    My greatest drenching occurred in the Immigrant Wilderness near Grizzly Peak. You would have been in hysterics watching, and listening howling while putting my tent ⛺️ up. Saucer Meadows is gorgeous 😍. 💚💚💚🌲🌲🌲🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🦋🌺🪻🌻

      😂 Roger and I got caught in a thunderstorm over Big Sam. You've never seen two people run down a pass to quickly. 🤣🤣🤣

    Great video, just came back from a hike up there today to escape the heat. Stopped a couple miles short of the lake but relaxed for a bit by the creek.

    You captured that gorgeous scenery well in this video. Looks great! Nice fish and a bear as well, so cool...and I guess you solved The Great Mystery 😉 Can't wait to see more! The map feature was nice too. Spectacular video!

    That’s my favorite backpacking trip I’ve done so far. Looks so different covered in snow. Great video Jim 🤙🏻

    That is my favorite place to backpack! Looks like it was a bit treacherous getting up there. Kudos Jim! 👍

    I enjoyed that video man... Great adventure. Looks like the potential for some big browns in that lake.

      @@highcountrychronicles Maybe not as bad in the high country there...less critters

    RE the Thermarest inflation bag; give it a quick puff like one does to open a produce bag and it's amazing the volume that it can push into the mattress. Only seems to take about seven bags and my full-length bad is inflated.

    Fun trip! Glad you caught something. I am going to get into fly fishing this summer here in utah so your videos have been helpful. Keep it up 👍

    My brother and I have been watching your videos for a long time and were up there last weekend also! Probably missed you by a couple hours. Great video as always, maybe will run into you out there one of these days :)

    Wow, looks like you'll had a great trip !! I was wondering about the conditions up there. Total solitude !! ( except for the bear) .Some times difficult conditions like that, make for a more memorable trip. I hope those eye glasses you wore, protected your eyes. I've burned my eyeballs before hiking on snow. I can't wait to get up there !! Cheers !!

    • @highcountrychronicles
      @highcountrychronicles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! "Burned your eye balls" is that like snow blindness or something different.
      It was definitely a trip to be remembered!

      I was on a winter (snow) backpacking trip near Carson Pass, and forgot my sun glasses. It was sunny during the hike. I burned the whites of my eyes, under my chin and under my nose. It was pretty painful for several days .Fortunely, your eyes repair themselves incredibly fast.

      @highcountrychronicles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow. Guess I'll be more careful to wear my sunglasses on future. 👍🏾. Thanks!

    Do you take a bear canister when you go out there

    • @highcountrychronicles
      @highcountrychronicles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. I always carry a canister. Emre had an Ursack. I have two canisters, a small one I use for up to 3 days and a larger one for over 3.

    Glad you made it and landed a gorgeous brown! Just this week the ranger told me that even the road to Crabtree is closed. Hoping to do Camp or Bear Lake in mid June, but if still closed maybe Relief would be the backup. Do you think it'd be safely accessible by then? Thanks for your videos! I like the mapped summary at the beginning of this one.

    • @highcountrychronicles
      @highcountrychronicles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I'll be doing more Emigrant videos this year! Relief will definitely be accessible. maybe not the backside stream crossing but the Lunch Meadow trail side definitely. I'd look for Crabtree to be open by second week of June, if not this weekend. It almost always is.

    Hey Jim quick question what rod and reel are you using ?

    • @highcountrychronicles
      @highcountrychronicles  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm using an 8ft 4wt cane rod I made about 15 years ago and a Hardy Flyweight real with a GPX 4wt line.

    • @masonrubio9460
      @masonrubio9460 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@highcountrychronicles you should get a faster rod for your cast style
