What we need is more supplement companies! ha ha. I plan to be there next year as it's more geared towards stuff I might be interested in over like you said the typical clothing/supplement market.
I like the blackwing bench, a hybrid of their top 2 benches with improvements. Really excited about the in rack storage shelves, I almost wish I would have gotten the Athena instead of the ares, so I could have the storage in the middle
I own the zero gap. It’s definitely slower than a ladder style bench, but you do get used to it and we’re only talking about 15 seconds or so to adjust. The upgrades they’ve made to the adjustments mechanism are still welcome though. The handle also looks a lot better. It’s a super heavy bench and the current handle placement is not ideal.
A day after I received my first bench - AB-3000 2.0 FID, they released the pre-orders for the BlackWing, it looks so freaking awesome that I went ahead and pre-ordered 🤷🏽♂️ For now, I'm enjoying my AB-3000 2.0, it looks and feels amazing 💪🏽
Both of the new benches look incredible. As an owner of the FB5000 with wide pad and AB5200 1.0, Rep benches deserve the hype. Both of the new ones make me sad I already own their predecessors though😂. Their new squat bar and deadlift bar have super cool, unique endcaps. REP is killing it!
I'm excited for the utility seat. I have their full size rack with jammer arms and the flat bench with wide pad. Will probably get the new 5200 as well.. I have an old adjustable sorinex bench currently for that purpose, but this new iteration is enough for me to upgrade I think. Rep has become the best overall company for quality and affordability imo.
REP has stayed true to it's unreal value for the money and quality gear. I'm a big fan. The seat is a great idea. Looking forward to see how this year goes for new gear!
@@MacStrengthCo completely agree, I used to buy from rogue when they first came out, and they were very similar. Were decently affordable. I'm kind of confused with their direction lately, for most garage gym and home lifter I feel like they have priced themselves out from them. They are pretty much the same price as sorinex and other pro and collegiate suppliers. I can't justify most of their stuff at this point, unless its something really niche that only they make. Will probably buy the transformer bar from them, and I got their Westside reverse hyper.
I have the v2 bench and it’s great. Preacher bench, ab crunch, leg extension/curl(attaches to ares cable system, and back extension Al work and it’s very solid. 3 places to adjust the seat too. It’s lighter to so my wife likes it. As well. Hope rep does something like this.
@Mac Strength Co. They are very well known for the adjustable dumbbells which is how I found out about their benches. I bought almost all attachments to their bench and I'm extremely impressed by everything I bought
Seems like the Blackwing is their bench of the future and is where Rep will focus their attention on future attachments. The 5200 2.0 is great too but the BW might end up hurting its sales.
Appreciate the review!! When do you think your Irwin Fitness bench will arrive? Can’t wait to check that out, I’m on the fence between these new rep benches or going with Irwin.
Awesome video Mac! I am interested in hearing your breakdown between their bars and the rogue bars you have. I have never trained with a Rogue bar before or a Rep Bar. I have used IVANKO, American Barbell, and I own 4 Eleiko training and competition bars. thinking of getting a power bar but not sure which company to try first. Everyone says the Ohio bar but for whatever reason i have never been willing to order it. Weird I know. Have you tried the Gungnir of Norway All Rounder? Not really a power bar but interested in your assessment. Thanks
I’ve tried quite a few. I’m not a purist but put training above the equipment brands. This allows me to find the best value in performance over the name. Rogues power bar is very good and what I call the benchmark. Stuff like ivanko and eleiko hasn’t really interested me “yet” 😂. Just not in the budget for now. American barbell makes premium power bars but mild knurling compared to say Rogue or Texas. Sportkraft has very high quality bars also and bare steel makes an aggressive powerbar (28.5mm) There’s no one bar here to answer your question and I own 25 barbells and plan to add more! Maybe ivanko and eleiko!😎
@@MacStrengthCo Benches have come a long way since the AB-2/3. The Black Wing checks all the boxes for me. The AB-5200 V1 was a very good bench and the the Black Wing builds on that to be a more solid bench.
Hey Mac, just found your channel and love it. Big fan of gym equipment and the home gym community. Love seeing creators like you making an effort. I hope I'm not out of line when I say this but you say a lot of filler words (mostly "and"). Makes it kinda slow. Otherwise love the content. Keep it going.
Fair point! I’m not a TH-camr. I have no background in videography like the other guys. Just a dad who builds muscle cars and lives on a farm trying to help share some home gym knowledge. 😂
Rogue has always been focused on the CrossFit box and recently strong man. They don't market to the home gym which is a start contrast to REP who listens to the home gym market and innovates based on our needs and prices stuff affordable.
Rep is destroying the home gym game right now. Better for us all. Now where's Titan ? They do have more inventory of different types of home gym equipment though that other companies don't have.
I’ve got a preorder in for the BlackWing as an upgrade from the AB3000 I’ve had for the last 3 years. I originally was going to get the 5200 with the adjustable post but for $20 more it seemed like a no brainer to go with the BlackWing especially with Rep saying they have more attachments in the future for the platform like a leg curl/extension that can be tied into a cable system. Just seems like it will offer more and more versatility as time goes on that other benches in the market won’t be able to match. Sort of surprised they didn’t price the 5200 at $500 or the BW at $650 to make more of a price gap between the two because I see a lot of people passing on the 5200 for the BW with the current pricing level.
Like you said more to offer with the blackwing and expandability. I've never cared about zero gap so that what got me into a 5200 in the first place but now the blackwing really makes a strong argument for me to get one! Let me know what you think?
@@MacStrengthCo yeah I haven’t really been interested in zero gap either up to this point but with all the other upgrades and future functionality they have packed into the blackwing at a pretty reasonable price point for what you get like you mentioned I’m excited to give it a try. I definitely would be happy to! Just hoping they manage to ship them out sooner than the June timeline they have listed currently. My wife probably won’t love that it weighs 130lbs but I’ll just have to get her to think of it as a new workout 😂
Rogue has been a disappointment since they got all that covid money. Rep has reinvested that money and come up with some great products. The Ares, Athena line to name a few. Rogue came out with some below average ideas. My Vulcan Strength incline bench, which I bought during covid a few years ago is what Rouges and Reps new benches look like. So not impressed with either bench. Lots of copy cat stuff right now.

I'm glad to see companies prioritizing events like this to showcase gear. A few years ago the Arnold was more geared towards supplements and clothing.

Nice job great detailed video.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, I never thought I would hear Rep and Rogue are similar. But that’s a truer statement today, than it’s ever been.
The only thing getting further apart is the price. Rogue has always marketed towards the CrossFit box where Rep is laser focused on customer feedback.

I think you summed it better than I could. Great feedback.
Thanks for doing REP. Rogue is great but as the kids say, “low key” over hyped.
We are lucky to have REP as an option. Wasn't that long ago Rogue owned the entire market! lol.

I find the new bench from Iron Master with all the attachments you can add to it to be more superior to any bench Rouge or Rep came up with
Just don't see their gear much. Do you like their entire line up or just their benches?
I have the Ironmaster Bench Pro V2 and it was the best decision I made. It's definitely the most versatile bench out there.

Nice twice in a day. I am interested in the rep zero gap bench vs the new rogue bench but would wait for a clear coat if we're to purchase.
I really like what REP has done with their bench line up. Ton's of new innovation and changes that make sense to me.
