As a former 10 year tenis player, now a padel player, I complete agree that the first steps are the roughest before you start to enjoying it. Bela has a quote in an interview from a few years back where he recalls playing with a kid his dad and grandparent in padel court. The point of entry in padel is so much lower in padel vs tenis that everybody can join. 2. Best of luck in the Euro tournament Sandy! Great podcast and very insightful. Keep it up!
In Sweden there were way to many padelcourts built during the boom. Now most clubs are struggling. I know as I work in padel in Sweden. So now I believe clubs must start to work more together as the courts stand empty daytime. But the level in padel has increased on the club level in Sweden but we need less courts to make it work over time.
Not sure about anywhere else in the UK but in Manchester the courts are full all day long. We also have maybe 5/6 more clubs opening in the city over the next few months so there is definitely high demand here.
The team aspect is definitely a problem in creating mega stars Ala Alcaraz, Tennis doubles is amazing but very little interest compared to singles. To really grow the sport globally they need Mega Stars transcending the Padel sport?
they say there are 10 times more tennis courts in just the USA than there are padel courts in the entire world. However, yes padel is growing and tennis is stagnant at best. Even still, I think due to costs of courts and maintanence I think pickleball is the larger danger. It is easier to play for children, much easier, no frustration of no kicking it out or hitting off back glass etc. A few rule changes to make pickleball more exciting and I think it will overtake padel.. in the US, padel is still relatively nowhere.... 3 clubs in NY, costing 125$ an hour, Miami more courts, slightly less costly. Yes tennis needs to do something and maybe they need to look at the game itself.... how its played, rules, equipment, etc...
Watching racket sport is boring. Playing racket sport is fun. Tennis and squash makes me sweat. Playing padel is easier 😊. As a group of four friends? padel and beer. Quick game for two its tennis, squash and beer 😅

True. But many did still make big money during the boom.
Now the boom is over but the padel is steady growing.

Djokovic is right. In my country (Lithuania) already 2 clubs changed their tennis courts to padel courts. The revenue is 3 times higher.

I think if padel has a Singles version, it'll be much much more successful in terms of viewership
Singles is almost a different sport. The angles don’t come into play as much, it’s a bit boring.

In America probably.
Pickleball will never outclass padel anywhere else.

Watching Tennis is way, way more fun than watching Padel
No one enjoys any sport they don’t understand though…
@@alexxela754 I think the man has a point, I play padel but on TV I find tennis way more interesting
Tennis = 💀
Padel = 📈
Pickleball = 🇺🇸
