Why Is Healing Not Automatic?

  • It's a common question that Christians have but we are not always willing to honestly ask. Well, today someone has! Why is healing not automatic? The questioner says if Jesus already paid for our sickness and diseases then why does the healing not just manifest without us having to do anything? Why is healing not automatic?
In this Charis Minute, Barry Bennett points us towards Jesus to learn something of who He is to find an answer and peace surrounding this question.

Thank you brother Barry for the teaching and the excellent analogy of the vine and the branches from John 15.
You are constantly blessed, abundantly fruitful in Christ Jesus our Lord,
    Samuel

I've heard inclining thy voice is more important than reading the Bible. Of course this pastor was sick and healed all within one year. Jesus has his favorites, simple as that

Thanks for your comment on this video. Barry’s testimony of his healing is pretty amazing. If you search through TH-cam you will find a full version of his story, worth a watch! You've mentioned here, and in a different video's comments section, about Jesus having His favourites. In the teachings of Christianity, as reflected through Biblical scripture, it's understood that Jesus does not have "favourites" in the way humans often perceive favouritism. God shows no partiality or favouritism (Romans 2:11). In Jesus's ministry, He showed love and compassion to all people, regardless of their social status, race, or background.
Jesus demonstrated His agape love by interacting with and healing the marginalized and sinners as well as the more respected members of society. His teachings emphasized that God’s agape love is available to all who believe in Him and follow His commandments.
That said, Jesus does have deep relationships with individuals, as depicted in the Gospels with His disciples, particularly Peter, James, and John who were part of His inner circle and witnessed events others did not. Mary of Bethany also had things revealed to her that others missed due to her relationship with Jesus. In John 15 Jesus mentions He reveals things from His Father to the disciples who were listening because he now counted them as cherished friends more so than servants. This does not imply favouritism but rather a specific role or purpose that Jesus entrusted to certain individuals within His earthly ministry.
Scripture also reveals the true nature of God as being good. God’s goodness is who He is, not just what He does. If God was known for just doing good, then one might perceive God to be selective with His goodness, but God is good because He is GOOD! Gaining a revelation about God as being good is an important part of getting to know who God is so we can have a relationship with Him based on His true nature. It’s hard to have a relationship with someone you misunderstand.
The essential message is that in the eyes of God, we are all equally loved and valued. The opportunity to build a closer relationship with Jesus is open to anyone who seeks Him sincerely.

Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

"Jacob I loved, Esau I hated" what is God's word saying here?

@@rickspalding3047 The statement "Jacob I loved, Esau I hated," found in Romans 9:13 and referencing Malachi 1:2-3, is a challenging expression that often raises questions about God's nature and His way of dealing with humanity. Jacob and Esau were alive during the time period we call the Old Testament, and so it pre-dates the birth of Jesus and the ushering in of the New Covenant.
This statement, "Jacob I loved, Esau I hated," is not about emotional feelings of love and hate as we typically understand, but rather about God's choice and covenant.
In this context, "love" signifies God's choice to extend His grace and covenant promises to Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel and who became the father of the Israelite nation). Conversely, "hated" signifies not being chosen for that particular covenant relationship and the blessings associated with it. God was stewarding the family lineage towards the coming of Jesus the Messiah, and in the case of Jacob and Esau, Jacob was the one chosen to carry on that line.

@charisaustralia I guess I'm trying to justify where I am in life and I do take some responsibility but I also blame God for things out of my control. I'm sure many feel this way. I guess I don't fully comprehend the blood covenant created with Jesus dying on the cross. Obviously supernatural, the last two years have been pretty bad. The holy spirit has showed me certain things but when your in misery and weak, im to the point where the bible talks about endurance, hope, faith and love a bit condescending. Edit: I've had the holy spirit deliver me while I'm at work for about a year. I'm not understanding deliverance anymore if I feel worse most of the time
