This is such a great looking figure. I wish they utilized weathering more in the black series. I’ve had 2 of these guys sitting in preorder from bbts for months now lol. I think it would be really intuitive if hasbro made 2-3 variants for trooper figs by making the weathering varied. That way when you army build you don’t have the exact same figure. We all know something like that would never happen tho...

The amount of clone packs, droid packs, and troop packs that would sell would be insane. Not to mention missed opportunities like a delta squad 4 pack. Each figure could be deluxe with unique accessories and they could charge $125 for it. Just my thoughts, but I feel like there’s just so much potential
Despite the limited articulation, it still looks great. Great for army building, and you can get them in cool poses. I do wish they would have added another blaster to this one, but hey it’s a cool figure and I’m satisfied with it. I’m thinking of making a custom out of it. Kama, blaster and maybe another helmet.

Man the only thing I didn’t like was that there were only one gun LoL! Also my Uncle said that the storm troopers are awesome (Except the first order, they suck.) and I would for sure buy 100 of these guys if I could.
Besides the lack of articulation, the figure looks great, especially the weathering. I have 2 on pre-order and I'd pick more up if I found them. That custom painted rotary blaster cannon looks amazing. Great review Justin. 👍

So cool, really looking forward to adding this 501ST to the collection, i missed out on the Order 66 pack, i think i prefer the weathering applications on the older figure but the Archive one still looks great.As you know i already have the Hot Toys Deluxe version but hey, you can never have too many 501ST Clone's no matter what scale. This mold is 100% superior in my opinion. The arms reach a 90°, which is the only terrible thing in my opinion. However, it's 100% screen accurate, and they feel extremely good in the hand. The 2020 mold isn't even animated. It's a weird stretched version of the AOTC/ROTS animation model. Plus, they have the ugly knees and elbows that don't bend with the arm. The helmet also has weird proportions and doesn't have the brow. I hope they phase out the newer mold for the older two. In my opinion, Hasbro should've rereleased the Order 66 pack Shocktrooper and 212th instead of the new mold Shocktrooper and 212th Walgreens.
The new Phase II helmet is definitely an animated stylized helmet. That’s the reason it doesn’t have the brow. I will agree that it’s kind of weird to do theatrical Archive 501st but then new body/helmet animated for the 212th. Thanks for checking out the review! -Justin
I think they both look the same so I guess the “Archive Line” is doing what it’s designed to do, reissue exact old figures. Still, this 501st will be a most welcome addition to my collection since I never opened my Order 66 4-pack I got years ago. And a wise decision that was since it’s probably one of the most expensive group of figures on the secondary market (not that I would ever sell it…). Now I’ll be able to army build some 501s. It’s just too bad it’s still the old clone body, which is so outdated now it’s sad. But again, it’s the Archive line. Hey - THANKS for the review! 😬. It’s awesome you found the whole box at Walmart. That’s a good sign perhaps my preorders will start to get filled! Yea baby!
Yeah the old clone body leaves a lot to be desired in the articulation department but I think the proportions and overall shelf presence are still pretty incredible. I would definitely pick this up if I ever get the chance. I personally prefer the old live-action clone trooper sculpt to the new animated clone sculpt (they definitely fixed the elbow articulation problem on figures like Commander Bly), but my favorite is the elite squad trooper, which is a perfect mix of both. Your guys' channel was recommended by Matt Bryant, and I have been really enjoying your Black Series reviews and discussions. Keep up the great work, I will be trying to tune in to the livestream on Sunday.

1:13 OK, RANT time... blame my OCD if you want... ..."we've seen the rifle tons and tons of times" yeah, and Hasbro still to this day manages to put a BEND in it. Freaking Blaster's looking like a Banana. There must be like 10 different people working there, Quality Control, packaging designers, factory workers etc. that are ALL responsible to some level that this item does not get bend when it arrives at the customer. How does this keep happening? I'm 95% sure it is a combination of the packaging being too tight, the plastic being too soft and maybe the factory putting it into the packaging before the plastic has evem settled into shape (because time is money and the faster it is done, the more you can produce). ...those are all dials Hasbro can tweak until they get it right, ideally that tweaking should be done before the first product ever goes into mass production, this is why you do test runs (but those cost money and we trust our production partners in China blah blah blah), this line is running for what... over 10 years now easily. I think, even if this pack in blaster might be the lowest priority ever, that in 10+ years, it would have come up at some point to fix this issue. It is small stuff like this that shows you how few shits are given by the people creating this stuff. If i'd be working there i'd keep busting peoples balls over this until it is fixed, until there is a solution of some sort. I know, i know, i know... you can just heat it up a bit, bend it back into shape and it is probably gonna be OK, well i've had rifles that were so bad they were bend again a day later after me straightening it out, the longer it stays in the packaging bend like this, the harder it gets to straighten it out because it eventually settles into that shape permanently ...so there is something for the in-box collectors to think about. The Customer should simply never have to deal with any of that. PLUS... if the customer has to fix every single rifle in this line, even if only 20% of the customers are bothered enough by it to do it. How much electricity and hot water got collectively wasted on fixing these plastic rifles because Hasbro doesn't get it right the first time? Fixing those rifles ain't gonna stop global warming, but the overall mentality is the root problem there. I'm sorry, i'm german, i can't help it. It's a mentality thing... i mean just look at Tesla Cars, you would never find Gap dimensions like that on a German engineered car unless it was in a crash previously and fixed up again. Maybe this is the reason why Stormtroopers can't hit anything? Their Blasters are all bend out of shape, those things don't even shoot where you point them. *sigh* ... /rant sorry, it's been building up.

Awsome review. I have never been able to acquire this figure in any release. My Archive preorder at GameStop never came in. The paint apps on both look awsome. I would be happy just to find one of these figures. Keep up the great work.
Great review / comparison . I agree with you about the old clone body. I can't wait for the day Hasbro gives us plain Phase II clones on the new body. Until then, I will gladly display the 2 I have on preorder. They just have to look pretty and menacing behind Archive Anakin with the Sith head.

What is up J! I've got 3 of these not in my collection at the moment, hanging around somewhere not on my shelf, the same as 15 other ancient pre-orders. I've given up even bothering to be bothered anymore! Love that mini gun Jw shooter. To me, all the clones look similar which is fine as I just put them in colour groups! I'm not even bothered by articulation. They come out of package, shooter goes in hand, place on the shelf, gather dust! I don't even fiddle with them much as I don't trust them not to bost. Just opened General Lando and had to boiling water his arm for 2 mins just to bend it. Dare not bend it back. Rotj boba was awful. Every accessory, helmet, both arms and feet boiling watered to even vanilla pose and straighten. I needed two drillbit sizes to drill out his back peg hole just to fit the jetpack....Opened movie snake eyes this morning and he's perfect....It's a good job I love star wars more than hasbro! Hope you're having a good weekend bro!

Had to reorder the preorder because they cancelled my original preorder. 🙄 If I found an unopened box I’d probably buy two 501st if a case has that many in it. Great review. I get these army builders in a batch of 3. (Unlike the 3.75 that is in a batch of 25).Entertainment Earth were available in a very limited numbers, l prefer these.

Excellent review Justin! The archive collection is an excellent way for collectors to pick up pieces that they missed relatively easy and inexpensive. I have ordered 4 of these! They’re coming from GameStop so I’ll get them sometime next century... lol but they will look great behind Anakin. Keep up the good work. MTFBWY

Great review! I’m still waiting on the 501st and Ep 3 Obiwan I preordered from GameStop months ago. Had to reorder the preorder because they cancelled my original preorder. 🙄 If I found an unopened box I’d probably buy two 501st if a case has that many in it. Justin - do you remember the case count for the box you found?

Theatrical clones are the best. I still have not got Cody. I do like ROTS. It was the most enjoyable of the prequels to watch.
