  • Get MORE POWER from your Harley Sportster with One Simple Adjustment! My Sportster throttle was feeling a little sloppy lately so I wanted to take a look at it and make a few adjustments to make sure everything was adjusted and functioning properly!

    I put a new grips on my 2020, 1200 iron sportster an after installing I would pull on the throttle, but there was no snap back and every time I tighten the housing. I thought it was too tight here I had to cruise control knob, turned into much that’s why there wasn’t a no snap back.but only realized after I took off an reinstalled like 3 times trying to figure it out lol

    Talk about over looking the obvious.
    Was disapointed with top end of my (new to me) roadster ,thinking this 2019 aint shit compaired to the 06 i had. In 5th no power once you hit 5,000 rpm.
    This video poped up while checking into changing gear ratio. Lol
    Wasnt sure what to expect ,didnt seem that far out of adjustment when looked but....
    Pulls hard past 6 grand now and throttle response is a lot sharper.

    My throttle was also not opening properly. It was only at maybe 90% at WOT. It’s good to check it every time you clean or replace your filter.

      Yes, you replace the IAC with a manual unit. I ended up with two and will have one for sale if you’re interested (and live in the US) I can make a video if you like.

      It's not really a good idea to have the efi evo motors to idle too low. It kills oil pressure and causes the motor to not get proper lubrication. Anything under 900rpm is asking for trouble.

    I see you have a good amount of blow by in your throttle body from the oil breather bolts it's probably one of the worst designs Harley-Davidson has done with engine breathing. You should look up external filters and catch cans .all the oil is doing is putting build up on top of the Pistons and dirtying up your throttle body and intake.

    • @TheMotoJawn
      @TheMotoJawn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting I'll have to look into it. Anything I should do in the mean time, clean it?

      @@TheMotoJawn there's really not much you can do wipe out the front of the throttle body with a rag would be about it. Harley says it's fine I mean 95% of the people who leave it the way Harley has it just me and I guess the other 5% of people think it's weird to put oil in your combustion chamber. You can look up a video from doc Harley he talks about it.

      I know this is old but I just got my first bike which is the Iron 883 with a stage 1 kit and a real nice LA Perra seat, 8-10 inch T handlebars, oil relocation kit, forward pegs etc and im actually very happy I didn't go bigger than the 883 for my first bike. This 883 is almost too much power and weight for me, honestly. But everyone is different and skill levels are different, etc, so maybe a 1200 is a good first bike for some. For me though, the 883 is almost too much for me to handle but im doing ok so far and will get used to it but I feel like it has more than plenty of power for me to grow into. Let's see how I feel a year from now, but for now, man, this 883 is way more powerful than I was led to believe. I know the full Python exhaust system and screaming eagle air intake adds a little more power with the tune but I wouldn't think it would be any more than maybe an extra 5%-10% from stock but damn this bike has so much torque out the gate and im just really not used to it all. It's startling every time I take off on the bike and im giving barely any throttle.
      I gotta find my rhythm with the bike and get used to it. Im just taking it very slow and gonna go hit a parking lot this weekend and really practice. I definitely need to practice and just get comfortable on this bike cuz ive only got used to riding a Suzuki TU 250x which is way lighter and way less powerful than this Iron 883 is. My brother has a Tu 250 I drove probably about 30 hours on and it just so happened to be the exact bike I got in my MSF course as well so it helped beingfamiliar with the bike already. . So I got fairly competent on that bike but the Iron 883 is a totally different beast but in a good way. I'm just a little intimidated by it so far but hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll feel like 1 with my bike.
