We had 2008 CX-9 for 6 years and after we've been looking for replacement it with something newer and testing everything on the market, ended up with 2014 CX-9 GT. It's a great car to have as a family hauler for long trips to beach.
CX 9 does come with forward obstruction warning and lane departure warning plus the adaptive cruise control as well as auto brake and auto high beam lights. :) Love this car.
I absolutely love my Mazda CX-9 (2013 CX-9 GT) and I'm adding dual DVD players to the front seat headrests in the next couple months. I purchased it preowned with 38k miles and got 12 years complete warranty (I traded in my 2013 Mazda5) that I purchased new in 2013. The service was amazing and I highly recommend this vehicle even without a makeover.
I have a 2014 cx5 and I lol when you mentioned the array of digital colors. In mine the instrument cluster is white, touch screen is blue, temp controls and clock are orange and this bright yellow orange light that says "pass airbag off". it doesn't really bother me because I love the car. my lease is up in April and I'm thinking about getting this version of the cx9 for several reasons, the v6 (I think every car other than a truck in 10 years will be v4 so enjoy it while we can) and this seems to be the last "suv" style crossover mazda will make. I want a large vehicle like a tahoe but I can't afford it and I really like mazda so I think this will be a winner.
Wait.. this SUV has the same V6 as my 2016 Mustang V6? Hell yes I want one! It's a terrific motor! It sounds great! Sounds just like my Mustang, just a bit quieter I am sure.
I own a 2013 Touring, also had an 07. Fantastic car, engine is very quick for my taste as well as the transmission. The car moves with not much effort. My complaints are the huge rear doors make it pretty hard to get out of the third row, third row is very small and don't expect 17/24. I average around 14mpg so far, pretty terrible. But overall I love the car and wouldn't have chosen anything else for the price
New graphics and music, same great & thorough reviews. I noticed there's no CX7 review here, but based on your closing comments you probably favored it as well. I have a 2010 CX7 GT awd, and my only gripe is also the mpg. I get about 15 mpg combined, since I live in hilly and congested areas of Northern California. I can achieve the EPA's 23 mpg highway if I keep it under 65 mph. Sometimes it's difficult since it's fun to drive! I also wish Mazda would bring the CX7 back with Skyactiv, since I never thought the CX5 was a worthy successor.
Well there is a reason for the key system as the mechanic told me. The plastic end cap comes off and you can remove the physical key from the fog and start the vehicle with it. The pushbutton only systems you can be in trouble if the fob dies! The tech seems old but works very well. Bluetooth pairs easily and starts automatically playing my music whether my phone was playing Slacker, Pandora or Xbox Music. Only thing I really wish I had done was skip the premium package. I never use the navigation and, being older, I can leave without the firmer ride of the 20 inch wheels. Oh, the voice system doesn't understand a damn thing I say either. Otherwise a very solid and roomy crossover.
GOOD review... Please... I dont know what car buy. This cx-9 in my country is around 29k, and a nissan rogue around 35k. So my big question is about real MPG. Please tell me how bad or good is the fuel comsuption. Thanks a lot
I have a 2011. Very similar inside, except as he said it has the all red gauges, and the infotainment system is within the red display above the screen in this one (mine doesn’t have any screen in the middle, it just has controls). It also has no USB port, just aux. otherwise they’re basically the same.
Yes, I love it, the Mazda cx-9 is safer than, a Chrysler, a Nissan, cheap, Ford. Mazda cx-9 does fit 7 passages. This our Mazda have bought, and Mazda 6 another great car. Montgomeryville, pa
I honestly think the TomTom integration is a good idea. Yes, you could buy a TomTom for 200 bucks, but it has MUCH better navigation experience. Lane guidance, free map updates, and text to speech. My friend has a brand new BMW F30 and the voice activated navi is a joke! Every factory navigation system I've EVER used is useless. I say if you actually use navigation, get the middle model of a vehicle like the touring of this car, and just buy a Garmin or TomTom. It's unavoidable with some cars if you want backup camera or the like, but if that was the case I still would by an external navi device or use my phone over the probably already outdated maps aboard a new vehicle.
But the darker paint chips easily and is thin. It’s a water-based paint and is the worst. Otherwise pretty fun to drive at fast speeds. Lots of pickup.
We, "the car review guys" will give you the best advice on which new vehicle product represents the best in the segment. A mechanic tends to be more skewed to maintenance and reliability [they work on these cars all day long after all]. Most mechanics prefer older vehicles versus all the electronics in today's modern cars. At the end of the day, you just need to ask yourself what do you like the most and try not to base your decision so much on what other people like. A mechanic can give you great insight on used vehicles however.
Redline Reviews i dont agree that mechanics are for "used car" only coz its not every year that a vehicle changes everything, its like a 5 yr old car has the same components as the brand new one, and im just curious that car reviewer and a mechanic has mostly a opposing view on a vehicle, for an example, most review videos that i watch bashed the Toyotas and the hondas but in a mechanic point of view its the best buy new or old, im just speaking in general videos that i watched, and specifically the scotty kilmer channel in youtube, a mechanic 48 yrs has high regards on toyota and honda
soloflight1975 Toyota and Honda were known for quality and yes Scotty Kilmer stands behind Toyota but all the Toyotas in his videos are older cars. From a reliability stand point Hondas and Toyota have a better track record than most other brands so mechanics recommend them. From a reviewer aspect they are comparing the car as a whole and when doing so brands that might be known to be reliable might be boring to drive , ugly interior , just a bland car to get you from point A to point B and if that's what you're looking for then great. Car enthusiasts look at the car as a whole and not just one aspect .
DJR5280 we are all entitled to our own opinions, i rather listen to a person that knows how to fix cars rather than a person that knows how to look at cars, and i just disagree that you said mechanics just look at one aspect of the car, they know every inch of the vehicle may be old or a brand new one
No mechanics don't know every inch of a car! Why did you even ask your original question if all you're going to do is argue peoples responses. A car reviewer and mechanic are two different jobs. A car reviewer judges a car in a lot of different ways that a mechanic can care less about. A mechanic fixes a car and gets it back on the road. If you want to listen to a mechanic give you advice on a reliable car than go ahead. A reviewer will tell you how a car drives, how well the interior is built, road noise. throttle response gas mileage . A mechanic isn't going to go that in depth with you. Most cars on the road today are reliable if you take care of them. Don't buy a Toyota because you think they are bullet proof my friend at work has a 2012 carolla he bought new and it has 58 k miles and the head gasket failed. It needs thousands of dollars worth of work and Toyota is trying to blame him even though he has had it serviced every oil change at the dealer. Do a google search and you find Toyotas have a quite a reputation for head gasket issues. I never knew Toyota had these issues and a ton more like oil consumption on the 4 cylinder engines. Across Toyotas whole engine line they have problems. Buy what you like take care of it and hope for the best.
My mother had a cx7 she LOVED it, how ever the turbo 4 made loads of power but the turbo burned up in it and was a common problem to have them burn out, it was a real flaw and shame of Mazda
Liked the video. Keep 'em coming. If you ever can get to it, I'd like to see a video on the Chevy Traverse or GMC Acadia, as there aren't many videos out there on the GM people movers.
I have test driven the Mazda 3 S Grand Touring and Boy is there a big difference!!! YES, I know ones a suv n the other is a small sedan but I mean in the aging factor. The inside of this thing looks super outdated even down to the navigation! The nav on that 2014 Mazda was sick (NICE!). Idk what the hek they are doing with these suvs but there is a big change coming I can guarantee that lol Has to be!
my opinion is hmmm i love the 7 seater and the body dimension its wider but the face is prefer to cx5 anyway and also the interior... i think mazda is too focus to cx5 than cx9
KODO design language only looks good when Mazda has lighting equipment and photo editors casting shadows and illumination in such a harmonious way that it makes symphony conductors look like their playing hacky sack. In the real world these cars seem less about "energy becoming motion" and become just another corporate brand recognition tactic. I personally find it nothing more than unoffensive.
Your 6 years too late. It was a ford motor. The worst motor when it came to repairs and long term reliability. $2000 to replace the water pump. No thanks
One of the main reasons why I bought my 2013 CX9 for my family is that awesome Ford 3.7 Cyclone V6. I do love the car otherwise as well.

Good review as always . One thing I like about your reviews is that we actually hear your driving experience. Nice.
you got it men
Sometimes I wish mazda would just placed this 3.7 in the 6 for the time being while they work on the diesel version.
CX 9 does come with forward obstruction warning and lane departure warning plus the adaptive cruise control as well as auto brake and auto high beam lights. :) Love this car.
I bought the masda cx9 in 2015 when it first came out its a brilliant car
Arc_ Lynzツ is it a good suv? Any problems with it?
With your hair style, you remind me of the kid from UP.... Great Vid
The fwd version was the Aisin Toyota transmission. The awd was the ford transmission. The Mazda CX-7 had the same setup

I'm so ready to see a refresh or redesign to bring up to the design language of the new Mazdas
Speed talker is back!

I have 2014 CX-9 Mazda ,I love it!
Does it have all fearures this one does
Yes, I love it, the Mazda cx-9 is safer than, a Chrysler, a Nissan, cheap, Ford. Mazda cx-9 does fit 7 passages. This our Mazda have bought, and Mazda 6 another great car. Montgomeryville, pa
Can you do a review on a 2004 bmw 745i
the 2016 Mazda CX9 is here
Call me clueless, but what does he do as a job to be able to get the companies to send him cars to test for the week?
Any chance you can review a 2015 Dodge Durango upper trim level? Great job as always.

In making car decisions, who should i listen to? These car reviewer guys or a mechanic?

Can you review a 2015 Mazda 3 S Grand Touring Sedan (2.5L) with the 6-speed manual?
Thanks.
great review!
My mother had a cx7 she LOVED it, how ever the turbo 4 made loads of power but the turbo burned up in it and was a common problem to have them burn out, it was a real flaw and shame of Mazda
Cx7 is a heavy car for that engine that’s why their turbo goes out, I have a mazdapseed6 and it’s at 142,000 miles running good
I forget Mazda even exist sometimes.
You must not leave your house much lol

Liked the video. Keep 'em coming. If you ever can get to it, I'd like to see a video on the Chevy Traverse or GMC Acadia, as there aren't many videos out there on the GM people movers.

great review
Give us a review of the Dodge Ram and new F150. Truck coverage on this channel is really lacking!
"Elevated road noise."
Yep. Lost me.

Suppose to get a reboot in 2016.
Do a 2015 ford f-150.
don't' know why I was tickled by you doing your rev thing and the license plate frame says "zoom zoom". lol Indeed.
Asmr?
The newer version looks so much better
Hope they keep rhe 3.7 engine!
Your 6 years too late. It was a ford motor. The worst motor when it came to repairs and long term reliability. $2000 to replace the water pump. No thanks
Dash looks just like Highlander 2012
I'm happy with my x4...
the european version has all new driver assistance technologies ;)
I remeber mazda making vans
Very good Car MAZDA CX-9
I wish mazda would do a better job with designing their tailpipes. they all look like they come off of a 92 accord
Speak quickly, why?
