Your "basis of argument" is,...how shall I put this nicely...fuggin' DUMB!! Naturally, it'd be a virtual impossibility for me to prove, HOWEVER,...with this being said, I would not hesitate to wager 100 quid on the probability that Curtis Warren's I.Q. is at least EQUAL TO,...if not (very probable) HIGHER than that of Colin Wilcox's. But I TOTALLY get the "jab" for which you're (half-arsedly/unsuccessfully) attempting to pull-off here; Brits are to brain surgeons, what 'mericans is ta' refuse-engineers. NEXT....!!!
Elevation Nation Yes, this is the same Curtis Warren that won a ton on "Sale of the Century" in 1986. He was one of the biggest winners in the history of the show. Also worth noting, he had different wives on each show. During "Sale" he was married to Sharon. During "Greed", his wife was Phyllis. If anyone wants to see Warren on "Sale of the Century", his shows are running right now on GSN in the mornings.
sha11235 I was also pretty young when Sale was on during it's original run. Luckily, as an adult, I was able to watch a bunch of episodes on GSN. I got really invested in this great game. I remember Curtis Warren specifically (along with some other big winners), as he had a really long run. Here's to hoping he did invest all of his winnings well.
true story about that moment When I was living at home with my mother and brother me and my brother watched the show in our bedrooms and when Daniel went for it I thought he was going to get it and then the final answer came up wrong and my brother flat out walked over to my room (it was basically next door separated by a closet) and said he though the show was rigged I don't think the show was "rigged" but can someone tell me what smell "Chocolate" has (cos yes the question was about "smells" if I remember right)
I wonder why they didn't get Curtis Warren for the "Ask the Expert" lifeline for the clock version of WWTBAM. He would've killed TONS of those questions!
I will never forget when I first saw this episode (I taped it)! This happened a few days after TWENTY-ONE had the first winner break the $1,000,000 threshold! One of my favorite GREED moments, and Curtis Warren also won big on $ALE OF THE CENTURY, having cleared the Winner's Board and won the $50,000 bonus!
sha11235 After Warren, there were two other people who preceded Jennings: David Legler (the short-lived Twenty-One reboot) and Kevin Olmstead (Millionaire).
Let's get one thing straight--this is not staged, rigged, fixed, etc. It is illegal to rig a game show due to the quiz show scandals of the 1950s. Again--THIS...IS...NOT...STAGED!
From 4:09, some of the credits appeared and the production card (Dick Clark Productions). Then, half the credits started again with the same background (where they do the introduction for Greed) 'til it reaches to "(C) MM dick clark productions and FOX Broadcasting Company all rights reserved." and another production card (20th TELEVISION) appeared. That's what I love about the credits and the show on GAME SHOW network for syndication.
And just a few days after this, it was BACK to Twenty-One and (as I commented before) David Legler overtaking Curtis to become the all-time winningest contestant in game show history.
I forget but I DO know there is an episode of Jim Perry's "Sale of the Century" that he appeared on and I forget how he did there. Funny to thin that he would go on this show and take them for over $1 Million Dollars! (For anyone that wonders whenever I say "take" I mean they "won" that amount...just to clear that up)
Well, when I originally watched these moments, I didn't know the answer to John Carpenter's question, but I knew the answers to Curtis Warren's question.
is this the same curtus because i thought as jim perry said his wifes name was sharaon this woman is nammed phylis and he has a daughter christa as jim said correct me if im wrong
But those series were not big screen movies at the time of this question, which was 2000. Big Screen versions of Miami Vice and Bewitched came out in 2005, I do believe.
The two Roberts & Daniel also won the jackpot on GREED. But in the usual season, it was just how far the team could go up the tower and stop with all the money.
@BlackwoodCompany it looks too perfect, he got all 4 answers quickly, he had too much charisma like, you know, an actor, it all looks like it was rehearsed before to show the winning of over a million dollars and therefore boost the show's ratings.
Curtis was definitely an actor & a bad one at that. Think the Jeffersons white boy wigga (actor Jay Hammer) from the later episodes. I'm talking shit acting. I speak from experience at the highest level. Everything here smells scripted to me. he was a shitty actor throughout the whole show if you pay attention. It's not even convincing in the slightest as far as I'm concerned. I'm talking low-level soap opera acting at best. IMO, this shit was staged.
you gotta be cool under pressure. If you get rattled that makes you not be able to think straight and then you botch it. That's one thing I always will give this dude its that he was so cool under pressure and you legit couldn't rattle him. One of the best it would seem
my son hates how greed was another Disney's doug and spike TV's ren and stimpy like all other game shows before and that name makes him think of the last wcw ppv in the spring of 2001 that's why he likes click hosted by that so called host of American idol ryan secrest because of poundsdwayne47 who likes the corporate ministry and crypt killer for playstation
Curtis also had a helluva' good run on Sale Of The Century in the mid 80's!! Smart dude, for sure!! And I think he was an OS, also!
+greg errautt not that smart, just that American game shows are much simpler than UK and European shows. take millionaire as a typical example.
NEXT....!!!
+Colin Wilcox 13 people have won US WWtBaM and only 5 have won in the UK, although the UK invented WWtBaM.
is this the same Greg that was on Press Your Luck and Sale of the Century? just wondering
+greg errautt he looks younger here than he did on Sale of the Century
Saw this when it aired the first time, could never forget this guy and his hair.
+FireCracker3240 I didn't realize that. Of course, I was younger when Sale came on and didn't watch it religiously due to being at school at the time.
+FireCracker3240 I hope he invested wisely in his winnings on both shows.
sha11235 I was also pretty young when Sale was on during it's original run. Luckily, as an adult, I was able to watch a bunch of episodes on GSN. I got really invested in this great game. I remember Curtis Warren specifically (along with some other big winners), as he had a really long run.
Here's to hoping he did invest all of his winnings well.
Believe it or not, he is STILL in the Top 10 game show winners in the US!
I remember watch this when it first aired. That guy was awesome.
I'm willing to bet if he went for the 2.2 Mill he would have won it! GOD I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE THAT!
MissGreenDay7 me too. He was a genius!!!
We should also remember: this was back in Spring 2000. Since then, "Bewitched" and "Miami Vice" have been made into theatrical movies.
This is literally the only moment on Greed when someone won the top prize.
Before that, Daniel Avila had a chance to win $2,200,000, but came up one answer short!
Dana Long Had another shot at $1million but again 1 answer short
true story about that moment
When I was living at home with my mother and brother me and my brother watched the show in our bedrooms and when Daniel went for it I thought he was going to get it and then the final answer came up wrong and my brother flat out walked over to my room (it was basically next door separated by a closet) and said he though the show was rigged
I don't think the show was "rigged" but can someone tell me what smell "Chocolate" has (cos yes the question was about "smells" if I remember right)
Yeah, he picked "Tuna" instead of "Chocolate"
And a couple of shows after Curtis' big win, Daniel had a chance to win $1,000,000-- same result as his $2.2M attempt.
That Rod Stewart hair... it always burns in my memory
I wonder why they didn't get Curtis Warren for the "Ask the Expert" lifeline for the clock version of WWTBAM. He would've killed TONS of those questions!
I remember watching this live and he was the smartest one up there. I knew he was going to win!!!
Curtis had already won over $136,000 on Sale of the Century in 1986 before appearing on Greed. And I think he was also on Win Ben Stein's Money.
now bewitched and miami vice are movies lol
+Ad Co That's what I was thinking...lol
+Ad Co Yes, this was before they became films. Also, Ken Jennings would top Curtis's winnings a few years later.
sha11235 I know this was before. That's why I said NOW they are movies. Any more obvious points you want to make?
sha11235 After Warren, there were two other people who preceded Jennings: David Legler (the short-lived Twenty-One reboot) and Kevin Olmstead (Millionaire).
that's was after the game show ended
Now more of them have hit the big screen since this aired.
Curtis did really well. Best contestant ever to play this game.
This was the best of all the prime time game shows from this era.
One of my favorite game shows :/ I miss it
I Want Greed Back
Let's get one thing straight--this is not staged, rigged, fixed, etc.
It is illegal to rig a game show due to the quiz show scandals of the 1950s.
Again--THIS...IS...NOT...STAGED!
Gotta love the confidence of this guy. xD
There were two movies called Mchale's Navy and two called Dragnet. Both had the original tv casts in the earlier versions.
I love this show!
And just a few days after this, it was BACK to Twenty-One and (as I commented before) David Legler overtaking Curtis to become the all-time winningest contestant in game show history.
an incredibly simple question tbh
love the music
Yes, it's the same Curtis Warren. He obviously divorced (or was widowed) and remarried during the years between Sale and Greed.
We sure remembered them all, but we won't spoil it.
this guy is the only contestant on this show I ever remember because of his hair. Forgot he won $1m though
Love his hairstyle.
Didn't this guy appear on the first episode of Greed? He had the brain of a bad ass that will be examined for science when he dies...IF he dies!
I forget but I DO know there is an episode of Jim Perry's "Sale of the Century" that he appeared on and I forget how he did there. Funny to thin that he would go on this show and take them for over $1 Million Dollars!
(For anyone that wonders whenever I say "take" I mean they "won" that amount...just to clear that up)
The second and third if I'm not mistaken.
There were actually 5 right answers at the time this was made.
Miami Vice: The Movie (1985) was the 5th correct answer.
2:21 Maybe funniest moment in Chucks's life...
Austin LaPlante anything else to add?
Funny cause Miami Vice and Bewitched became movies too
Imagine if this was the 2.2 million dollar question
Scottwilkie18 Ummmmmmm? No.
Chcuk's best game show ever.
I wonder if the Bewitched and Miami Vice producers saw this and decided to make their shows into movies just in response to seeing this.
there was animated feature film to the Flintstones in the 60s
Curtis looks like Dana carvy!
Bewitched was also a big screen movie. But that did not happened until 5 years later.
Well, when I originally watched these moments, I didn't know the answer to John Carpenter's question, but I knew the answers to Curtis Warren's question.
lol how old is this? arent miami vice, hawaii-five-o, and bewitched all made into movies now too?
@cipher0 That was a television movie. They were looking for THEATRICAL movies.
Nice music to Greed, wasn't it?
Yeah
If I win a lot of money I want my baby to be right there with me!
@manEfresh1991
Must have been the origonal fox broadcast.
Easiest million ever won.
is this the same curtus because i thought as jim perry said his wifes name was sharaon this woman is nammed phylis and he has a daughter christa as jim said correct me if im wrong
@omalor How can you tell?
now bewitched is a movie........ so there is five of them.
Keith Mauldin they made a Miami vice
But those series were not big screen movies at the time of this question, which was 2000. Big Screen versions of Miami Vice and Bewitched came out in 2005, I do believe.
that's years before
This man is crazy. And this may be staged. But he is somehow still awesome.
The two Roberts & Daniel also won the jackpot on GREED. But in the usual season, it was just how far the team could go up the tower and stop with all the money.
I was in 7th grade!!
what happened in the 90s
@simonjeste The show aired from 1999 to 2000, so...
That guy has weird hair
jetnut89 He could've get a haircut.
fitting anime hair for a Top 10 Anime Victory
OOPS!
all except Melrrose Place and Hawaii Five-O have been movies -- but not back when this game show aired, I guess :p
It came just before they did that.
yea so is bewitched, this was in 1999 or 2000 though when they both weren't
@Tubewings Yeah, that's right.
was this the same dude who won 50k on sale of the century?
Miami Vice was a movie too
Not at this time that this aired. Bewitched is added to the list as well.
The movie wouldn't be released until long after the episode originally aired in February of 2000.
Yeah I know I saw it did you like it?
Haven't seen it yet.
Greed's version of John Carpenter.
But it was not at the time of the question.
Oh yes, it was.
omg 💘
first ken jennings
John Carpenter's on WWTBAM was easier and funnier at that.
Ken Jennings didn't appear on Jeopardy! yet to break Curtis' record.
sha11235 David Leglar on 21 surpassed Curtis with $1,760,000
I think Dan Avila and Curtis should have traded questions.
I'd Like That!
@BlackwoodCompany it looks too perfect, he got all 4 answers quickly, he had too much charisma like, you know, an actor, it all looks like it was rehearsed before to show the winning of over a million dollars and therefore boost the show's ratings.
this looks like it was staged.
not fair for chuck to give him only 30 secs to give him the answers, its a million $ ? he should have let him take all the time he needs
During the Million Dollar Moment, a player has 30 seconds to review the question and then 10 to give their four answers or they win nothing.
IMO, this shit was staged.
this guy is an actor,no human would act like that while on the verge of winning 1.4 mil
you gotta be cool under pressure. If you get rattled that makes you not be able to think straight and then you botch it. That's one thing I always will give this dude its that he was so cool under pressure and you legit couldn't rattle him. One of the best it would seem
Not an actor. He's acting like that because he's confident and knows all the right answers.
How's he supposed to act?
my son hates how greed was another Disney's doug and spike TV's ren and stimpy like all other game shows before and that name makes him think of the last wcw ppv in the spring of 2001 that's why he likes click hosted by that so called host of American idol ryan secrest because of poundsdwayne47 who likes the corporate ministry and crypt killer for playstation
what the fuck does that even mean? what the Hell are you on?
