    A series of videos on the restoration of the older 7.3 would be very cool.

    I hope you can save these. Love to see older vehicles saved and reused rather than scrapped. We NEED more reuse and restoration than disposing and scrapping.

    I personally own a 6.0 power stroke and have used the 7.3 power stroke and 7.3 idi they all are good engines if they have been serviced properly! The only thing that I can recall to make the 6.0 to act up when putting the fuel to it is one or both fuel pumps are going out ! Just check your fuel pressure one it! I would if it was my truck is to take it down to power stroke help down GA and have it dealer proof by them they make a 6.0 sing

    I love how people refer to these trucks as vintage now, or "OBS." Seems like just yesterday they were on dealer's lots.

    I like the 6.0. I own an 03 6.0 CCSB Lariat FX4 and I have put almost 20k miles on it this last year with many of those miles towing my camper with very minimal issues.

    I'd kinda like to see what went wrong with the 6.0, the OBS is easily great content, it would look great next to the 357. As for the '03 7.3, let's see what it takes to sort the leak!

    I had a '05 F350 6.0...it blew a turbo at 50k, I kept it for another 75k and got rid of it. Don't waste $$$ trying to "bullet proof" that one. The 7.3's are definitely the winners! 🔥👍

    My dad bought one brand new like the 1st truck. A year later my sister wrecked it really bad. She walked away without a scratch (everyone was thankful for that), but that truck never drove the same after repairs. My dad was super bummed as that was his 1st new vehicle ever and he bought it when he turned 50.

    the 7.3 that took a bit to start, check your LPOP, it pumps oil up to the HPOP but if the tolerances get loose it will let oil drain out of the HPOP and make it tough to start. good stuff though, 7.3s for life

  • @vsosumv
    @vsosumv ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There 2 sets of 2 Orings where the turbo mounts to the pedestal, and where the pedestal mounts to the block, it’s a super common leak and could easily leak that much. Another common leak is the fittings where the HPOP lines go into the HPOP

  • @dphoenix1
    @dphoenix1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your Superfund site generating oil leak might be something with the HEUI system, which is up in the valley… I’m not entirely familiar with exactly where things like the IPR valve or pressure sensors are placed in the valley, but I do know that system has to build high pressure oil before the injectors will fire, and if something is allowing the oil to leak by, that could have contributed to the long crank time. Just a wild guess, it certainly could also be something with the turbo oiling system, but my first hunch was something to do with the HEUI. But that is a TON of oil, so it shouldn’t be hard to find.

    I recommend stiction eliminator from either arch oil or hotshot, for the 6.0L. There is no guarantee it will work, but may give you more time before you have to tear in to the HEUI inj system.

    That's how I found the oil cooler and filter housing was leaking on my wife's JKU is loading it upon my 40 footer. All the oil and antifreeze ran off the top of the engine and down the back of the motor and transmission onto the trailer deck. That happened the day before we were going to Moab.

  • @chevymontmarlo

    That white single cab could use a good v10, It looks solid as as well

  • @rykerf8265
    @rykerf8265 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With that 2nd truck, I assume you either have hpop leaks, or a fuel line leak. There's a hole on the passenger side of the valley in the back that drains anything in the valley down in front of the flywheel and out under the truck. Had the same issue on my 95. Rear main seals are fairly uncommon on these.

  • @joaninga1
    @joaninga1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The 2nd 1, is probably the o rings between the turbo and intake. A very common problem on high mileage 7.3s

    • @tdotw77
      @tdotw77 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      👍2nd this(turbo o-rings)...or high pressure oil line/hoses from hpop to heads --stc fittings leak and or hoses develop a hole(sometimes the ipr on hpop leaks too)... Or the oil rail plugs at the ends of head, specifically the one at the back of pass side head gets baked from down pipe being hot right next to it for 20+yrs/300k+ miles. I've seen all of these leaks on my 3 trucks. If the oil is dripping down the back... It is 99.9% coming from top of motor and not rear main(which very rarely leaks). Oil leaking down driver side onto axle is oil cooler o-rings leaking(usually when cold& stops when engine warms up). Overall, those 3 trucks look pretty decent -wonder what the price was for the 3?
