  • Today's project was supposed to be a cone shaped bowl that is supported by two triangle pieces. The inspiration is from a similar bowl I saw on Pintrest. I recently got a beautiful maple burl from Worldwide Burls that would be perfect for this project. However, as you will see in the video, not everyting goes according to plan!
    I hope you enjoy this video. Please let me know if there is a project you'd like to see me make and I will do my best to do it. Thank you for all the support you have shown me and the channel!
    Matthew 5:9 (NIV)
    Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
    I got this beautiful Maple burl from Worldwide Burl. You can find them on Instagram and they auction several pieces every 24 hours. You simply put how much you want to bid in the comments. Their shipping is fast and very reasonalbe. I'm not affiliated with them, but I am a big fan!

    this has the potential to be a great piece down the road. Sometimes a fixed piece can turn out better than the original plan. I love it when I have to figure out how to fix a funnel.
    waiiting to see the fix, don't give up on it

    Welcome to the club. All mistakes are good because we learn from them. V bowls are beautiful when that doesn't happen. Good call on the fix you talked about.

    You could still salvage the bottom. It could be a small cup or box. Thank you for sharing. Have a good day and continue to stay healthy.

    Bummer, was going well for ya. If you do later some resin work repair, l think reddish brown resin with gold glitter would look fantastic. Good luck with the next project. 👍🏼

    That's a pretty piece. You could do a multi part epoxy pour and separate the two pieces with clear epoxy

    How about joining the two pieces together with a segmented ring? Maybe use a darker wood (Walnut, Mahogany). Would look like it was an intentional design.. just a thought. All the best, Scott.

    Hey, I recognize that centering tool you used. . Well that's to bad that happened Ed, but it sounds like you got a good plan to hopefully fix it. I'm curious on your bit extension, do you have to file a flat spot on the shank for the set screws to hold onto? Seems like if you didn't it would spin and gall it up. Like when a drill bit spins in the chuck. Hey, maybe do the fix for your next video.

  • @jencstephens5452
    @jencstephens5452 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    As soon as it happened I was sure it was intentional and you planned to do the resin gap idea. It's low enough in the piece to simply use tape and popsicle sticks on the outside as a form, or perhaps lots of hot glue and the side off a plastic bottle and fill the inside with resin to just past where it needs to be. With the punky wood, that resin will seep in and give a good hold to the piece. Design changes are what makes this kind of work go from good to great.

    Hi was it an accident or did you really do it on purpose I think it look nice with a resin.
    Or a socket joint / mortise and tenant joint , with either ebony or even a piece of Maple very white looking , keep up the good 😊 work ha ha , stay safe facemask and Head shield on , as they say.

    So, you made a mistake. And you let everyone see it! I am mightily impressed! When you finish the piece, I think clear resin is the way to go. It will likely still show the mistake but it will also show the remedy. Besides, I think it will be prettier with the finished piece than black resin. This was an excellent video! Thanks.
