  • We have an interview with Audio Physic about their new Medeos high end (limited) loudspeaker. We talk about the brand new midrange unit, the 4-way system and of course the performance of this 160.000 Euro beast of a loudpeaker!

Interesting design but the polymeric foil will not stay stable over time so performance will deteriorate. Have you tested for fatigue over extended use and also over a broad range of temperatures? Hope it works out for you.

I second this. Yes, the polymer like this has a rather fast deteriorate rate. It would be terrible to replace it every 2 years unless there was a careful planning around it.

it looks good and all but fails to avoid probably the most basic thing, edge diffraction. Looking from the video, it seems like the speakers have pretty rough edges.

"It seems" is the right description. I was with my nose on top of it. It sounded marvellous.

Basic is not the right word. I worked with fluid simulations on this issue and even curved edges still have diffractions, its not at all easy to reduce them substantialy

@@Tacet137 curved edges should reduce them by a good amount right? Kinda like Genelec with their Minimum Diffraction enclosures.

Good points about the glass on the surface. Still it boggles my mind how many ways there are to produce sound.🤔🙄🤓 Once you get to a certain price point most of it is just over engineering in my opinion.🤔🤫 I am finding more and more especially in this digital age that the recording quality matters much more than any thing else.🤔🙄 I can make a decent speaker sound fantastic just picking the right song which even sounds great on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 plus. Playing Kasmir by Marcin and a crummy sound system sounds much better than if I'm playing some random music.😬

I am a major Audio Physic fan 😎
This is clearly my new favorite speaker 😍
I want it but can´t afford at the moment 😟

I think this is the first with foil for mid, but not for highs

I looks nice clean, modern! However, it's a very boxy design. Usually, a boxy speaker sounds boxy - it's the simple physics. Yet, your company's name is Audio Physic. How do you get around from the boxy sound? After all there are reasons why other companies make narrow and rounded speakers. Love to hear your thoughts on this.

I didn't see those speakers at their main room, but to be frank I wasn't impressed by the Avantera speaker they had at the show. Was planning to get AP as my next speaker brand but it wasn't a good presentation 😞

Don't judge a speaker / component on a show. The acoustics are pretty bad, most of the time.

All this contraption could be avoided with a modern isodynamic planar midrange driver...like in PS Audio's FR30. The foil might be light but the plastic supporting frame attached to it, adds its weight. Some people have difficulty accepting a better way of making things...

    • @TheAlphaAudio

The 3d printed diffuser is not attatched to the foil.

The blue foil seems a bit stupid not gonna lie. Looks like they bought it at the dollar store and are laughing at how stupid people are.
