I went to the Dominican Republic with my family when I was 14. I don’t remember the vacation being that much fun, probably because we stayed at an all inclusive resort and didn’t do much outside of that. I want to go back to this beautiful country someday and see what the rest of the island has to offer after I finish learning Spanish. I’m sure I missed out on a lot of great experiences before.

I sailed the Polish yacht near Cape Beata and lost rudder. I was forced to enter port of Barahona. Cool place and nice people. I think I will visit Barahona again this year.
Looks like a very peaceful place. People get along very well regardless of their skin color differences. I come from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. Unfortunately, the Island is located in Asia. A continent full of neigboring countries that hate each other because of their differences. I wished I belonged to somewhere in the west.
About 80 to 90% are black or mulattoes (mixed race) with different shades of pigmentation and features. There's a minority of light skinned or whites too, specially in the north-central of the island and Upper Middle class families.
There are a big percentage of African ancestors and mixed with others as well. it was the first places in America where African slaves were taken by the Spanish on 1500. Bless from DR 🇩🇴🙏🏼🤣
I have a friend that I grew up with in Florida , he has lived in DR for almost 30 years now , he seems to love it there. He comes back to Florida once a year to visit.
