I admire and respect your willingness to use and improve a deck that you simply enjoy in order to overcome the new more consistent and better decks that are used in the meta. You have an excellent way of explaining your card choices and narrating the matches. Also, very cool music selection! 😎
Very insightful video as always. I haven't played any constructed events at my lgs yet and have been drafting to get a start before knowing what to build. Your videos help a lot with preparing for constructed with all the updates to meta, strength and weaknesses of decks and like in this video how to combat certain matchups. Keep up the great work!
would love for you to throw In a loss every now and then to talk through what went wrong. easy to see the deck at its best and want to replicate, but can also talk about weaknesses in losses or misplays that could have changed the outcome
might not be steadfasts reaction, but the deck has problems versus aggressive decks. amber amethyst or amethyst ruby arthur aggro is hard to handle, or even those tryhard decks that just in time out a goofy or maximus on turn 3 outright win the game after they set up with lilo and pinocchio. if aggro goes first, its hard to keep up, so in my tournaments the roll often decided the best of 3s. luckily aggro decks are seen rarely at tournaments since they get destroyed by any steel deck and amethyst steel control and steel emerald are top performers atm.
amethyst steel is a good matchup for you, since you can match their draw and your midgame is so strong, often you win by simply questing. emerald steel is a whole other story and its basically down to how well the discard deck hits its curve. turn 1 hook into bucky followed by prince john into a jafar juggernaut seems unbeatable for me everytime i face it. from there on you will get slapped right and left by jafar killing your stuff and constant sudden chills and hypnotizes plus emo beasts.
This was great. I was leaning towards ditching the stitch stuff myself, but kept second guessing myself. Also got a lot of value from Goofy in my own lists, but I like the idea of doubling down with the tiggers, and Eudora is a great touch. That ending Mufasa Rip into Tremaine was *Mwah* 👏
Yess haha. For the record, I love the Villain Hades version of this deck too! I wish it were just a tad better. I think it's the closest we've come to a A tier Villains deck.
Awesome follow up vid! I just played against a friend with this new deck against a steel song and i kept losing since there arent any 1 drops and his songs kept banishing my evasives. Once i reverted back and ran the Stitches, the game swung back to my favor quite easily
Was wondering what your thoughts were on running Snow White WW since dumping the Rock Star Stitches. I feel like it would make a nice replacement piece for card advantage in place of the Namarri drops. I started your list this weekend though at my first time playing the game and really enjoyed! I played the previous version of it and definitely struggled against some of the match ups against the steel decks and felt the need for the Be Prepareds though and picked some up Sunday night so seeing this video Monday afternoon was relieving.
Love the content and the way it's presented. At 3:00, did you consider at all choosing mufasa so you'd have 2 characters for the surfer stitch the next turn? You seemed to think they didn't have Be Prepared, and the lore value is actually much higher if you keep two characters around and then draw 2 additional cards. Since they can't sing Be Prepared the following turn, this puts you in the drivers seat the rest of the game with enough resources (thanks to the draw 2) to likely get over the finishing line. Anyway, love the content, definitely subscribed!
I think that's the wrong time stamp, but I think I know the time you meant. That would have been interesting and I don't think I considered it until now. Keeping Mufasa does add a ton of pressure, but drawing 2 can be game-changing. Thanks for pointing it out!
Im really loving the Mufasa engine this season. Ive had success pairing Amber with Amethyst for Draw power, goat package, and high lore characters. I even has a similar match like with your game vs ame/steel where it was down to the wire. I sacrificed my Mufasa to top deck an Elsa to freeze two of their characters from questing. I also hit a crucial Goat off top as well. I put a deck profile on my channel but like you, ive been altering card choices based on matchups all the time so i love how this deck can always be customized. I enjoyed your insight with each match.
Love the videos! Always enjoy seeing an upload from you. Was curious if you’ve tried the green Mufasa build? Was pretty confident in red/yellow being the way till I tried some games with green and think it has its own strengths
I've been running the Amber side of this deck in various combos and in most cases the New Dog/Rockstar Stitch package has become less about card draw and more about getting a 3/5, 3 lore body out that can quest on turn 3/4. Also, I appreciate your mention at the end about how the deck has performed outside of the games seen in the video. It can be easy to get the impression that any deck you see on youtube only wins, so hearing that's not always the case is nice.
Love your videos and love that you show how you adapted this deck! A lot of people in my LGS are running emerald with Merfolk and Flynn which is causing me issues. I feel like I need to add in a 1 drop to get rid of Merfolk early - what have your strategies been against this matchup?
In the final game was there any thought about using Be Prepared on the first turn you were able (~26 minute mark)? 13-4 lore, 5-3 card advantage, removing sad beast + tinkerbell, and some degree of board advantage depending on what Mufasa hits?
bro! you almost did all the changes i was thinking about after playing around 60-70 rounds of the deck with various changes. i also inserted 2 be prepareds and was thinking about dropping rockstar stitch since i always inked him and his statline is just too bad for 6 cost and i never shift him since i play rapunzel or a 5 drop on turn 4! i actually added scar vicious cheater to the package and kept running 2-3 lanterns with him instead of be prepareds! i still like to have 1 drops just to keep pressure against very aggressive decks because i think aggro is the big weakness of this deck.
Yeah I think this version in the video is close to perfect against a meta with few aggro decks. If they are popular though it needs some early defense.
im a true mufasa believer now, thanks to your first video where it all started for me! i ended up keeping the rockstars since they play well into the small stitches versus aggro potentially having a 3/5 turn 3 with lantern is good, especially if you go first and the enemy plays simba. followed ip by another trade and a rapunzel. also i kept 3 lanterns in the deck for turn 4 gothel rapunzel combo with doc, potential turn 4 scars with double lantern into doc on turn 3 which is huge. so many surprises in the deck are possible, even the be prepareds arent often taken care of and control decks drop heavy on the board just to get nuked. love the deck archetype.@@ssteadfast
Thanks for updating this deck and walking us through your process! I had a similar experience playing a version of this deck (1.0) and having success against its meta target, but trouble against other archtypes. Do you have any thoughts on how to adapt this to multi-player? One of our local league nights is 4-person pods that was just lousy with BP wipe decks for a while. I brought 1.0 and then of course, almost no one brought it that week and I flailed against basic aggro. Having my own Be Prepareds will be a nice balance with this 2.0 version, but I thought I'd ask if you had any thoughts on if/what kind of modifications this might need to adjust for multiple opponents. Thanks again for your great work on this channel!
Ruby has some great cards that steal lore from multiple characters, like the small Lady Tremaine. You could try that! I also think multiplayer helps Rapunzel decks in general as you’re more likely to get stray damage off Steel that you can heal up.
Absolutely thank you for calling out the bad cards, Rockstar package and yellow queen package were trash. I created the best control deck week one, already playing kuzcos, urslas and elsa. Week three created the mufasa deck. After hundreds of trials of decks I've landed on 2 different version. One package uses aladdin cause the stupid lore gain purp/red gets is dumb good. Or out grind with snow whites. I've agreed with be preps in the deck sense day 1 of my creation. In paper 4-5 noncharacter is perfectly fine, never hit a be prep off mufasa in paper and I've flipped alot. Also lanterns was always a bad choice, dead card period. Doc does enough when u need it. Also I run 4 one drops. 1 drop minnie did nothing. So I switched it for 1 drop hei hei lol here me out. The support makes red queen a 3/2 rush. Also pairs well with scar and maui. It pairs well with my two drop snow white. Making a 3/3 that trades with snake or stay around vs simba. Speaking of 2 drop snow white. If u turn 2 mother gothel the turn 3 snow white makes it a 3/3 removing a simba and still having a 3/1 for rapunzel turn 4. (This line vs. Hyper aggro)
I would love a Mufasa Steel deck that actually works. I think there’s a ton of potential there but I still haven’t figured out what would give it a positive WR
I think the Amber + Steel combo just has other things it can do a lot better. There are better aggro lists without Mufasa and of course they can run a song-focused list too. With Mufasa, hitting Tink or Goofy is fun, but it's not the same as Ruby.
Hey Steasfast great video once video. Do you know what they said ..A artist always tries to perfect his art. Ive quick question on the deck 1- Why Shift Queen.. most of time ive been inking this card ? 2- Any thought about having some Mickey BLT ? Could be dangerous evasive character
Shift Queen is often ink but I like her at times when I can’t find Rapunzel. Mickey BLT is good too, and I’ve tried him some, I just like Tigger more as my “big evasive” because I can play him easily on curve after Mufasa.
Any ideas for a different ink pairing for mufasa? I know ruby has a lot of good "when played" characters, but I figured there has to be some other options, right?
Pongo only has 2 Strength and therefore cannot take down the 3 Willpower Surfer Minnie. I'd rather play Goofy who can counter her - plus with Doc on 3, you can skip to playing a 5-cost character on 4, so Goofy again replaces Pongo.
I love the idea of this deck and it has such strong upside potential as more "when this card is played" character cards come out in future sets. Don't you feel that playing Queen of Hearts is a bit counterintuitive to the "aggro" nature of this deck though? Even if you are double dipping with rapunzel's effect I just don't see a turn 5 queen being very powerful especially with many of your other 5 drops like Maui/Mufasa taking precedence. Do we not feel BLT or Aladdin Heroic Outlaw fills this cards spot better allowing for even more Mufasa potential?
Yeah I feel that, and I think it's one of the weaker spots of the deck - but it's come in clutch against other aggro decks. I can trade in and maintain card advantage, sometimes drawing 3-4 cards.
You may need to revert to 1-drops against that meta. Lefou has been really nice lately, as he can turn their bodyguards and let Stitch etc hit past them.
Thank you for your video...i am curious about this deck but i'm not very convinced by the first match vs euby amethyst. 3 reasons for me: your opponent has not teeth and ambitious for your gothel...he plays yzma but he doesn't target your Mufasa...and very lucky about finding maleficient dragon. I would like another match with a opponent more consistent...
There's a couple additional matches in my first Mufasa video! But if you've seen those, all I can say is try it out! I think the matchup feels much better than it should vs such a dominate deck. Thanks for commenting!
Love the evasive changes! You cut most of the cards I was unsure about in the first version. Great video as always and please stop bullying me on ladder 🥹
Yep, similar ratio for me. 20% win rate running this deck vs my 67% WR running my usual deck. This deck loses to pretty much everything in ranked Pixelborn.
Ya the discard player regardless of having another bucky would never sing with bucky now there goes their turn 4. What a waste. Probably new to the deck and learning how to pilot.
Knowing their hand afterwards, I think it was the right play. They needed to draw off the Sudden Chill + Prince John, and planned to take out Minnie after with 1x FTC.
Losing a bucky is never worth the sudden chill. Wait till turn 5 get a double discard with flood born play and sudden. And he had 2 sudden so that would have just been the turn 4 play. And make you really figure out what to discard.
I have had a ton of success with these colors and a lot of that has been with some of the changes you made in this video, but I would argue that you are relying too heavily on cards that cost 6+, and you should arguably run 0 copies of any of them. I play an aggro/Just in Time version of this that doesn't run any cards over 5. There are a ton of benefits of doing so. You lose a little of the highroll potential of Mufasa, but on the flip side Mufasa is usually being played down when you're just about to win the game, and so his value is maximized in that way. I just really don't think Be Prepared is what you want to be playing in this style of deck, and I'd also argue that the expensive cards are too slow to be worth it.
I think if you want to play only low cost characters you should just play a different deck. There are much better aggro decks for that playstyle and I prefer my list here for playing around Mufasa. You should really try the 2x Be Prep, I know it feels counterintuitive, but it's been so good.
Anyone in the comments have >50% WR running this deck in PB? I have tried running this and it just gets absolutely obliterated by pretty much everything in ranked PB.
I'm not really a fan of this new version. Plays a bunch of cards that don't really do anything and the early game is kinda bad compared to other lists. I like his earlier version from a few weeks ago much better.
@@ssteadfast Thanks for the reply. Not sure what the problem is but man I had no luck with this version. The other version played much better IMO, but I think the best Mufasa deck I've tried is Amber/Emerald.
I just went undefeated at locals again playing Steadfast's previous build cutting rockstar and 1 drop stitches for a set of yellow queens and they did work. I'm thinking of cutting Namari for 2x more 5 drop queen of hearts, they over performed when I had them
Thanks for watching everyone - this one was fun to make! What deck do you want to see next?
ALSO -- The decklist is in the video description
Amber Emerald discard (no card)

Still around 75% WR for me, I’ve been testing a lot of different things though over the last 2 weeks.
I'm thinking of cutting Namari for 2x more 5 drop queen of hearts, they over performed when I had them
First!

@@ssteadfast great stuff as always. Keep it up!
Perfect deck doesn't exist
I'll fight you
The Mufasa deck doesn't work anymore. I think there was a meta shift in the past couple of days. It now loses to everything!
Gotta adapt it! That's the spirit of the video after all! Cheers
How? I can't find a solution. The deck works well on paper. Just not on Pixelborn which is the only thing I can use to test it.@@ssteadfast
