I used to live in the east coast and moved to Cali as a kid, I always thought when I got older I was going to live in NY and be the male version of this show. Many it's 30 years later and how different life turned out to be! Man seeing and hearing this theme takes me back.
I absolutely adored this show. It was so bright shiny in my world. I was going through divorce recovery and I relied on Molly to make me feel better about everything. Each character on that show was a joy. It needs to rerun somewhere because it is timeless.
Man, I used to love this show! I used to love the theme song (I had a mixtape where I dubbed it from a VHS Hi-Fi VCR), and how could you not love Blair Brown!

Loved, loved, loved the theme music! For some reason, it makes me think of Al Jarreau's fabulous music (Spain). I never missed this show. We need the complete series on dvd - now!
It's the electric piano Al and this song features, called Fender Rhodes. It gives a warm feel to any song.
I like the season one opening so much better than the season two opening. The mixture of still shots and video give it an artistic quality, as well as giving a snapshot into Molly's mixture of solitude and social interaction.
The second opening looks like something that was slapped together quickly and on the cheap when the show moved to Lifetime.
Cool theme.
I wish the show was airing where I could see it. Lifetime should bring it back.

Wow! Nearly thirty years ago...love the opening music, Molly made me want to go to New York....All these years later, I still haven't been!
GO! It's like nothing you will ever experience. You don't even need to do the touristy stuff. Just find a place to sit and watch... I was born and raised there. I always said if I hadn't I would have moved right after high school.
I went to New York all the time-loved it. The last time I went was the year before 9/11. Never went there again.
New York is the type of place that after running the streets for a bit, you'll act like you're from there.🤣
I don't know why - But I always feel content when I watch & hear that soundtrack - I watched tD&NoMD way back in the 1980s when it was shown in the U.K. - I was in my early 20s back then & I liked Blair Brown - But now listening to this theme I get this feeling ? Thank you for sharing !
It was such a great show - Yeah ! I dont know why I get this feeling of contentment when I watch this title from Days & - Nights of Molly - I was a young white boy brought up in Yorkshire England brought up in aloving Christian family ! - When I watched this back in the 80s -I had never visited NYC never mind lived there ....( not this life anyway ?)
Why do I get these feelings ? I'm nearly 60 years old now and watching this gave me the same feelings as back then ! -Strange ?
It was on BBC One, at around 11pm on Sunday nights. It was so different to other comedies, no laugh track, dry humour and was just that bit different. I used to love watching it!

A wonderful show, rescued by Lifetime after NBC pulled the plug. Wish they'd release this on DVD!
According to Blair Brown they can't because they never locked in the music rights to songs that were played/she sang. The cost would be huge.
Just read an interview with Blair Brown where she said the show will never see the light of day because the producers didn't secure any of the song rights.
This show needs to be released on DVD. Now.

Molly Dodds Episode I fondly remember - Is the one were Molly is awoken by something in the kitchen - She goes to investigate and its the ghost of Mollys Dad at the kitchen sink doing her washing up while waiting to give her some advice ! that episode made such an impression that I promised my daughter I'd come and do her washing up for her !!!
i loved this show...my early 90's comfort program. was in my early 20's and had my chicago apartment to myself after kicking out a psycho boyfriend... i was my own molly dodd. it really appealed to and inspired me. this and northern exposure.

Ah, the nostalgia. Blair/Molly's constant beaming smile in this show. Used to watch it religiously. She always used to remind me of a young Jessica Lange.

I was too young to like this show it didn't have the sitcomy feel of the other nbc show but I remember the theme thanks

I watched Molly Dodd because of the excellent acting by the charming Blair Brown & Allyn Ann McLerie who played Molly’s mother. My favorite scene is when Molly was in the hallway trying to get to her apartment and she told a man that, “you’re blocking my access & egress”. I had to look up the meaning of egress in the dictionary. I found much of the show boring, as there wasn’t much plot, but I loved the subtle and offbeat humor in many of the episodes & the haunting melody of the opening theme.
Moderately eerie seeing the Twin Towers.....but still a gorgeous theme and it feels like New York to this day...very Manhattan.

Loved this show - blair brown was gorgous ! - I Loved the them music too - Whe I heard it It made me feel safe for some reason ?- I wanted to move into a flat in one of those big houses in NYC - Strange ecven now when I just heard the theme that feeling came over me strange?

They were never married.
Molly Dodd is STILL a favorite & one of the top shows in the late 80s my Dad & I always watched together. Always loved this longer version of the opening theme. Also loved the character played by Blair Brown & her vibrant busy life in New York City. Her quirkiness was perfectly unique.🗽❤

I really loved this show! I loved everything about it, even the credits. I never loved another TV show the same.
So this show started when Lifetime starting a quest on developing original programmings.
Like a lot of releases I've seen for older shows, like bosom buddies I noticed they'd use another song all together. Why don't they pick a copyright free version of some similar sounding song and you fans will be seeing this show again. Me? I hardly remember it because it was on either when I was watching something else religiously on it's time slot I can't remember (unless it was a show my sister liked which wasn't this and refuses to miss) or I was too young at 9 to really get into this show.
Sex in the city didn't have half the class.
OMG!! So this is the show David Leisure was spoofing in that one episode of ALF, where he plays Brandon Tartikoff, & because ALF has caused Polka Jamboree to be the top rated series & made Polka trendy, "Brandon" tells his secretary to dictate some new show ideas, that all have Polka in the title, one of them being The Days & Nights of Molly Polka, lmao! At the time I saw that episode, I thought he was making that up, lol, as I sadly never saw this show, but after watching the opening credits, I now desperately want to see it.
When is this going to be available to watch again
From what I understand too many issues in music licensing from songs they used in the show. Some say it'll never be released. Bummer.
