strength to break out of a charm.
Hells, Radahn doesn't have any motive to join Miquella. In fact, he even has motive to *not* join Miquella. For one, Radahn's inspirations and role models consisted primarily of Godfrey, Serosh, and Radagon. Now, it's loose whether he is a fan of Radagon personally, but he certainly acknowledges his father as a champion - and he definitely equates himself to Godfrey's companion Serosh: "I was born the cub of a champion. Now I am the Lord of the Battlefield's lion." Godfrey is the only one in Elden Ring's lore to hold that title of "Lord of the Battlefield."
So, given how he practically worships war, then in what circumstance would Radahn ever want to work with Miquella for a gentle age of compassion - an age where there is no battle, war, or conflict? Radahn is a kind leader, but his interests are not with peace. Hells, his love of martial prowess aside, Radahn also loved the land of Caelid dearly - if he was on-board, then why would he ever resist Malenia to the point that she nuked Caelid?
I think the final stone in the coffin is the actual boss fight against the Promised Consort. Radahn was hailed as a master of gravity magic, but he uses considerably less gravity as the Promised Consort than as the Starscourge. Hells, even the fact that the Promised Consort's armor is called as the "Young Lion" set implies that it's just Miquella's memories and impressions of Radahn overwriting who Radahn actually is. No bow, no Leonard, less gravity magic than what was used by true Radahn's dessicated husk... on his own, the Promised Consort is weaker than General Radahn prior to Malenia. The Promised Consort feels more like "Miquella's consort" than like "Radahn."
And if you need more evidence that Miquella very well could've jumped the gun and charmed Radahn before attempting anything civilized, consider how he treats the player. For a supposedly benevolent, compassionate, and gentle would-be god, there's no diplomacy whatsoever. No talking things out. Miquella is supposed to be the most diplomatic of the demi-gods, but the only words he speaks are to charm and enslave or to announce himself as a threat.
If the devs wanted to convey Miquella as that peace-promoting savant, they'd have allowed the option to talk with him - they did it before in Dark Souls and other titles. They've allowed us to talk with bosses before fighting them, or even to just peacefully walk pass them. FromSoft often explicitly forced to attack such bosses first, too - before they're willing to fight back. Maiden Astraea, The Ceaseless Discharge, Priscilla, Gwyndolin, Gravelord Nito, Aldia, King Vendrick, Gehrman, Gascoigne, Rom the Vacuous Spider, Sister Friede, and so forth. They could've made Miquella passive at first.
So, for Miquella, especially as a new god, there's genuinely no risk or danger to himself to simply attempt talking things out with the plaher. The only way to interpret this, since they _don't_ give any of the prior options or interactions with Miquella, is that he has never been willing to negotiate, compromise, or otherwise have civilized interactions with anyone outside his control - if Miquella can choose not to talk things out, then he'll shoot first. For a demi-god with such a massive reputation on talking things out, it's telling that he doesn't even try, that he's not an NPC we can simply talk with - that FromSoft could've made him passive, and chose not to.
Instead, Miquella used Mohg as a stepping stone to not just revive (and very likely enslave) his brother Radahn into an incestual consort, but he turned a warlord into his promotional image for an age of peace. He even had his "Blade" famously commit eco-terrorism to achieve it. Those are not the acts of someone trying to be compassionate.
If Miquella genuinely wanted an age of compassion, even with his dystopian use of charms, then Radahn would never have been his first or even second pick for a consort - concerns on incest aside. Radahn's famed for his willpower and his love of war - that's two deal-breaking problems for Miquella. Literally anyone (except Rykard after feeding himself to the God-Devouring Serpent or Ranni in any circumstance) would've been better options for him - even Messmer or a dead Godwyn.
Of all the demi-gods, Ranni and Radahn are primed to both never willingly work with Miquella by their very nature. So Miquella couldn't pick much worse than Radahn for his goals - there's no productive sense to it. Too much cost for an empty reward. Picking Radahn seems more motivated by asserting Miquella's control and dominance, given how problematic and counterproductive the effort was - an ego and confidence booster. It's like Miquella trying to tell himself the lie that there's no threat to his plans if he can conquer and charm even the indomitable Radahn. It's a personal power play.
This was quite the rant. If you didn't intend to imply good on Miquella, I apologise for how long this was. Otherwise, it has to be explicit that Miquella is not heroic - although he does try to be. He has made critical mistakes, ones that twisted himself and his cause. Radahn is very likely another one of his victims, a demented trophy triumph given that the Starscourge seems to lack any motive for willingly joining Miquella.
He wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men. There is nothing more terrifying

@uwochka it's an overleveled build, everything was 60 stats basically. But you should focus on mainly faith with some dex or strength (what you prefer) to make this build work in lower levels.
