Ya'll have been asking for this video for a whole year so I went all out with B Roll, Editing and everything else hope you guys enjoy this a lot! I apologize about the dark lighting during some scenes I didn't realize having the window open would mess with the lighting so much will definitely do better going forward!
I totally agree with your review. In terms of extra features it can certainly be better, but in terms of performance it is just so spectaculair! And if you love music as much as you love movies, the Arcam is really a tough one to beat. So amazing sounding. I have the AV41 and the PA720 driving my Elac speakers: FS247s, CC241 and BS244 and Sub: JL Audio D110. TV: LG G1 OLED and Nvidia Shield media player. Enjoying it to the fullest each and every day for almost 2 years now 🙂 Greetings from Rotterdam (The Netherlands)
I've had a Denon AVC X8500, SR8015 and I changed them for an AVR20 and it was an improvement in sound but in the end you always miss the reliability and the gimmicks of the Japanese AVRs... then I bought an AVR31 and it's been the best sound to date! But I always wondered if I'm tired of Arcam and if I'd like to try something else! I have a friend who just switched from an AVR30 to a Denon Av A1h and he says it's better in everything and I believe him since the Denon Avc X8500h that I had was very much on par with the AVR20 except that in music the Denon never captivated me... another model that attracts me is the Onkyo RZ70
Great review! As a fellow owner of a JBL Synthesis SDR-35 (same AVR for all intensive purposes) I would say you've largely hit the nail on the head. There's some bugs and the setup menus leave quite a bit to be desired, but the SOUND is on a level that allows those sins to be forgiven! One of my biggest frustrations was eARC problems with the Sony X900H I previously owned, but it is now connected to a Samsung QN90C which while not perfect has resolved most of those issues. Since that change it has pretty much been pure bliss!
Great review of a great receiver. Just to clarify though, Class G isn't something that "turns on and off". Class G is the type of amp topology that this receiver always is. Class G as implemented by Arcam has 2 rails. At lower power (up to around 20 watts on this receiver) only the low power rail is engaged, and it operates in a Class A type state. If more power is needed, a 2nd rail that is Class AB is activated to get full rated power.
To be honest 31 is good enough to run the speakers you have , you need amp maybe for 4 or more atmos. I just got AVR 11 paired with Parasound a23+ halo 2 channel amp and B&W 600 series bookshelf. It took me 45 minutes to connect 5.1 system. It came with 1.6 FW so nothing else needed. Make sure to use certified hdmi cable to avoid hdmi hand shake issue. I updated from Marantz slime line but Arcam clarity of sound and music is no comparison to Marantz. I will do Dirac later. Arcam are pricey and not for novice either. My eARC with Sony tv no issues make eARC out set to out put 1 hdmi. Web interface is lot quicker to change and it avoids screen blocking while watching tv. Once get used to it, it is non issue. Mode button remote is handy you can set 2 channel always to fronts and subwoofer in setting.
I’d say price wise that’s a really really good deal! I’ve never had a processor personally but I’ve heard good things about the AV41! The only issue I can see for you, is you might that if you want to get a setup with more then say 5 speakers. You might start to cap out the wattage and might need to get a second or third amp as well depending on the type of speakers you get.
Do you have speakers in the ceiling or is just the ones hanging on the wall and how does it sound with dolby atmos and auro 3D? Another thing, do you hear difference in the sound when you change your motive power amplifier to the Arcam power amplifier because I have almost the same set up and I want to know what I’m losing ? 😊Thanks
I have 7.2.4 so 2 hanging on front wall and 2 hanging on back wall, in both Dolby atmos and auro 3D it sounds freaking amazing! And yeah I can hear the difference, the class G/AB amplification across the whole system sounds cleaner and more powerful. I also sometimes got buzzing when speakers were on but nothing was playing in my system with emotiva, with Arcam don’t get that anymore perfectly silent! And no problem at all happy to answer thanks for watching! 🙂
@@LordCivickOG thanks very much for your reply. I appreciate that a lot. But it comes with a lot of money to spend. 😂 i got arcam AV40 with 11channel Tonewinner power amplifier,I got 5.2 which I will upgrade to 5.2.4 very soon all my speakers are KEF including subwoofers, my system are dead silence when I’m not playing any sound …… would you advise me to upgrade my power amplifier to the Arcam power amplifier or there is no need?
@@michaelnyansafo7343 The money part is 100% correct, but honestly if anything I'd recommend you do something similiar to me if you want better sound. I'd recommend getting a PA720 or PA240 and connecting your front channel to one of those and pluggging everything else into the Tone winner. Now if its worth thats up to you to decide tbh, if you have the Q series kef speakers I'd just keep using what you have already. Now if its R series then an Arcam Amp might be what you need for sure to get to the next level I hope this helps!
What version of DIRAC did you use? The latest version can't even get my delays or levels correct, all zereos... I'm using an AV40 but I would think the issue persist across multiple products.

Awesome review. I am interested, however, the lack of updates got me iffy.
@@wintez Yep, and it’s already such a impressive product with a little tweaks it could be a absolutely perfect!
Couldn’t the AVR11 do the job just as well?
It could but it’s some 540 watts vs 1260 watts and my speakers are extra hungry so I need the extra power for my setup 🙂
With the crutchfield sale you can get the AV41 and PA720 for $5200 new…thoughts?

How many subwoofers do you have in your room and also make a video on Dirac live ?👌
Two subs PB4000s and I also just bought bass control last week, I will be covering Dirac and some other surprises in the part 2 review :)

SVS and kef, you have some nice gear

Turns out it’s an issue with my new computer which is causing imprecise measurements warnings, old computer works fine
