My wife and son were almost crying to me about getting a new dog but I really wasn't very keen (we've had a beagle who past away earlier). When they finally convinced me, I told them that if we are to get another dog, I would like to choose the breed and they agreed. I always wanted an English Bulldog but all the health related issues were putting me off. And then, I've discovered the American Bulldog breed!
We've had Bella for nearly a year now and I can't imagine life without her. I was a person who, although I liked dogs, I would never have them sit on the couch with me or hug them or anything too intimate. But with her its totally different! It comes to the point where I ask for more cuddles and she's like "I've had enough". And although my family was skeptical at the start, they all agree now that she is the best dog we could ever have!
I have not seen her protective and guard instincts come out yet but I guess she is still in puppy mode.
Definitely recommend the breed. Very well balanced dog for sure!

I just bought my first American Bulldog back in August and like some of you have said “I can’t imagine my life without my right hand man!” Hands down the best dog that I’ve ever own to date without question!!

This is my breed. My girl is 6 years old and has made me want more. Sadie was easy and fun to train. These dogs are so beautiful. I wish there was something like this where I live.

they are way smaller/shorter than the American Bulldogs we have here in Brazil - most kennels here seem to go for the long, strong limbs

Grew up with one of these as a little kid. Loved people but was aggressive as hell towards dogs she did not know. Only dog she liked was my little shitzu.

Mangeta for the win. Good to see athletic bulldogs, no bashed in noses or huge wrinkles on the head..but I don’t like seeing white or light prints on dogs or bare skin on the nose because of the danger of sunburns.
I named mine Demon only to scare off bad guys. So far it’s working but only for the honorable. The dishonorable hear the bark and run and when I take him for walks people don’t come very close.
I like the Performance type more than the Johnson type

Bybees has amazing Am Bulls in CA.
Using this breed is key to creating large man shoppers that are athletic. Cross them in with a super game blood line from bolio, Debo, Nigerina, and you've got a super working dog. And if you want some intelligence, and to clean up the body and obedience, add in Doberman to the f2 generation. Then take the dobie mix puppies and rebreed them to a dobie bulldog mix. You've got a super driven and obedient work dog. Lot if drive and never tired to work.
This breed is difficult because one side has larger American bulldogs that’s also on this channel but these are smaller bulldogs with shot legs more show

I love and appreciate your work; but as soon as I see dog show footage, I start looking for the exit. Those beauty contests are the death of working breeds; with all due respect. The best examples of dogs, like the early, pre-Johnson era Bulldogs, are kept by people that look down on certain other types of people; so I understand the difficulty, if not impossibility, of doing a Dogumentary on those dogs and their breeders. Keep up the fantastic work, Brother!

That breed doesn't look like an purebread American bulldog . Johnson or Scott.

But it all comes down to the dogs and the owner it will be much easier if the dogs aren’t the same gender
90% of breeds get along great! if they are the correct Male to female ratio , generally it's 1 Male (dominant) to 2-4 females
If you ask like that, the answer is probably no. I'd have to assume that you're asking because you already see the problems your dog has with others. Because let's face it, the new puppy won't be the one causing problems.

American Bulldogs should be tall, fit, and agile. Their face should not be smashed in like a modern English Bulldog. It's disgusting what people breed them to be now.

A modern English Bulldog is a sad being, incompatible with life. Other bulldog breeds should not incorporate those characteristics to any bulldog breed. Smashed face and fucked up legs should never be a desirable trait.
Love American bulldogs, beautiful, amazing breed.. But why the f*** do some of them have spiked choker collars on. The owners should try them on themselves...

What is your point? The AKC does not recognize the American Bulldog. We recently rescued an American Bulldog from a puppy factory, ( WE WILL NEVER TELL THE TALE BUT THANK YOU xxxxxx POLICE FORCE) first thing after we got her healthy was to get her spayed. Out of the 20 plus dogs we have owned over the years,all were rescued except one who was show quality but was never shown by design. The confirmation you speak of Bluefields is like a Trump condo, all smoke and mirrors, and when you scratch through the tinsel all you find is more tinsel. If we were being honest the AKC and other groups like them are all about making money, never about the love and the care these beautiful creatures deserve. As one of our granddaughters friends said--PEOPLE DON'T DESERVE DOGS! That little girl was wise beyond her years.
Some very bad examples of American Bulldogs in this video. Almost all of them look like they're mixed with bully.
