I just had solo contest last week and performed my first ever full piece from memory and I was so scared of memory slips! These tips are really useful!
My advice to memorizing pieces(I’ve always been good at memorizing, stemmed out of laziness to search for my music as I’m a messy person), listen as much as you can of the piece you are trying to memorize. On the bus, car, at home studying, find any excuse to listen to the piece. Also helps you learn the piece much more efficiently as well, and gives you more appreciation about the work besides dots on a page. You can’t expect to memorize something you can’t even hum to yourself. Just my two cents!
I play violin too but i dont memories the pice like thet i don’t really do anything but play and practice thet pice and my fingers memories the pice I don’t really know how to explain it but it’s only my fingers and maybe sometimes my brain too so yeah let me know if enyone else dose this?❤❤alsow your playing is WONDERFUL I 😍 loved it And I love how she looks at every comment and answers it it’s soo cooooool

Working backwards is genius, because you are playing towards something more familiar? Mind memory is conscious, muscle memory is subconscious. We need both?

Absolutely! We work on both until it’s so comfortable it becomes a part of us :).
