      Aliena, I feel you 100%. Last year, some unforeseen changes happened and I had to stop my business for a while to recover, and then this year I literally changed countries. I am in a different country looking for a product design job and I am staying with relatives. It's insane. But at the same time you get to see beautiful things and reinvent.
      edit: All the best! We are behind you!

      Welcome to Toronto! It's an awesome city with SO much to offer. Lots of amazing, talented people in design and Toronto has much to explore! If you need any recommendations I've been living here since 2018 and have been working as a designer since 2020! Best of luck :)

    I went through a similar situation and had to leave 10 years of life in the US behind last year. I'm still working to get it all back in balance, but I moved to Mexico and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. I felt I grew so much as a person, which has made all the difference in my personal mental health. Your videos have been so inspiring to me Aliena, sending all good vibes toward your path! Stay strong, you got this!

I also love how I can see the swings between frustration and excitement. Best of luck!

I am on non-stem opt without any job, expiring this august. so tons going on in my head :) along with all the formalities, remember to take care of you, and that goes for both of you. best wishes :)
    also, I remember seeing a LinkedIn post of someone financing his own H1B. not sure if you have checked the be visas as well.

    As someone with tons of friends and family that came from India and went through the same H1B struggle, even specifically a couple of relatives that had the exact same thing, got rejected by the lottery multiple times and also moved to Toronto :D ... Hey Aliena, coming from the half SE-East Asian background who move to Western world (EU market) to chase a tech dream, I can wholeheartedly sympathize this. My entire late 20s life is filled with the series of chasing the work visa over visa, pursing the career growth at each time I immigrated into different countries every 1-4 years. As my ages grow, the desperation for living stability after all the relocations has amplified year by years. Fast forward to today, I finally found the country base where I feel it's ticked most of my goal boxes, specially striking the balance between mental health and tech hustles, and the chances to expedite the process of obtaining EU permanent residency to cease all that burden of living instability.
    I hope for you, one day, you can find where you feel this is your base and feeling more settled, after battling with all the work visas and life challenges. You've got this!

    I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you’re facing with the H1B visa and the stress of relocating. It sounds like you’re dealing with a lot of uncertainty and change, which can be overwhelming. Here’s a summary of your situation:
    You’ve been unsuccessful in obtaining an H1B visa for three consecutive years, and now both you and your partner need to find a new country to live in as his visa is expiring. You’ve chosen Toronto as your next destination, but there are many logistics to sort out, including ending your current lease, finding a new apartment, and dealing with belongings like furniture, paintings, and a car. Amidst all this, you’re also managing a company and trying to stay positive despite the chaos.
    Remember, it’s okay to feel like a mess during such transitions. It’s a natural response to the significant changes you’re going through. Take it one step at a time, prioritize your tasks, and don’t hesitate to seek support from friends, family, or professionals if needed. You’re doing your best, and that’s what matters. Stay strong! 💪

    Wait I thought the grace period was 60 or 90 days, not 1 month? Also, I’m sorry if your partner was also one of the people laid off from Google recently. Unless the last part isn’t true? I assume that because you said his H1B visa didn’t renew, making me think they laid him off.

    • @AlienaCai
      @AlienaCai  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I wonder if the mess stress is also a Chinese thing - I'm Chinese too and when ever my life is messy, it's almost like how can things that seem so unimportant (not about money or family) effect me so much and waste so much of my day?? it's almost like letting the laundry stress you out but it's lots a different laundry - I think it's a bit like microaggressions of annoyance. good video on that - th-cam.com/video/emz49wSnNcs/w-d-xo.html also not sure what you're into but sometimes I find tarot chills me out. here's a few I like - @caraelizabethspeaks @chriscorsinitarot @MinnowPondTarot
