    All jokes aside, I feel like there’s some actual healing that take place in convos like these. Shared experiences, shared trauma, collective healing. I love to see it.

    I am a hairstylist & let me just say witnessing how parents interact with their kids, reveals a lot in that short time frame. Even the people around you are ready to reveal their own tempers. I've had people yell, hold down their kids until they turn red, yell at their kids, or people say, "man if it was me, I'd smack my kid, at least they come out with a good haircut. Sad sad thing. To desire so much for something that you would be willing to risk your kids life for it. Careful.

    Im glad I am not the only one who got chased around and threatened with a meat cleaver. Thank u bart n nick for being relatable for me 🥲 All over my adhd butt not wanting to sit still and practice piano 😌 ahhh, effective parenting, me screaming crying running around for my life traumatized, locked myself in the bathroom and sat on top of the toilet sure my mother was going to kill me as she slides the cleaver back and forth under the door like a damn horror movie villain.

    LOL, my mom threatened me with cleaver's, big ass knives, only accidently caught me in my left eye lid (not on purpose) many times when i was in my teens. HAHAHA, Must be a asian thing!!.. I'd get my ass beat with metal / wood spatulas and broomsticks!!!. She'd break broomsticks on me, ladle's, yardsticks!! Name it. lol. She even came at me with a spatula held on the stovetop burner to threatened me, and ended up 3rd degree burning my arm. still got the scar and im 42 now. She definitely repressed all those memories, and totally ignores the fact she did any of it. Asian / South -East Asians/ Indian folks go in on their kids back in the days, especially the first born. they learn the in and outs with us, and the siblings get it easier, and tame version. Damn havent thought about all this for a long time. Kinda feel good rehashed it typing this out.

      @@snowygalaxy3361 thanks. It shaped me the way i am. Albeit on the far end overboard of the scale, ive accepted it, i know it was her way if parenting, a cycle repeating itself from how she grew up. We dont choose what circumstances we are born into, and must experience, but we can use it and make it a drive and fuel for the better.

    I remembwr a couple family members having samurai swords in their living rooms; decorative ones on like a mantleplace or ontop pf a sound system. Were filipino, so i dont know what all that was about. This was in the late 80s, 90s.

    Spare the sword and spoil the child. The oldtimers seemed to always think that pain is/was the only teacher, its like they want the younger generations to feel what they did, like how dare we learn without pain and agony

    • @alicechase9290
      @alicechase9290 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think the parents love their children, otherwise they wouldn't abuse them to this extent, I know they've had a difficult life, but that doesn't excuse the amount of abuse they place on an innocent life.

    Probably "14" because I remember in my Chinese class in college, my Chinese prof told us that since the Chinese people were superstitious about some things and that they tended to link "4" with "death" since in Chinese (mandarin) they sounded very similar.
    The Chinese government was probably like "ahhhh 4 is too short" and "24 is too long since he's old", "14 seems about right".
